The Sabres need one a little more though. They're currently 9th in the playoff race (although they have a few games in hand on 8th place Carolina) and only the top eight teams make the playoffs. Despite some recent struggles, the Capitals still remain in 5th place.
Despite a couple of recent losses, the Sabres and their fans are happy that their ownership situation appears to have been resolved. While the fans are excited about the new owner, coach Lindy Ruff has his team focusing on earning two points this afternoon. He was quoted as saying: "I'm worried about winning one game, about the team playing well and winning one game..."
These teams have split this season's two meetings. The Caps won at Washington. The Sabres won here at Buffalo. The Sabres are 34-24 the past few seasons, when coming off a loss by two or more goals. That includes a 9-5 (+3.4) mark their last 14 in that situation. I expect them to bounce back and pick up the important two points.

The Bonnies are a veteran team with 4 upper class-men starters. And they've been tough on the road ask St. John's whom they knocked off in early December. SB is a sweet 20-7 on the road against a team with a home winning percentage above .600. On the other hand, Richmond, which is coming off a tough loss to the class of the Atlantic 10 Temple has failed to cover in 4 attempts off losses, and we see an over-valuation with them here. The Spiders are 6-19-1 ATS as a home favorite in this spread range and failed to cover in 6 of their last 7 home games. The scrappy Bonnies are strong rebounders and disciplined enough on defense to take away Richmond's game 3 pt. play; after all, SB allows just 31% from the perimeter. Offensively, the Bonnies' Adegboye, Nicholson and Cook have great chemistry together to give them a fighting chance to stay in this one. SB the call.
