Bob Balfe

Florida Marlins/New York Mets Over 7

The Mets have been a hot hitting team as of late. They could really do some major damage if they stop leaving men on base. Santana is a good pitcher, but he has allowed his fair share of runs this year. Look for both teams to put up enough offense to send this over the total.

The Duke's Sports

Cleveland Over (194) for 2.5 Units

The Cavaliers played a listless brand of basketball Tuesday. Tonight, we'll look for more energy and creating scoring options to relieve pressure off LeBron. At the same time, we don't expect a quick defensive fix by the Cavaliers; after all, they're 6-1 O/U after allowing 100+; moreover, Boston is 6-0 O/U when their opponent allows 100+ in the previous game, and they're 5-1 O/U after scoring 100+. This series is 7-2 O/U in its last 9 meetings, and 4-1 O/U in Boston.

3 Units New York Mets +119

I feel that this game is a good chance to take advantage of value and some false perceptions. Johan Santana is coming off of a rough outing two starts ago, and he allowed four runs in his last start. However, before those starts he allowed only 2 runs in 25 innings over 4 starts! Those dominating performances came against good hitting line-ups like St. Louis and Los Angeles. The other two starts came against Florida and Chicago. Santana has also dominated Florida over his career. Josh Johnson has pitched well against New York though, and he has been more consistent this season. However, New York has the hotter hitting line-up, and they have the better bullpen. Even though the Marlins went .500 on their recent road trip, they really didn't hit the ball well. Florida has struggled at times to score over 3 runs, while New York's line-up has hit much better lately. They have averaged .250 as a team in 5 out of their last 7 games as well. New York also has the better bullpen overall. I look for the Mets to use their better hitting line-up and a dominating performance by Santana to get the win at an underdog price.
