Red Dog Sports

Cleveland at Spokane (2 units)

Play Spokane -6

Cleveland's John Dutton usually plays well at QB but throws too many int's. He has thrown 8 in 3 games and the team is 0-3. They led Arizona 35-14 at home in week one and still lost. They do have some good wide receivers, led by Ben Nelson.

Spokane is a good home team that is 2-1 and lost at home to Milwaukee in week one but has bounced back with 2 wins. Spokane won the AFL2 title last year so they have proven they can win. I think we see Spokane win by more than 7 and cover.

4* Detroit with Bonderman -110

Kazmir for the Angels has been terrible this season especially on the road where his ERA is over 13. The Angels bats have not exactly been strong on the road and they have not had much luck against righties. Detroit is 6-3 at home and Bonderman has been dynamite at home with an ERA under 2. Thank you and good luck.

Jack Clayton Guaranteed Selections

6* Brewers

I know the Brewers have been stumbling this week, but this is not a bad team. One loss was in 14 innings this week and in another game they hung 17 runs on the Pirates (a win). This offense is excellent, second in the NL in runs scored and first on the all-important on base percentage. The first place Padres, meanwhile, are getting too much respect from oddsmakers, with an offense ranked 9th in the NL in runs scored and 13th in on base percentage. They've been squeezing out fortunate wins, but this is not a very good overall team. I like Milwaukee ace Yovani Gallardo, with a 3.41 ERA striking out 29 in 29 innings and off a terrific season. I don't like San Diego righty Mat Latos (1-2, 6.20 ERA), a guy who is very hittable despite throwing in a great pitcher's park. The Brewers have been better on the road and will roll behind their stopper. Play the Brewers

Scott Rickenbach

8* SF Giants / Colorado Over

The Rockies are very familiar with Matt Cain of the Giants. In his young career, there is no team that Cain has faced more than Colorado. Also, Cain is coming off of a start where it took him nearly 100 pitches to get through just five innings. That’s not a good sign of what’s to come in this start and the Rockies came into yesterday’s game having averaged 6.6 runs per game in their last 9 games. Yes, 6 of those 9 games were at home in hitter-friendly Denver but the fact remains that the Rockies were seeing the ball well at the plate and we look for them to bounce right back after scoring just two runs in last night’s game. An afternoon game in San Francisco is much more comfortable for a hitter than a nighttime affair in the chilly Pacific air. Last night’s game stayed just under the total…look for this afternoon’s game to get over the very low number. Cain has actually gone 0-3 and compiled a 6.00 ERA in his last four HOME starts against the Rockies! In other words, even though this game is at pitcher-friendly San Francisco rather than hitter-friendly Colorado, don’t automatically assume that this is going to be a pitchers duel.

We like the fact that Cain labored in his last start. We like the fact that he’s struggled in recent outings when hosting the Rockies at AT & T Park. Last, but certainly not least, we like the fact that the Giants lineup will be “teeing off” against a very inexperienced Rockies pitcher in this one. With Jorge De La Rosa having suffered an injury, it’s Esmil Rogers getting the start for Colorado. Rogers has only made one career MLB start and, in four career MLB appearances, only has tallied eight innings! The Giants are hitting .283 at home this season and they’re hitting a stellar .291 in day games. San Francisco should have no trouble with the offerings of Rogers here as he makes this surprise start and the Giants have scored at least five runs in four straight games. Two good bullpens are involved here but the Rockies bullpen has been overworked of late and they may not get much of a break here with Rogers making just his 2nd MLB start! Play OVER the total in San Francisco as an *8* Regular Play selection

The Duke's Sports

Boston (+7') for 3 Units

The Celtics have been an effective playoff dog at 9-3-1 ATS; moreover, they've knocked down 5 of their last 6 Saturday tilts. On the other hand, Cleveland has recently struggled as a favorite at 3-9 ATS, lost 4 of their last 5 ATS at home, and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 on Saturday. Cleveland's Jamison, who has great versatility, will give the Celtics some trouble, for Garnett will have to step out of the paint to guard him; however, Doc Rivers has, so far, made good adjustments and we'll look for him to push the right buttons here. And King James may be sluggish here after sustaining an elbow injury. Boston the call.
