Joe Nelson

Pacific at Appalachian State
Pick: Appalachian State -3

The Southern Conference has held up well in recent postseason tournaments and this is a huge opportunity for Appalachian State to make a tournament run in the Insider’s Tournament. This game was originally scheduled for Wednesday and although the extra time may benefit Pacific it has been a hectic couple of days, playing in Colorado earlier in the week and now facing what will technically be a sixth consecutive game away from home. The Tigers are here based on a few narrow wins while the Mountaineers have been dominant with a blowout home win over a very solid Harvard team and a dominant win on the road against a very solid Marshall team. Appalachian State took Wofford the distance in the conference championship game and the Mountaineers and after an up-and-down start to the season this is a team playing its best right now. Appalachian State went 14-3 S/U at home this season and the travel situation appears to be too much for Pacific to overcome.
