Situational Analysis
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
After starting the year 6-1, and averaging 5.3 GPG, Tampa Bay has been outscored 21-12 during an 0-5-1 slide. Martin St. Louis leads the team with 19 points: "We're all disappointed with where we're at, I feel like we wasted a good start," St. Louis. "But we're fighting here, we're trying to keep plugging away and finding answers. I don't think we got away from it, I just think we had a favorable schedule, playing teams on back-to-backs, backup goalies, tons of power plays that was clicking. So that helps getting your team off to a good start." A date vs. the Panthers is just what the doctor ordered as Tampa Bay has outscored them 21-10 during a five game win streak in the series.

Florida goaltender Jose Theodore has allowed a combined 10 goals in going 0-1-2 over his last three vs. the Lightning. Tampa Bay goaltender Mathieu Garon is expected to get the start here, and he's just 0-3-0 with a 4.07 GAA this month.

Statistical Analysis
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Despite the recent slump, Tampa Bay still comes into this game as one of the highest scoring teams in the league, as the O/U is 9-3-1 thus far. However, it's coming off six straight losses, including identical 4-3 setbacks. Note that the Lightning have seen the total go "over" the number in four of five vs. division opponents, and in all three following three or more consecutive losses.

Florida's O/U is 6-7. However that number increases to 4-2 in front of the home town crowd. It's coming off three straight losses, including a 1-0 OT setback to Montreal on the 14th. There's no question that the Panthers will need to turn up the offensive intensity to break out of this slide.

Texas is winless on the road but it's not for a lack of trying, losing by a basketball their last road game at West Virginia, 60-58, as a +6 dog. They also covered in road losses at Michigan State and Oklahoma. The Longhorns are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600 and comes off a nice win over Iowa State. Kansas is overvalued, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 against the Big 12, and has a big game against No. 17 Oklahoma State on deck. The Longhorns are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. Play Texas!

FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Head Demon Jeff Bzdelik is another 3rd-year coach that’s tasted little success with his new team. But expectations are higher in Winston-Salem where fans of the tradition-rich program (produced Tim Duncan and Chris Paul among others) are used to getting 20-win seasons and an invitation to the Big Dance. That hasn’t happened for Bzdelik, who has seen his team struggle to a 32-55 SU record overall and an unacceptable 9-37 SU effort in the ACC. And even though the school will probably deep-six JB if Wake misses post-season play for a third straight year, the current Deacon squad is in a great spot here to capture a rare conference win. Not only is the series visitor a weak 11-23 ATS, Georgia Tech arrives at LJVM Coliseum in the middle of a Clemson/North Carolina revenge sandwich – and the Jackets are a disturbing 0-9 SUATS before their last nine contests with the Tar Heels. Despite Bzdelik’s lack of SU success, his Deacons are a healthy 7-2-1 ATS at home this year and they’ve gone 12-6 ATS lately as underdogs. The Baptists are also 8-3 SU and 7-2 ATS versus sub .600 opposition this season, plus they’ll be looking to get even with the visitors for an embarrassing 82-62 rout in Atlanta on Jan. 26. The bottom line: there are too many good numbers with an improving host anxious to make amends for that earlier black eye. Deacons reciprocate and make a wreck of Tech. We recommend a 1-unit play on Wake Forest.

FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
On one side in this game you have rookie head coach Tony Bedord (North Texas) and on the other bench it's Tony Maestri, in his 31st season at Troy. Bedford's lost three guards over the season, including starters Chris Jones (10.2 PPG in 13 games) and Brandon Walton (lost after one game / averaged 8.8 last season). Amazingly, the Mean Green still have three double digit scorers in the backcourt, in Jordan (13.7) and Alzee Williams (10.8) plus Franklin (11.5-6.4). The 6-8 Mitchell (13.5-8.3) is a very good inside player but North Texas has lost SIX of seven to fall to 4-12 in Sun Belt play. North Texas limps into Troy 1-10 SU and 3-8 ATS on the road, while all of a sudden, the Trojans have 'caught fire' at home. Troy opened a new facility this year (Trojan Arena) but after winning its first two home games, dropped three in a row. However, the Trojans are 6-1 SU and ATS over their last seven home games and they match up well on the perimeter with North Texas. Jones (11.8-5.7-2.9), Williams (10.1-3.3 APG) and Myers (8.2-2.89 APG) are an excellent trio but up front, Troy will have to do a better job vs Mitchell, who had 29 & 15 when North Texas beat Troy at home 76-59 back on Jan 3. Troy shot just 34.45 (5-of-23 on threes) in that game but here at home, look for them to avenge that loss against a North Texas team which has seen its season slip away.

Admittedly, flighty CSF is prone to producing the sort of stink-o efforts that got it blown out at Long Beach on Wednesday (the Titans hit only 35% from the floor) and on Jan. 17 at home vs. UCI (when Andy Newman’s “D” took the night off in a 92-65 Anteater romp). But when on song, Fullerton can play a catchy tune, with high-scoring Gs Kwane Vaughn & D.J. Seeley and TCU transfer F Sammy Yeager all capable of 25-point + efforts. And Irvine is not likely to hit another 57% from the floor in this rematch of nearly Orange County Big West rivals. Remember that Fullerton had covered its first five league games on the road prior to Wednesday’s loss at The Pyramid vs. the first-place 49ers.

What in heaven's name is going on with Creighton? Not only did the Blue Jays drop out of the AP Top 25 at the start of the week, but they went on to lose a third consecutive game Wednesday, by seven at Northern Iowa. The MVC is now a jumbled mess with the three presumed favorites, Creighton, Wichita State and Indiana State all recently taking steps back. None more so than Creighton, who has also failed to cover seven of its last eight games. The lone ATS win during that stretch, I was on the Blue Jays as they went on the road and smashed Southern Illinois by 30.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
I'll back them yet again here. Evansville let me down Sunday, failing to cover here at home vs. Drake, then went out on the road and lost outright to Southern Illinois during the week. Those are the two worst teams in the Valley, at least when you look at the standings. The Purple Aces have lost six of nine conference games and not even included during that stretch was a 17-point loss to Creighton earlier in the year. Creighton gets back on track here.

FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Sens will be playing their first game without the services of reigning Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson, who was lost to injury for the year on Valentine's day. It added further insult to injury as well, as Ottawa was already playing without Jason Spezza (back), Peter Regin (chest), and Guillaume Latendresse (whiplash). But the Karlsson loss is huge, as he already had a team-high six goals and four assists over 14 games. "We don't replace Erik Karlsson. We don't have anybody in that category of player," Sens GM Bryan Murray said. "We hope that other people eat up his minutes and that we don't allow many goals. (Goaltender) Craig Anderson has to be great. Our defense has to be great and hopefully we find, by committee, a way to score some goals." Also note that Ottawa will be without Milan Michalek tonight who twisted his knee before Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Pens (Ottawa has seen the total dip below the number in four of six road games this year where the total is 5 1/2). The Leafs are also injured, as goaltender James Reimer is expected to miss at least a couple more days with a knee injury. That means that backup Ben Scrivens will get the start tonight. Scrivens most recently is coming off a 3-1 setback to Carolina on Thursday (interestingly, Toronto has seen the total go under the number in two of three this year after scoring 1 goal or less in its previous game). Toronto may find it hard to score against determined Sens goalie Anderson, who before his last start, was 7-2-2 with a 1.36 GAA over his first 11 outings, and who will definitely be called upon here to anchor his banged up team. There is no love loss between these two Canadian clubs, and I'm expecting an all out battle, with the total sneaking below the posted number.

Kentucky is a young team and the embarrassing loss to Florida on Tuesday will definitely take its toll on the Wildcats confidence. They now have to play on the road at the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN against a Volunteers team that is seeking revenge for the loss they were handed in Kentucky.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Volunteers play will in the home underdog spot as they are 22-5 ATS as a home underdog of 6 points or less since 1997. Tennessee is also the hot team coming into this game. They have won two straight on the road against South Carolina and Vanderbilt which should be quite a confidence booster for this Kentucky game on their home court.

With the Wildcats still licking their wounds from the Florida loss they have to be eager to get back on their home court. This is their last road game before a three game stretch at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. I like the Wildcats to have a letdown performance on the road as they struggle to find an identity without Nerlens Noel.

The Oregon Ducks showed me a lot with their win at Washington on Thursday night. This is a team that is maturing very nicely. Oregon is playing some great lock down half court defense, and Washington State's offense is subpar to start with. Washington State has lost three straight at home, and now they are playing an Oregon team with tons of confidence. Take Oregon.

The #2 Duke Blue Devils are 22-2 SU and 9-2 in the Conference while the Maryland Terrapins are 17-7 and sport a 5-6 ACC mark. Duke has taken 6 in a row SU, covering the L5 over Maryland, including an 84-64 thumping about three weeks ago. The Blue Devils were out-rebounded in that game, 42-31, but shot an astounding 52.4% from the field, was 11 for 22 beyond the arc, and only committed 4 turnovers. Team top-scorer, Mason Plumlee (18.2 PPG and 10.7 RPG) will lead a starting 5 that all average DDs. Seth Curry and Quinn Cook have been on-fire. Maryland is 4-6 SU and 2-8 ATS their L10. Center, Alex Len (who will be double-teamed here by the abundance of Duke's big men) was held to just 8 points in the first meeting. The Terps are outclassed. Remember that top-ranked Indiana plays Purdue Saturday then Michigan State on Tuesday. A slip-up in either game can give Duke the top spot. No way does Duke let up on the throttle here. The favorite is 5-0 ATS the L5 meetings in this series. The Blue Devils are 5-1 ATS their L6 games played following an ATS loss while the Terrapins are 1-7-1 ATS their L9 games played vs. teams with a winning record. Take Duke here.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons should be a much bigger home favorite Saturday over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. As a result, I'll gladly side with the value and back the Demon Deacons as my free pick for the day.

These are two very evenly-matched teams as the Yellow Jackets are 3-8 in ACC play while the Demon Deacons are 4-8 in conference action. However, a big advantage goes to Wake Forest because of having home court in this one.

Wake Forest is 9-3 SU & 7-2 ATS at home this season. It has beaten the likes of Xavier, Virginia, Boston College, NC State and Florida State at home this year. Georgia Tech is just 1-5 in true road games this season with its only win coming at lowly Virginia Tech.

Home-court advantage has been huge in this series between Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. The home team has won nine of the last 10 meetings. The home team is 13-3 ATS in the last 16 meetings. The favorite is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Yellow Jackets are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Georgia Tech is 2-7 ATS in its last 9 road games overall. Wake Forest is 12-3-1 ATS in its last 14 home games. The Demon Deacons are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. loss. Bet Wake Forest Saturday.

I like Pittsburgh to revenge its home overtime loss to Marquette in their first meeting of the season on January 12th. Pitt has been one of the best teams in the country since that defeat. The Panthers have gone 7-1 SU & 5-3 ATS in their last eight games overall. Their only loss during this stretch came 61-64 at then-No. 12 Louisville as a 6-point underdog. Pittsburgh’s recent stretch has included some very impressive wins. It started with a 58-43 victory at Villanova on January 16th. It has also beaten then-No. 6 Syracuse 65-55 at home, and then-No. 17 Cincinnati 62-52 on the road since. Jamie Dixon has this team hitting on all cylinders right now.

The Huskers will look to bounce back from a blowout loss at Indiana and are catching Michigan. St at the right time. The Spartans are fresh off a blowout win over in state rival Michigan. They may be flat for this game and are not likely to carry the same motivation for this game. They will be without guard Travis Trice here tonight and Branden Dawson is playing but may not be at 100% for this one. State is 0-2 as a road favorite in this range this season and 4-9 ats after allowing 60 or less points. They are also just 1-3 ats vs teams who score 65 or less points per game. Nebraska has covered 5 of 7 on Saturday and are a solid 7-1 to the spread off a conference loss. Look for Nebraska to at he very least hang around for a spread win in this one.
