MATT FARGO

9* Phoenix / Chicago Under 204

Phoenix is coming off one of its worst games of the season and with the playoffs now a distant memory, the Suns must play out the rest of the season knowing it will be done in a week. Against San Antonio, the Suns dug their worst halftime deficit of the season at 70-46 by allowing a 44-14 Spurs run over the middle 12 minutes of the half. The Spurs' 70 points were the most the Suns had surrendered in a first half all season. Even though the postseason is not going to happen, the defensive effort picks up because of that. Chicago continues to pace the Eastern Conference as it is two and a half games ahead of the Heat and three games ahead of the Celtics with just a handful of games remaining. Defense has gotten the Bulls here and we can expect that defense to continue at home tonight. Chicago has been a profitable 'under' team all season long but recently things have gone the other way as the Bulls have gone 'over' in three straight and are 8-1 to the 'over' in their last nine games. That provides huge value for the other side. Meanwhile Phoenix is coming off that high-scoring game against the Spurs and it is 3-1 to the 'over' in its last four games and 6-2 to the 'over' in its last eight games so that is also providing value here. The Suns defense is one of the worst in the NBA as they are allowing 105.7 ppg which is fourth worst in the NBA and while that is a concern about letting Chicago score at will, the Bulls do not possess that type of offense and if anything, that Phoenix defense is helping to inflate this number. The first meeting this season saw a total of 238 points scored but that game did go into overtime and it was actually a winner with the 'under' at the end of regulation. This ended up being a rare 'over' as Chicago is 11-4 to the 'under' this season when the total is 200 or greater. The 'under' is 5-2 in the Bulls last seven games after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game and 7-3 in their last 10 games after their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.

The Duke's Sports

LA Angels (-107) for 2 Units

Both teams struggling but TB's problems are deeper. The Rays can't manufacture runs (3 combined runs in 3 games). If you can't produce runs, then you better lock down opposing batters with your pitching; unfortunately, the Rays' top of rotation starters carry a 4.35ERA with Jeff Niemann -- debuting the season after battling shoulder problems last season. Niemann sports a bloated 9.38 ERA in 5 starts vs the Angels. On the other hand, the Angels' bullpen has been dreadful; however, they have a few hot bats that should produce enough runs to quell their bullpen deficiencies. And we'll look for Jered Weaver to continue his success vs the Rays. Weaver is 4-1 in his last 5 starts vs TB. He looked solid in his season debut and should continue his success against a TB lineup that is still searching to fill the void of departed Crawford and Pena, and injured Longoria. Los Angeles the call.

Marc Lawrence

Oklahoma City +5.5

When the Thunder travels to Denver to meet the Nuggets Tuesday evening Oklahoma CIty will take the court off back-to-back losses with revenge on their minds. That sets the table for tonight's fray as we note the Thunder is 21-4-1 ATS in games off a SU and ATS loss the last two seasons when facing an opponent off a win, including 15-1-1 ATS if the foe is off a win off less than 10 points. With Denver off a revenge win over the Lakers and just 1-6 SU and 0-7 ATS in games after upsetting the Lakers, look for the Thunder to gain their revenge here tonight. We recommend a 3-unit play on Oklahoma City.
