Matt Fargo

Tennessee vs. Florida
Play: Florida -12.5

Florida heads home from its ugly embarrassing loss at Kentucky on Tuesday and things should get ugly in Gainesville Saturday afternoon. The Gators lost by 20 points to the Wildcats as they were dominated in nearly every aspect of the game. They were outshot by nearly 18 percent from the floor while getting outrebounded by 10 boards. The three-point shots were not falling for Florida and that is something that they have relied on this season in their 7-2 SEC record. Not only is Florida looking to get some respect back after that Kentucky game but it will be also out to smack around Tennessee which gave the Gators their only other conference loss. Florida was all out of sorts in that game as well as it was outshot by a ton and its long balls were not finding the rim. The Gators are 2-5 on the road this season so a loss in Knoxville actually was not that surprising but a repeat certainly would be as Florida is a perfect 15-0 on its home floor. Tennessee is coming off a couple lopsided win but both of those games were at home where they are a solid 11-3. The problem has been on the road where the Volunteers have yet to win, going 0-7 including an 0-4 record in the SEC. Two of the games have been close but the latest two were losses by 18 and 25 points against Vanderbilt and Kentucky respectively. Tennessee is getting outscored by nearly 12 ppg on the road as the offense is averaging just 57 ppg on 38.5 percent shooting. In the game against Kentucky, Florida shot 22.2 percent (6-27) from beyond the arc and 34.9 percent overall, both season lows. The Volunteers defense has been pretty solid this season but the numbers inflate when hitting the road. Not only is Tennessee winless on the road this season but the Volunteers have lost eight of their last nine road games against top 25 opponents. Going back to last season, the Gators have won 19 consecutive games at home and we can make it 20 in blowout fashion.

Valparaiso vs. Youngstown State
Play: Valparaiso

Valpo has won 17 of the 20 in the series and the first meeting between these two by 14 points. They have won 11 of 14 in conference play and 7 of 10 vs losing teams. They have won 5 of 7 after scoring 60 or less and 7 of 9 after allowing 60 or less. Youngstown St is 1-6 as a home dog of 3 or less and has dropped 16 of the last 19 in the month of February, 6 of 9 vs winning teams and 22 of the last 28 with road loss revenge. Look for Valparaiso to cash here.

Marc Lawrence

California @ UCLA
PICK: UCLA

Many of today's young college hoops fans don’t realize how good you’ve got it with the NCAA’s current version of March Madness. When we were pups back in the ‘60’s, the battle for college basketball’s top spot was pretty much the same every year: who’s going to play UCLA for the title? That’s because coach John Wooden’s teams won SEVEN consecutive national championships from 1966 through 1973, a stat that still boggles the mind. Today’s edition of the Bruins is a far cry from those dominant squads of yesteryear: at 13-10, UCLA may not get invited to the Big Dance unless they pull off a stunner in the Pac-12 tournament. But that doesn’t mean we can’t make a few bucks off of ‘em in the right spot - 7-3 ATS last 10 games - and this looks like one. Cal battered the Bruins by 16 points on New Year’s Eve and UCLA usually finds a way to get even in the rematch, going 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS of late in this series. The hosts can also boast a moneymaking 11-5 ATS record when playing with same-season revenge as dogs of 10 or more points or favorites of less than 4 points – as long as they own a winning record. The Berkeley Bears have scratched out a meager 10-16 SU and ATS mark when playing away off a road game versus a foe with SSR, and every Cal loss this year has come against a foe with a winning record. With legendary Pauley Pavilion under renovation (will open again in fall of 2012), the Bruins started the season 1-4 in their first five games at the makeshift home court at Los Angeles Sports Arena. Since then, however, UCLA has settled in and is riding a 8-2 SU streak. With value aplenty from the the Bears off a 26-point romp at USC on Thursday, and the linemaker cow-towing to Bruin starting forward Travis Wear being hobbled with a high ankle sprain, look for the Uclans to chalk up another one. We recommend a 1-unit play on UCLA.

Jim Feist

San Francisco vs San Diego
Pick: San Francisco

San Francisco is 16-10 on the season and playing great, winning 6 of 8 games. This team is 36th in the nation on offense with 75.6 ppg. The Dons are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 27-11 ATS in their last 38 against the West Coast Conference. San Diego (10-14) is one of the worst rebounding teams in the nation, as well as 13-27-1 ATS in their last 41 games vs. a team with a winning record and 16-34-1 ATS in their last 51 home games. And the Dons are 5-0-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. Play San Francisco!

Scott Spreitzer

Wichita State at Creighton
Prediction: Creighton

The Blue Jays were "sitting pretty" on top of the league standings for quite some time, but just dropped a pair of road games at Northern Iowa and Evansville. The Jays looked about as flat as they have all season in the loss to the Purple Aces. But the joint will be jumping in Omaha, and Creighton will be highly motivated to gain the season sweep over the current 1st place Shockers. A loss at home would drop the Jays 2 games back of Wichita in the league standings. Creighton had a season low 57 possessions last time out and nearly half of their shots came from behind the arc. They were simply off-kilter against Evansville. The Jays don't fall off-kilter much in Omaha. They're 12-1 SU this season, winning their last 4 at home by an average score of 85-63. The Shockers limited Doug McDermott to 9 shots and 12 points in their December meeting. But while doubling McDermott, they had no answer for Antoine Young, who led the Jays with 19. Creighton also has Gregory Echenique to go toe-to-toe with Wichita big man Garrett Stutz. Echenique shut Stutz down in the 68-61 CU victory. Wichita has covered just 5 of their last 21 as a road dog of less than 7 points and they're 1-7 ATS in their last 8 as a dog, overall. Meanwhile, the Jays take care of business at home, currently on a 17-4 ATS run as home chalk. I'm recommending a play on Creighton on Saturday.

Hollywood Sports

Vancouver Canucks at Calgary Flames
Prediction: Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks (34-15-0-5) have now won three games in a row and six of their last seven after their 5-2 win at Minnesota on Thursday. Vancouver has won 16 of their last 21 games after scoring at least five goals in their last contest. The Canucks have also won 4 of their last 5 games following a win. Vancouver is also a very reliable road warrior that has won 20 of their last 26 road games as a small favorite in the -110 to -150 price range. Calgary (25-22-4-4) enters this game off their 2-1 loss at Phoenix on Thursday. The Flames return home after three straight games on the road but they have lost 4 of their last 5 home games as an underdog in the +110 to +150 price range. Calgary will also be playing their third game over the last four days and they have lost 5 of their last 6 three-in-four situations. The Flames have also lost 8 of their last 10 games against teams with a winning percentage over 60%. With the money line under -150, the opportunity to take Vancouver at less than 3:2 odds offer good value here. Take the Canucks with the money in this one.

Vegas Experts

Denver Nuggets at Indiana Pacers
Play: Indiana Pacers

Injuries have caught up w/ the Nuggets, who are now 0-5 SU/ATS last five games, including four outright losses. Tonight, they visit a Pacers team off a loss last night in Memphis. We look for Indiana to pick up the win & cover as they are allowing just 88.8 points per game at home. This is the first time all season that they are off back to back SU losses. They are 89-59 ATS off back to back ATS losses and 6-2 ATS this year off a SU loss.

Nick "The BookieKiller" Parsons

Blackhawks @ Coyotes
PICK: Under 5.5

For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the "under":

The Blackhawks are 29-19-4-3; they're coming off seven-straight losses, including a 5-3 setback at San Jose last night.

I played against Chicago in that one.

The O/U is 30-25-0.

Ray Emery is expected between the pipes for the visitors; his team is 0 for 13 with the man advantage on its nine-game road trip; “We just need to get out of this, and we just have to battle through it,” Marian Hossa said. “The way this thing is happening isn’t any fun right now. If we get an ugly win, we’ll be able to get out of it.”

On the other bench: The Coyotes are 26-21-3-5; they've won four straight including a 2-1 OT win over Calgary on Thursday.

Mike Smith is scheduled in net for the home side; Smith stopped 23-shots for the win.

“This is how things will be and we need to find ways to get points,’” coach Dave Tippett said. “This game wasn’t pretty, but we’ll stick the two points in the bank and move forward.”

Smith has won all three of his starts vs. Chicago while posting a 1.30 GAA in the process.

Bottom line: Chicago is desperate for a win, and must risk life and limb here to get into shooting and passing lanes; after last night's game, this team will have to play extremely disciplined tonight.

That said, Phoenix has a big opportunity to continue its climb up the leaderboard, and take advantage of a struggling Blackhawks side, as it looks to duplicate the "recipe for success" that it had from its last outing.

Consider a second look at the "under" in this one.

Ben Burns

Montreal Canadiens @ Toronto Maple Leafs
PICK: Toronto Maple Leafs

I successfully played against the Leafs in their last game. However, that was at Philadelphia against a very determined Flyers team. The Leafs lost 4-3. The Leafs are back home in Toronto tonight though. Facing arch-rival Montreal, they should have a solid shot at bouncing back with an important victory.

The Canadiens are off three straight wins. Two of those game at home though and the third was at Long Island. They'll be a tougher venue tonight though as the Leafs are a respectable 16-12 (+2.3) at home.

The Canadiens, who average only 2.4 goals per game on the road, are managing only 2.1 goals per game against divisional opponents. The Canadiens rank dead last in the NHL on the power-play; they're converting only 12.7% of their power plays. That make scoring difficult, particularly when facing a Toronto team which hasn't allowed a power play goal yet in 2012!

Off their 4-2 win over the Isles, note that the Canadiens are a poor 3-10 (-8.6) after scoring four or more in their previous game.

While the Canadiens are 5-11 (-5.8) when playing a road game with an O/U line of 5.5, the Leafs are 15-12 (+1.4) when playing a home game with an O/U line of 5.5. Consider Toronto

Scott Rickenbach

L.A. Clippers @ Charlotte
PICK: Under 190

The Los Angeles Clippers are realizing just how fragile their backcourt was since losing veteran guard Chauncey Billups to an Achilles injury and watching second-year guard Eric Bledsoe struggle with his recovery from knee surgery. Los Angeles’ offense scored just 78 points in a win against the Philadelphia 76ers Friday, shooting 38.8 percent from the field – most notably 2 for 19 from the 3-point arc. Without Billups and Bledsoe knocking down shots from outside, opposing defenses are sagging off and plugging up the paint in an effort to slow the Clippers’ powerful frontcourt combo of Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Los Angeles has played under the total in four of its last five games – three of those coming on this current six-game road trip. The Charlotte Bobcats are the standard by which all struggling offenses are set in the NBA. The Bobcats managed only 64 points in a loss to the Chicago Bulls Friday and average just 86.3 points a night – dead last in the NBA. Reserve Derrick Brown was the only player to score in double figures in the loss to the Bulls, which marked the eighth time in the last 10 outings that Charlotte has stayed under the total. With the Clippers turning to defense to get them through the rest of their road trip, and the Bobcats still missing three of its top three offensive threats (Henderson, Augustin, Maggette), expect the under trend to continue in Charlotte.

Stephen Nover

L.A. Clippers @ Charlotte
PICK: Charlotte +10

It's a given the Bobcats are the worst team in the league. They have lost 13 in a row.

But the NBA regular-season is all about situations and health. The Bobcats are in a good spot here and they have a key scorer back in Corey Maggette. He returned Friday night against Chicago and played 14 minutes after missing the previous 19 games with a strained hamstring. He's expected to start tonight and figures to be less rusty.

The Bobcats are a frustrated lot. They were hopeless to do anything about it last night facing the Bulls. They have an easier opponent tonight in the Clippers.

The Clippers are vastly improved, but this marks their fifth road game in eight days. The Clippers' guard depth is down with the loss of Chauncey Billups for the season.

It's a letdown spot, too, for the Clippers. They upset the 76ers in Philadelphia Friday night, winning by one point on a basket in the final seconds. It's going to be hard for the Clippers to get up for this matchup.

The Clippers are 3-9-1 ATS the past 13 times they've faced a foe with a losing home record.

1 Unit UNLV -10

By installing 14th-ranked San Diego State as a 10-point dog at 16th-ranked UNLV, odds makers are begging for action on the Aztecs. We won't oblige them. Motivated by a 2-point loss at Wyoming in its last game, and further fueled by a 2-point loss at San Diego State on Jan. 4, UNLV will be ready to run up the score. It is also worth noting that UNLV needs this game to pull even with SDSU in the Mountain West standings (another motivational angle).

The Runnin' Rebels have been dominant at home to say the least. They are 13-0 on their home floor with 23.2-point average margin of victory. One of these wins came against New Mexico, who is currently tied with them at 5-2 in the MWC, by 15 points. Another came against Colorado State, who crushed San Diego State by 17, by 19 points.

SDSU has overachieved to this point, and with games against UNLV, New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado State remaining, the Aztecs could come back down to earth in a hurry. I expect them to get a harsh dose of reality this afternoon.

The Runnin' Rebels are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite. Lay the points.

La.-Lafayette -6.5

UL-Lafayette rattled off a school-tying 11 consecutive wins to earn a share of the SBC-West Division last year but the problem was, the Ragin' Cajuns had opened the season by losing 11 of their first 14. A loss to Western Ky in their first SBC tourney game left them 14-15 on the season. All in all, it wasn't a bad first season for head coach Bob Martin. Three starters and three key reserves returned this year plus Vandy transfer McClellan (a 6-7 forward) joined the team. Lafayette enters 14-12 overall and 8-4 in leaguer play, trailing only 9-2 Arkansas -LR. Unfortunately for UL-Lafayette fans, the Trojans just edged the Ragin' Cajuns Thursday night in Lafayette, 72-70 in OT. As for the Red Wolves, they are 10-16 overall and 4-7 in the West. Arkansas St misses guard Trey Finn (9.9-5.5) who is suffering from a knee injury and hasn't played in a game since January 26th. The team has depth on the perimeter but only Hooten (11.2) is much of a player. Up front, the 6-8 Kirkland (11.8-5.9) and the 6-7 Peterson (9.3-8.0) form a solid duo but again, there's little other help. In comparison, seven Lafayette players are averaging 21-plus minutes, scoring between 6.0 and 10.9 PPG. The team can score some (70.3 PPG) and defensively, allows a solid 39.4% on opposing FG attempts (27th in the nation). Guard Brown (10.9-6.5) leads in scoring and rebounding while a trio of forwards all own solid numbers in Coleby (10.3-5.0), Thomas (9.8-5.6) and McClellan (9.2-5.7). Arkansas St just lost Thursday night in Mobile to South Alabama, 74-57 and here catch the Ragin' Cajuns off a disappointing OT loss to Ark-LR. The Red Wolves are in the WRONG place at the WRONG time. Lay it with the home team.
