NBA Opinion

L.A. Lakers (-9) over MINNESOTA

Minnesota is coming off a rare win, but the Timberwolves apply to a negative 52-120-3 ATS letdown situation based on that victory over Golden State. Minnesota is just 24-58-1 ATS hosting teams with a winning record the past 4 seasons, including 4-12 ATS this season and they’re 1-5 ATS hosting the Lakers. The only negative is that the Lakers are just 10-16 ATS as a road favorite of 8 points or more the last few seasons (2-3 this season), but my ratings favor the Lakers by 9½ points and I’ll lean with the Lakers minus the points.

College Opinion

WYOMING (+11½) over San Diego State

Wyoming lost by 39 points at San Diego State 4 weeks ago but the Cowboys apply to a 100-38-3 ATS situation that plays on teams that were beaten by huge margins in the first meeting. Wyoming has played well at home (8-2-1 ATS) and the Cowboys are 4-0 ATS as a home underdog this season with a straight up win over New Mexico and competitive losses to UNLV, BYU, and Colorado State. My ratings favor San Diego State by 12½ points but it may be tough for the Aztecs to get up for this game after their emotionally charged home loss to BYU on national TV on Saturday.

Lenny Del Genio

Florida -6

The two SEC division leaders both enter off a loss with Florida losing by eight at Kentucky and 'Bama losing outright at Ole Miss. The Tide's loss to Mississippi was far more damning as the 14th ranked Gators are considered a lock for the NCAA Tournament while Alabama's at-large status is far more precarious. The key here is 'Bama's poor road play as they are just 4-9 SU away from Tuscaloosa this season. Two of those wins came against LSU and Auburn - the two worst teams in the SEC. The Tide have lost eight straight road games against teams ranked in the Top 25, a streak that dates back to 2004. Playing here in Gainesville has also been a challenge for Alabama, as they are 0-7 SU and allowing over 80 PPG since Florida HC Billy Donovan took over in the 1996-97 season. While the Tide do lead the SEC in total defense this year, Florida isn't far behind yielding only 62.3 PPG and Bama has been struggling offensively of late. In their last two games, they've shot 26.2% and 43.9% from the floor. Making matters worse is the fact that the Tide is 0-6 ATS this season on the road off an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS when taking six points or less away from home. This is line is simply too small considering Alabama's road struggles and also you know that Florida HC Donovan would love nothing more to beat former pupil and now Alabama HC Grant again after doing so last year in Tuscaloosa. Florida is our SEC Game of the Month.
