FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Old Dominion was 2-20 overall including 0-10 in the CAA and had just fired its longtime head coach Blaine Taylor but went out and upset Drexel on the road on Thursday. Northeastern will make sure the same thing does not happen to them. Apparently, all it takes is firing your coach to get a team motivated. Losers of 10 straight games and posting a 0-10 record in the CAA, Old Dominion fired head coach Blaine Taylor with eight games remaining in the regular season. The athletic director said that it was not based solely on wins and losses, but on a number of factors by which a head coach is evaluated. If anyone saw a clip of his radio show a couple weeks ago, surely that has something to do with it. Anyway, the Monarchs came out and played their best game of the season in a 12-point win at Drexel as 12-point underdogs. The first game after a coach is let go is when players tend to step up and that was certainly evident. Now is where we will see the regression. Drexel is having a rough season so they are partly to blame and Northeastern will make sure the same does not happen to them. The Huskies are in first place in the CAA with a 10-1 conference record following two straight wins after suffering their first CAA loss of the season against Georgia St. most impressive this season is the fact that they have played their best on the road, going 9-2 overall including 7-1 in true road games while going just 6-6 in Boston. Northeastern has a two and a half game lead in the CAA which is a cushion but it cannot let this one get away and it should be motivated based on the fact Old Dominion is coming off that big win. The Monarchs are just 1-11 ATS in their last 12 conference games while Northeastern is 11-0 ATS in its last 11 games following an ATS loss.

The Penguins are playing their best hockey of the young season right now, winners of five in a row, outscoring the opposition by a whopping 15 goals over that stretch. The Devils have been sharp lately as well, and while I do expect them to turn in a better showing than we saw in their trip to Pittsburgh one week ago, I don't believe it will be enough for a win. Pittsburgh has been at its absolute best on the road this season, posting a stellar 6-1 record. The Devils have yet to suffer a regulation time loss at home. Obviously something has to give in this spot, and I simply feel that a timely third period goal from the Penguins will prove to be the difference. Note that the Pens were 5-2 winners in their last stop in New Jersey, outshooting the Devils 44-14 in that contest. I expect this one to be played much closer to the vest, but the value remains with the visitors. Marc-Andre Fleury has really come around over his last couple of starts, and should shine in Saturday's game as well.

Philadelphia is finally getting it together, on a 3-1 SU/ATS run and the 76ers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games. Into town come the Bobcats, a team going nowhere, 23rd in the NBA in points scored, 30th in points allowed and 24th in rebounds. It's the second of a back to back spot and the Bobcats are 8-21 ATS in their last 29 games playing on no days rest. And the 76ers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a losing record. Play the 76ers.

Play on the Montreal Canadians as the team will be looking to get back in the win column against its fiercest rival in Toronto.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Habs are coming off two straight one goal defeats to Boston and Buffalo. Montreal gave up a lead in the third period to the Sabres and should be playing some desperate hockey here at home.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Montreal is 5-2 SU at home this year and will be looking to avenge a loss to the Leafs in the season and home opener.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Carey Price will be back in net after giving way to Peter Budaj for a night of rest. It is highly unlikely the team would have given up that lead to Sabres with Price in net. Price is sporting a 1.74 GAA with a .936 save percentage while going 6-2 on the year. I think we see Price give us another good performance here on Hockey Night in Canada where he has been superb ever since coming into the league.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Granted the Leafs have played some good hockey of late on the road where the team has just about all its victories this year. I think they are playing with fire though as it is really hard to win on the road on consistent basis in the NHL.

FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
On paper, this looks dangerous - the Broncos currently lead the MAC West while Ball State is wrestling with Central Michigan for possession of the West cellar - but our old reliable database is eco-friendly and dispels that thought. Why? Because WMU arrives in Muncie off a LTKO (League Tournament Knock Out) revenger against Kent State. With that we note the Broncos are just 1-7 ATS as favorites after fighting the Flashes and have a big-time revenger against Bowling Green on deck (WMU lost by 24 points at home as 4-point chalk last season). Meanwhile, the Gonads suffered a kick in the nuts when they were kneed out of last year's MAC tourney by these Broncos, abruptly ending their campaign at 15-15. Not only are the hosts a solid 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS on this court when playing with LTKO revenge, they've also held their own in this series at Worthen Arena, going 13-6 SU and 11-7-1 ATS, including 4-0 SUATS the last four. With the testicular ones averaging almost 9 PPG more at home than on the road, we'll side with BSU to get some payback today. Fear the scrotum! We recommend a 1-unit play on Ball State.

The oddsmakers are getting a little to stingy with Michigan laying only two points against this Wisconsin team. Michigan is 12-2 ATS versus teams who average 6 or less steals per game on the season over the last 3 seasons. Wisconsin is 2-9 ATS versus good defensive teams that are allowing less than 64 points per game this season. This Michigan offense is too good for this Badgers team and I believe Wisconsin has already pulled off all the surprise upsets and close games they are capable of this season. Home or away this Michigan team can beat Wisconsin by 10 or more points any day of the week.

In games after allowing 60 or less they are 7-1. George Washington is 3-7 vs winning teams and 1-4 straight up and ats as a home dog of 3 or less. They have also been terrible vs teams who allow 65 or less going 4-19. Look for Butler to get the win and cover.

The simulator shows a high probability that TT will lose this game by fewer than 15 points. Baylor is just 4-14 ATS (-11.4 Units) in home games after playing a road game over the last 3 seasons; 1-8 ATS (-7.8 Units) in home games after a game where they covered the spread over the last 2 seasons. Baylor is reeling from a three-game losing streak and only covered the last one losing by two points at Oklahoma State where they were installed as seven point dogs. Many would argue that this close loss is an emotional boost for them. I differ greatly as this is a clear sign that they are just not quite as good as they once thought they were. A close emotional loss can be a serious hangover for any team, especially when they are facing a known inferior opponent. Baylor is more likely to show up flat believing the game is won before the tip and good get into a serious dog fight in the second half. Take Texas Tech.

Big West onlookers have noted since November that UCSB HC Bob Williams is working with short rations on the attack end, as his offense lacks the perimeter scoring pop that graduated Orlando Johnson and James Nunnally were able to consistently provide the past few years. This season, the Gauchos are grinding in halfcourt sets, with opposing defenses better able to scheme new UCSB main threat F Alan Williams out of the offensive flow. Better-balanced UOP had little trouble with the Gauchos in the Tigers’ 80-62 win at the Spanos Center back on Jan. 10, hitting 13 triples. Which is no surprise, since Bob Thomason's troops are the best-shooting in the Big West (47% from floor; Fs Travis Fulton & Khalil Kelly both 53% FGs), Before bolting to the WCC next season, the Tigers still have a little more payback on their minds vs. UCSB after losing all three matchups a year ago.

I know Philadelphia didn't look good against Indiana in their first game without Thaddeus Young, but they are still good enough to win by double digits at home against Charlotte. The Bobcats are just 5-19 on the road this year and losing by 11.8 ppg. They shoot just 42% while giving up 47.5%, including 39.3% from behind the 3-point line. This team has lost six games in a row, only covering twice when they were getting 13+ points.

Philadelphia has been playing great defense lately, holding their last four opponents to 40% or less shooting. At home the Sixers are 15-12 and holding opponents a full percentage point under their normal shooting rate. Even with Philadelphia's injury concerns this should be a blowout.

Somehow, some way the Butler Bulldogs (19-4) have managed to go under the radar once again this season. They have proven to be one of the most underrated teams in the country. That is evident by their 14-7 (67%) ATS record on the season.

Once again, I believe the Bulldogs are undervalued Saturday as only a 3.5-point favorite at George Washington (11-10). These teams are simply in two different classes, and I look for the Bulldogs to roll to another road victory in this one.

Saint Marys Ca at San Diego
Pick: San Diego

Saint Mary's is clearly superior to San Diego, and the Gaels completely dominated the earlier meeting, winning by a lopsided 81-48 count. Look for the rematch to be a whole lot closer. The Toreros are playing much better basketball of late and have clawed their way to the right side of .500. I don't know if they're good enough to steal the outright upset here, but the position couldn't be much better. Saint Mary's is off a brilliant effort on the road Thursday at Santa Clara in what was supposed to be a tough game, and on deck for the Gaels is the big showdown with Gonzaga. I've got great respect for Randy Bennett, and I'm sure he will have his team prepped for this duel, but it's nevertheless a monster sandwich spot. I expect this one to be competitive all the way, and I'll be happy to grab the doubles with San Diego.
