Jeff Benton

20 Dime Detroit

Forget about the fact Detroit has won two in a row and five of its last seven (with all five being upset victories, including Monday’s 103-96 upset of the Magic as a 12-point road underdog).

And forget about the fact Detroit has won three in a row, four of five and six of eight at home (including victories over the Suns, Mavericks, Celtics and Hornets).

What matters most here is that Denver simply can’t win in Motown. You have to go back to 1995 for the last time the Nuggets beat the Pistons in Detroit – we’re talking 14 consecutive losses at The Palace! Even if you throw in home games, Denver is just 2-9 SU in the last 11 against Detroit and 3-14 ATS in the last 17 (with the Pistons cashing in the last six in a row, going 5-1 SU).

Along with history not being on the Nuggets’ side tonight, neither is the schedule. Denver played in Washington last night (rolling to a 120-109 victory as a 4½-point home favorite), and it is just 1-6 ATS in its last seven playing on back-to-back nights. Also, this game marks the Nuggets’ fifth game since last Wednesday.

More anti-Nuggets info: Despite winning in Washington last night, Denver is just 4-12 in its last 16 road games; George Karl’s club hasn’t won consecutive games on the same road trip all season; and going back to last year, the Nuggets are in a 7-20-2 ATS freefall on the road.

As noted before, the Pistons have taken down the likes of Phoenix, Dallas, Boston and New Orleans at home. They also took the Bulls to overtime (95-92 loss) and beat Atlanta – and this is all since Dec. 14. In fact, going back to that 103-80 rout of the Hawks as a four-point home pup, Detroit is on a 13-7 ATS tear.

Speaking of pointspread trends, check these out: The Pistons are on ATS runs of 5-1 as an underdog, 6-1 as a home underdog and 12-4 when catching less than five points, while Denver is in ATS funks of 9-19-2 against Central Division teams, 14-32-5 versus losing teams and 5-16 as a road favorite of less than five points.

Bottom line: This is one of the easiest plays of the NBA season so far, as the Pistons make it 15 in a row over Denver at home.

Lenny Del Genio

15* Orlando/Indiana Under 199

The Pacers have gone Under in 15 of 20 games this season vs. teams with a winning record. They are also 15-5 Under in home games, 39-18 Under hosting teams from the Southeast Division & 14-2 Under when playing for the 6th or fewer time in a 14 day span. Orlando is 43-19 Under off an ATS loss, 12-2 Under on the road off a SU loss as a favorite & 16-3 Under after allowing 100+ pts in BB Games. Furthermore, when these teams last met (on 11.20.10), they combined for just 176 points, staying well below the number.

Marc Lawrence

3 Units Oklahoma City -5

Kevin Durant and the Thunder travel to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves in a Northwest Division battle at the Target Center knowing Oklahoma City is 18-3 ATS away from home off a loss of less than 20 points since last season, including 5-0 ATS as a favorite. They are also 11-1 ATS as road favorites of five or less points and 12-6 ATS the last 18 games as a visitor in this series. With that. look for the Timberwolves to dip to 1-9 ATS as division home dogs of five or less points here tonight.
