Miami at UNC
Pick: UNC -4

Miami has lost all six of its ACC road games by six points or more. The 'Canes have lost nine of their last 12 games. North Carolina is coming off its best performance in weeks, winning 77-68 at Wake Forest as a seven-point underdog. The Tar Heels want to send Marcus Ginyard and Deon Thompson out on a winning note for Senior Night at the Dean Dome. Give me UNC as a short favorite.

4* (POD) Miami Heat First Quarter -3

Miami struggled without Wade. Now, Wade back & the pressure mounts to protect home court & a precarious playoff spot. In other words, this is a must win for the Heat. Beasley, coming off poor performance vs. Orlando, is under pressure to step up & I think he will tonight. Plus, team, big-time due for a strong performance at home. Golden State are notoriously slow starters, especially lately & come to town having a hard time fielding 8 players. Out are Ellis & Biedrins, not to mention, a "mash unit" already gone for the season. I'm looking for Wade to have a monster 1st Quarter & the team to come out focused, in order to take a young, short-handed Warriors team out of the game early.

Youngstown State vs. Wisc Green Bay
Play: Wisc Green Bay -9

If you plan on fading Wisconsin Green Bay in the Resch Center, you better have a darn good reason. The Phoenix have posted a noteworthy 34-9 SU and 21-15 ATS record in their own backyard including a profitable 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games priced as a favorite of -8 or more.

First round road teams in the Horizon League Conference Tournament haven't done very well either. Dating back to the 2004 tourney, Horizon guests in the "donkey" round are a soft 3-17 SU and 7-12-1 ATS including a miserable 1-14 SU and 3-12 ATS in this situation facing a foe that hold a won/loss percentage of .500 or better.

Youngstown State limps into this game with only one straight up victory in its last 14 tries and the Penguins have dropped nine games in a row. If you're worried about YSU's double-revenge motivation here, don't be. According to my college basketball database, donkey round guests in conference tournament action are a woeful 0-15 SU and 3-12 ATS provided they are running with three days of rest or less, priced as a dog of +7' or more and take the court in a double payback mode. The Penguins fit this "play against" system perfectly.

State has dropped 12 straight as a Horizon guest and stand just 1-9 SU and 4-6 ATS on this floor against the Phoenix. The Penguins just want this season to end. Take Wisconsin Green Bay.

Missouri vs. Iowa State
Play: Missouri -5

Off Saturday's 10-point loss at Kansas State and with a home war against Kansas on deck, Missouri won't screw around here. With a victory at Ames, the Tigers will finish 4-4 SU on the Big 12 road and lock up no worse than the No. 5 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

One thing head coach Mike Anderson's troops have been able to do is bounce back off a straight up loss. In fact, coming off a straight up blemish, Missouri stands 12-1 SU and 10-1 ATS in its last 13 tries including a spotless 10-0 SU and ATS in this situation when favored. Please note: Those 10 victories haven't been close either - the Tigers have won by an average of 21.2 points per game.

Knocking off Iowa State shouldn't be a problem for Mizzou. The Cyclones just aren't playing good basketball right now. In fact, ISU is on a 2-10 SU and 4-8 ATS in its last 12 games. State has struggled against good teams too. When battling a foe that holds a won/loss percentage greater than .700, the Cyclones have recorded a dismal 5-34 SU and 12-25-2 ATS mark. Finally, as a home dog or pick facing a foe that enters off a straight up loss, Iowa State has dropped 10 of its last 16 to the Las Vegas number.

In their last 32 in conference play, the Tigers have posted a spiffy 24-8 SU and 22-10 ATS record including a perfect 8-for-8 SU and ATS coming off a straight up loss. Mizzou's pressure defense will be too much for ISU to handle. Take Missouri.

Villanova vs. Cincinnati
Play: Villanova -3

Villanova will be one of the top four seeds in the Big East Tournament. That fact has already been determined. Unfortunately, the Wildcats - losers of three of their last four including that 18 points spanking at Syracuse on Saturday night - aren't playing like one. That will change on Tuesday night.

Head coach Jay Wright's Cats have been solid coming off a blowout loss of 10 points or more posting a perfect 6-0 SU record in their last six tries and have won by an average of 14.5 points per game. Equally impressive, Villanova stands 21-14 ATS priced as a road favorite versus a winning team and 6-1 SU and ATS in its last seven on foreign soil coming off a straight up road loss. Obviously, those team trends are noteworthy but this next conference situation really makes this investment pop.

According to my college basketball database, Big East home underdogs battling a foe that sports a won/loss percentage of .800 or better are a dismal 2-20 SU and 5-15-2 ATS in their last 22 tries. That's not the worst part. Late in the season at game 16 or later, this conference situation drops to a shocking 0-12 SU and 0-11-1 ATS. Please note: Those 12 losses have come by an average of 14.1 points per game!

Cincinnati has recorded a soft 6-9 SU and 3-11 ATS record in its last 15 games and the Bearcats just aren't playing very well. To make matters worse, Cincy is a soft 13-24-3 ATS as a Big East host matched up against an opponent that arrives without momentum off a straight up loss including a woeful 0-8 ATS in this role provided the Bearcats carry a won/loss percentage of .600 or less.

The Wildcats got rocked for 95 points by the Orangemen and that poor defensive performance had Coach Wright furious. Rest assured, the Cats will play much better on both sides of the ball here. Take Villanova.
