When these old enemies met two weeks ago, the Johnnies were absolutely embarrassed at Madison Square Garden, falling behind by 23 points in the first half and suffering the indignity of a 67-51 pasting in front of a silenced New York City crowd. Now it's payback time. Head coach Steve Lavin watched his very young St. John's squad struggle to a 9-7 start but they're putting it together now, currently on a 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS roll following Wednesday night's defeat of DePaul. The visitors also find themselves in a solid winning situation here: in Georgetown's last 13 games against Big East foes seeking same-season revenge, the Hoyas own a lousy 3-9-1 ATS mark, numbers that look even better when we note that St. John's has won and covered three straight in this series when the Red Storm own a winning record and they're looking to get even for an earlier defeat. With G'town currently a mediocre 3-5 ATS at home this season after revenge win of its own over Seton Hall, the points become the play. No phoning it in at the Verizon Center today - the Johnnies, outright. We recommend a 1-unit play on St. John's.

The Hurricanes remain undefeated in the ACC But have their toughest road test so far. Miami took care of business again at Virginia Tech as it won by nine points thanks to a big second half where it was able to pull away. The Hurricanes remain perfect in the ACC at 7-0 including a solid 4-0 in road games. The road win over North Carolina was more than impressive but I feel this is their biggest test on the highway so far. NC State meanwhile is coming off a loss at Virginia on Tuesday as it continued its up and down play. Big wins over Duke and North Carolina were followed up with losses in the next game but so far the Wolfpack have followed up their previous two ACC road losses with a home win next time out. NC State is a perfect 12-0 at home and it could be asked to keep that undefeated streak alive without the services of point guard Lorenzo Brown who hurt his ankle at Virginia and is considered questionable. Brown is averaging a conference-best 6.9 apg and is also second in the ACC with 2.1 spg so his absence will be missed. That being said, there is enough talent on this team to make up for that and you see so many times in sports when players step up when a key teammate goes down. This is one of the few remaining times that the Wolfpack will have an opportunity to grab a quality win to bolster its tournament resume as the back end of the schedule is not overly difficult with only Duke and north Carolina remaining as the toughest ones. The Hurricanes finally suffer that first conference loss on Saturday.

Matchups haven’t worked too well for SCU against BYU since the Cougs entered the WCC last season, with the Provo bunch scoring three similar-looking wins (all by 15 or more) including the Jan. 12 romp at the Leavey Center when shooting 54%. But the Broncos have provided a lot better spread value this season away from Silicon Valley (they’re 6-2 vs. the line last 8 as visitor), and the triples seem to be dropping better for howitzer-like G Kevin Foster away from home (he’s scoring 23.5 ppg his last seven on the road). Also look for more production from SCU's rugged 6'9 Canadian sr. frotnliner Marc Trasolini, off a 23-point effort in Thursday's romp past the Portland Pilots.

This is a very generous line Saturday as the Kansas Jayhawks host the Oklahoma State Cowboys. I fully expect the second-ranked Jayhawks to roll by double-digits at Allen Fieldhouse this afternoon.

Kansas has won 18 straight games since a 67-64 defeat to current No. 13 Michigan State on November 13th in their second game of the season. It is a perfect 11-0 at home this season, outscoring opponents by a whopping 19.7 points/game.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Oklahoma State has not won in Lawrence since an 87-81 victory way back in 1989. Each of Kansas' last four home wins over the Cowboys have come by 11 points or more. The Cowboys are 0-4 in true road games this season, including 0-3 in Big 12 road contests.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Cowboys are 4-18 ATS in road games after playing a home game over the last 3 seasons. Oklahoma State is 1-6 ATS in its last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Jayhawks are 7-1 ATS versus good defensive teams - allowing <=64 points/game this season. Bet Kansas Saturday.

Take Va Tech plus the points. PJ Hairston will not play due to an injury. The Hokies do have Erick Green to keep them close and Jerrel Eddie is a decent player. The Tar Heels should get points from McAdoo, Paige, Bullock, Brice Johnson and Strickland. Look for UNC to win this 12 noon start by 10 to 12 points but look for VT to cover.

This play just missed out on being a 6* premium release for Razor Ray. Road conference games are never easy but the Shockers haven’t lost one yet and already beat the Panthers by 25 this season. They may have stumbled the last time out against Indiana State but I don’t see them putting up two clunkers in a row.

All they have to do is win this one and with so many new faces this year this team is probably actually getting better the deeper into it we go. They have earned that #14 ranking and are looking to make sure the Missouri Valley gets two bids on Selection Sunday. Not much to say about Northern Iowa, they are just a .500 team. Nothing special going on UNI this season though they may still get some name recognition.

I believe that Michigan is the best team in the country and worthy of its No. 1 ranking. That's why I'll back them as an underdog against Indiana Saturday in a game I believe they should be favored in. Michigan's only loss this season came at Ohio State by a mere 3 points. Indiana has already been beaten on its home floor by Wisconsin, while also losing to Butler on a neutral court. Michigan is 8-0 ATS versus teams who average 40 or more rebounds/game on the season over the last 3 seasons. The Wolverines are 29-11-1 ATS in their last 41 vs. Big Ten foes. Michigan is 19-7-1 ATS in its last 27 road games. The Hoosiers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games.

The Ducks should bounce back nice here today as they are 13-2 vs losing teams and 11-3 ats in February games. They love Cali as they have won 12 of the last 15 here. California is 0-3 off a conference win and 3-9 ats vs winning teams. In lined home games they have been big money burners going 1-7 ats. The big difference in this one though is the RPI numbers. Cal is ranked a decent #80. However they are 0-8 vs top 100 teams. Oregon is ranked 26th and is 6-3 vs top 100 teams. Better team is Oregon. The line is reasonable. Ducks over Bears take Oregon.

Washington Wizards at San Antonio Spurs
Pick: San Antonio Spurs

Washington is in the second of a back to back road spot after playing physical Memphis last night, so San Antonio will have fun with this one, running right at the tired visitors, with the Spurs 3rd in the NBA in points scored and tops in assists. The Spurs are 36-14-3 ATS in their last 53 home games and 35-16-3 ATS against a team with a losing record. Play the Spurs!

Sometimes it's more about passing or failing the eye test than anything else. Case in point is today's Big 12 duel between Baylor and Iowa State. The more I see of the Bears, the less I like them. No question Baylor has talent. But they're a low IQ team that just hasn't played with poise against the better opponents on their schedule. Iowa State is not blessed with the athletes of many of their opponents, but they scratch and claw and almost always hang in. I guess what I'm saying is that I like what Fred Hoiberg is doing with the Cyclones, but I'm sure not buying what Scott Drew is selling at Baylor. The Bears are better than the Cyclones man for man, but I see Iowa State as the better team. I'll take my chances with the Cyclones finding a way to get the win and cover today.

It is an uncharacteristic down year for Northern Iowa under 7th year HC Jacobson who has led the Panthers to 4 consecutive 20 win seasons. This year they are just 11-11 SU, 10-10 ATS. A decline in their normally stout defensive numbers is largely to blame. They have already suffered League losses on their home court to Indiana State and Evansville. Now they catch the Shockers at the wrong time. In the opening game of League play, Wichita recorded a 66-41 home court victory against Northern Iowa. The fundamentals haven't changed enough to reverse that defeat for the home team. Expect full focus from the visitor after they absorbed a rare home loss to Indiana State 68-55 on Tuesday night. But under 6th year HC Marshall the Shockers are among the best road teams in the country. Witness their 5-2 SU road mark this season (including a win at VCU) and 19-6 ATS road chalk mark L2+Y.

Oklahoma State is a far improved defensive team over the recent editions of 5th year HC Ford. The Cowboys allow just 58/38/32, force 15.2 TOs and have a +4 rebound margin. That has once again translated o great success at Gallagher-Iba. However, much as in the previous 4 years of Ford's tenure, the Cowboys are struggling on the road at 0-4 SU ATS despite the presence of top performers like Smart and Nash. Those results drop Ford's record to 7-29 ATS as road dog. The Jayhawks defense is at least the equal of the visitor allowing 59/34/31 with a 6.2 rebound margin and positives in TO margin and assist/TO ratio. Their 2-5 ATS record in League play assures that we get a value price in this. It should fall right in the range where 10th year HC Self is 25-8 ATS to -12 at Allen Field House. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Both Teams play good Big East defense, However Pittsburgh is limited on offense, while Syracuse has 1 or 2 Players that can score and will play in the NBA. Syracuse is the better Team, with the better Coach, getting points !

The Kings reputation continues to precede them. The fact is, they're not playing very good hockey - at least not in the early going this season. But they are the defending Stanley Cup champions, and are certainly being priced accordingly. L.A. took five of six meetings from Anaheim last season, so there's no question the Ducks will come in with a bit of a chip on their shoulder tonight. Anaheim is playing its best hockey of the young season, fresh off a 3-1 win over the Wild last night. The Ducks did drop a 3-2 decision in San Jose earlier in the week, but that came by way of a shootout. They deserved a better fate in that contest, as they outshot the still-undefeated Sharks 30-18, but were stonewalled by a red hot Antti Niemi. They'll likely be facing Jonathan Quick tonight, an elite goaltender in his own right, but not one that's at the top of his game right now. Look for a timely third period goal to be the difference for the hometown Ducks once again tonight. Final verdict: Anaheim 3 Los Angeles 2
