Michigan St Pk

Two weeks ago we had Michigan State thrown into a hole and halfway covered with dirt. But much like one of George Romero's infamous zombies, they just won't stay dead. Since 1999, the Spartans have not only come alive at this time of year, they've reached the NCAA Final Four six times, including back-to-back appearances the last two seasons. However, with 11 losses in the books this campaign, they'll need a sustained winning streak to get back to the Big Dance. According to our powerful database this is Tom Izzo's time to get even for earlier defeats - and there's nobody Sparty would love to topple right now more than Purdue. That's because a 10-point loss to the Boilers a month ago sent MSU into a Big Ten tailspin, going 2-4 SU with several embarrassing blowout losses (lost by 20 to Iowa!) before righting the ship with last week's win over Illinois. Still puffed up with pride over their recent takedown of Ohio State, Purdue finds itself caught between the "I's" here: 3-1 ATS away after Indiana and 6-16 ATS before Illinois. The Boilermakers also fare poorly in today's role, posting a dismal 4-11-1 ATS mark on the road versus a foe with double-digit same-season revenge. Michigan State counters with an excellent 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS record when seeking revenge in this series, plus the Spartans are 9-3 ATS with DD same-season loss revenge this decade - including 5-0 ATS the last five tries. Moreover, the Spartans are 11-0-1 ATS under Rizzo from Game 26 out when playing with three or more days of rest and same season revenge. Top it off with Sparty's 3-0-1 ATS success in conference revenge games this season and there's only one-way to look here today at the Breslin Center. We recommend a 3-unit play on Michigan State.

NY Rangers -125

I won with the Lightning on Thursday. They earned a 2-1 victory over New Jersey. They were playing with "double revenge" and playing at home for that game though. The shoe is on the other foot here. This time, the Lightning are on the road and this time they'll be taking on a "revenge-minded" team. With a rematch vs. the Devils on deck and playing their first and only road game of the entire month of February, I expect the Lightning to stumble here.

Note that the Lightning are 24-49 (-16.2) the past few seasons, when playing a road game with an O/U line of 5.5.

While the Lightning have won all three meetings this season, two of those were at Tampa. Even with a loss in the lone game here at MSG, the Rangers are still 7-2 the last nine times that they were a host in this series.

The Rangers are 20-16 (+5.1) the last 36 times that they were playing in the 'revenge' role. They're off back to back wins, most recently a very impressive 6-0 blowout win at Washington. I expect them to carry that momentum into this afternoon's game and look for them to come away with another important two points.
