Nick "BookieKiller" Parsons

MINNESOTA -8.5

For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this game is on Minnesota:

Jason Bohannon scored 18 points to lead the hot-shooting Badgers to a 62-44 victory over Michigan on Saturday.

The Badgers missed just seven shots in the first half but cooled off in the second. It mattered little, however, as Michigan (11-12, 4-7) made just one field goal in the first 8 minutes and never got closer than 12 points the rest of the game.

Wisconsin outrebounded the Wolverines 21-4 on the defensive glass and held Michigan’s Manny Harris—the conference’s second-leading scorer—to 11 points, almost eight below his average; I expect another letdown this evening.

Keep in mind that Michigan is just 1-5 SU its last six overall and a brutal 1-7 SU its last eight on the road.

On the other side of the court: Lawrence Westbrook’s long jumper as time expired capped a frantic final minute and Ralph Sampson III had 13 points and two key blocks late to lead Minnesota past Penn State 66-64 on Saturday.

Westbrook skipped to center court to join his jubilant teammates after his desperation shot from the left corner went in to give Minnesota (14-8, 5-5 Big Ten) just its second road victory of the season.

I expect this team to build off that victory in front of the home town faithful.

It's true that Minnesota is 0-5 ATS its last five overall, however it always plays tough at home; 6-3 ATS its last nine at Williams Arena.

Bottom line: Look for MINNESOTA to improve to 6-2 ATS this year when playing against a team with a losing record and for Michigan to fall to 3-4 ATS after scoring 60 points or less in its previous contest!

6* MINNESOTA

OTTAWA SENATORS +115

Calgary must bring out the best in some NHL teams, because home teams are 22-5 SU after they play Calgary this year. Elliot should get the nod and he’s 13-4 at home this year. When OTTAWA played as a home team - During Last 3 Years - With SU Record of 6 Win 1 Lost in L7G; the Senators are 10-1 SU in this cycle. (2*) Take Ottawa.

DENVER NUGGETS -5.5

This is the BEST SCENARIO on the planet to take Denver. A home team for starters. A team that can score lights out at home against a struggling team. This is in the altitude and that makes a huge difference because this is the 5th straight road game for the Spurs, which is always a go against spot. The Spurs will struggle against the fast paced offense and the Spurs defense is a shell of it old self. The Spurs are a bad TNT team, they are 1-7 ATS their last 8 on TNT. A no brainer for me here.

Play 2 Units on Denver.

YOUNGSTOWN ST +13

Youngstown State is only allowing 63.5 points per game at home this year. The last 4 meetings between these two have resulted in Youngstown State losing by 8 points, 9 points, 13 points and winning outright by 2 points. I feel like with Youngstown State's defense stepping it up the way they do at home they should keep this one close. Also, Butler could be caught looking past this team tonight and looking at Saturday's matchup at Cleveland State. Cleveland State is currently #2 in the Horizon League right behind Butler and looks to be the only thing in their way of a perfect season in Conference play. We'll play Youngstown State for 3 units tonight!

MISSISSIPPI +4.5

We used this same rivalry matchup, known as the "Egg Bowl" on the football field, as our 20* SEC Game of the Month for January and came out on the wrong end with the Rebels, who lost 80-75 as 3.5-point favorites. That was a tough loss to swallow as Ole Miss led 42-37 at the half only to get outscored by ten points after halftime. The Rebels led by as many as nine points in the game, turned the ball over six less times than their counterparts and their reserves outscored the Bulldogs bench by a whopping 38-7 margin. MSU PG Dee Bost scored a career high 25 points in that game, but he has a bad wrist for the rematch, which is a good thing. Don't be surprised to see Ole Miss HC Andy Kennedy make a switch on the defensive end, putting the versatile Polynice on Bost to neutralize him in the open floor. While Miss State is dealing with injuries, Mississippi is getting a key body back in F Buckner, who returns for the first time since 1.28 when he injured his ankle. The Rebels lost two times in his absence, once as 12-point favorites to Arkansas, a game that had to be rescheduled due to weather. But that loss to the Hogs doesn't look as bad when you consider they also beat Mississippi State the game before. They keys here are that the Rebels are 13-4 ATS in all road games the last two seasons, including a perfect 6-0 ATS when playing with revenge. This is a critical game in the winnable SEC West with both teams within a game of division leader Alabama. Mississippi is our 20* SEC Game of the Month.

Nick "BookieKiller" Parsons

Stanford / Washington St. Under 149

For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the "under":

DeAngelo Casto scored 19 points and blocked three shots as Washington State beat Arizona 78-60 on Saturday, knocking the Wildcats out of a tie for first place in the Pac-10.

Klay Thompson had 14 points and Reggie Moore 12 points for the Cougars (15-8, 5-6), who had lost three straight. Washington State held Arizona to 42 percent shooting to sweep the season series.

It's interesting to point out that Washington State has seen the total go "under" the posted number in two of three games this year when playing against a team with a losing record.

On the other side of the court: USC had the late-game heroics this time against Stanford, avenging an earlier one-point road loss by scoring the game's final six points Saturday for a 54-49 victory.

Stanford (10-13, 4-7), which has yet to win a Pac-10 road game in seven attempts, missed a jump shot and a free throw down the stretch, and USC closed it out with four straight free throws.

Keep in mind that the total has gone "under" the posted number in four of Stanford's last six at home overall.

Bottom line: When taking all of the above into account, the sharp money in this one is indeed on the UNDER!

7*
