The Duke's Sports

Minnesota (-1) for 2 Units

We're going to look for the Gophers to break out of their 0-8 ATS slide here. Minnesota is coming off two straight road losses and desperately need to win here. And after blowing a big lead to Northwestern last Sunday, Tubby Smith most assuredly used the 3 days off to strike urgency in his team. Gophers have done well in this series under Smith at 3-0 ATS, including sweeping the Badgers last season. The Minnesota defense is better in some areas , especially on their home floor, than defensive minded Wisconsin, locking down opponents to 38% from the floor and 34% from 3 point range. We'll look for Minnesota to "D" up tonight and, at the same time, get Lawrence Westbrook back on track offensively after all, he hung 22 ppg on Wisconsin last year in the series sweep. Minnesota the call.

Nuggets +6.5 over Cavs

The Denver Nuggets visit the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight in a showdown between two of the NBA's best teams. The Cavs are definitely on a high right now due to the recent acquisition of Antwan Jamison. I actually think this was not as good of a deal as the Cavs are making it out to be. The loss of Zydrunas Ilgauskus is going to be a big blow defensively for Cleveland. Anderson Verajeo and Shaquille O'Neal are decent big men down low. Without Big Z, the Cavs lost a step defensively, which will limit the huge momentum swings that they always rely on to win games (especially at home). This game is going to be a trial and error game to see where Jamison fits in well and there will be times that the Cavs look confused on both ends of the floor. On a side note, the Denver Nuggets are title contenders as well, and they should never be a 6.5 point underdog. Take the Nuggets +6.5.
