Astros / Pirates Over 9.5

The Pirates have used up so many pitchers in the past couple of days that it's going to take them at least a week to get back into a normal rotation. Charlie Morton has been awful and I expect him to be pulled early in this game, making it even harder on this bullpen. Brett Myers takes the mound tonight for the Astros and has not looked focused and poised in his last few starts. We know from his days in Philadelphia that he is an erratic and inconsistent pitcher. Both teams should find their bats this afternoon and push this well over the total. Take the Over.

Cleveland -6

The Bulls got a big win the other night, but the Cavs will be ready to play this afternoon. This Chicago team has talent and will be good in the future, but I do not see Lebron James letting this go back to Cleveland tied. Cleveland is a far more talented team and will get a big road win today and be on their way to clinch this back home in Game 5. Take the Cavs.

10* Denver +2

For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the visitors:

With their backs against the wall, I expect the Nuggets to come out fired up in this one (like in Game 1), as they look to erase the memory of their last effort from their minds.

It was an overall lack of effort in Game 3, but I believe that Denver will make the necessary adjustments tonight; “Right now it’s easy for us to fix,” Carmelo Anthony said after practice Saturday and who is averaging 31 in this series. “But we’ve got to want to do it. If we don’t want to do it, we might as well pack our bags right now.”

Important to point out that Denver is 9-4 ATS after a loss by 10 points or more; which of course means that this team plays with a much more concerted effort on both ends of the floor after a sub par showing.

On the other side of the court: Utah has proved its pundits wrong by winning back-to-back contests with a couple of its key offensive stars sitting because of injury; however I believe that it's going to catch up with this team today against a determined Nuggets club.

Although its been getting balanced scoring, I look for Denver to key their efforts on stopping Derron Williams, who is the engine that drives this team.

Keep in mind that Utah is in fact just 2-7-2 ATS its last 11 vs. the Nuggets overall.

Bottom line: In my opinion there is no need to overanalyze this game; the Nuggets are an extremely talented team with their backs against the wall and I look for them to pound this ball and use their physicality to take the Jazz our of their game; look for DENVER to improve to 10-7 ATS as an underdog and for Utah to fall to 8-10 vs. division opponents this year;

Utah -2

After winning Game 1 with a second half masterpiece performance, the Nuggets have gone in the tank. They lost Game 2 at home when they allowed the Jazz to shoot 53% from the floor, then went to Utah and we’re beat up by the Jazz 105-93 to fall behind two games to one. Tonight, can the Nuggets rebound and even up the series? We don’t think so. The Jazz have shown that they might be better off without Okur and Kirilenko. The Jazz have been a big time money earner at home this season posting a 27-13 ATS record. The Jazz own these Nuggets here in Utah as they have now beaten Denver 25 of the last 29 times on their home court. It’s becoming more apparent that the Nuggets are in disarray without their coach. Utah takes the EDGE in this series. Play on Utah!

Cleveland -5.5

When Lebron James and the Cavaliers take on Derrick Rose and the Bulls in Chicago Sunday afternoon they will do so in a terrific winning spot. That's because .686 or greater road teams of a playoff loss as a favorite in which they allowed 104 or more points in the loss are 19-1-1 ATS if they scored 94 or more points in the defeat, including 17-0 ATS when facing a .725 or less opponent today. With the Cavs 4-0 SU and ATS in games off a loss versus an opponent off a SU underdog win this season, by an average win margin of more than 13 PPG, and the Bulls 0-3 ATS at home off a SU underdog win versus an opponent off a loss this season, we'll back the King and his court here today. We recommend a 3-unit play on Cleveland.
