How in the world is it even possible that the Bucks have lost 24 straight times to the Suns in Phoenix? They are just 2-10 ATS vs. Western Conference teams this season, but one of those winning tickets was cashed last Tuesday at home vs. tonight's opponent, 108-99 win as six-point chalk. I was on Milwaukee in that game....
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Phoenix is just awful right now. They have dropped 12 of their last 14 including a double-digit loss here at home to Oklahoma City Monday night. Interesting to note here is that the Suns are just 9-26 ATS when seeking revenge for a road loss. Over the last seven games, they are averaging just 84.6 points per game on 42% shooting.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Turnovers were key for the Suns in the first meeting as they coughed the ball up 16 times, which is right on par with their average over the last seven games. Milwaukee ranks among the league leaders, forcing 16 TO's per game. The Bucks have been playing harder for interim head coach Jim Boylan, whose first game on the bench came vs. Phoenix. Though they lost to the Lakers Tuesday night, I expect a bounce back here and the club's 1st win in Phoenix since 1987.

It hasn't been primetime ratings for 'The Lake Show' thus far but that could all change with a win against the David Letterman's of the NBA world. We know the Lakers are banged-up and haven't done much against the Western Conference elite this year but it should come as no surprise to learn they are 12-2 SUATS at home against non-rested Eastern Conference opposition. Our database also finds Nicholson's bunch 10-2 SU and ATS (5-0 SUATS last five) at home in Thursday TNT prime-time affairs versus non-rested opposition. It looks like another Hollywood ending in the Staples Center as the James Gang gets gunned down out west. We recommend a 1-unit play on the Lakers.

Still on an AMAZING 10-1 run with complimentary hoops picks in 2013, I had to settle for a push with my last free play on Brooklyn. Many of you would have cashed in a winner, as the line had dropped to 6.5 at most books by Tuesday morning. Tonight's play is on the Oregon State Beavers, getting a whole bunch of points on the road at UCLA.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Beavers have lost three straight at home, to Oregon, Arizona and Arizona State. Despite facing tough opponents, they were competitive in each of those games. Tonight's game will be the third time this season they face a team ranked in the top 25, not counting their meeting with Oregon, as the Ducks weren't ranked at the time. They lost the last two to Kansas and Arizona, but both of those were close games.

Arizona defeated the Beavers in Oregon by a score of 80-70, failing to cover an 11 point spread, and the Jayhawks narrowly escaped with an 84-78 victory in Kansas. The Bruins are asked to cover a much bigger number against a solid Beavers team in California tonight.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
While the Bruins have gotten the better of Oregon State in previous meetings, winning 9-of-10, and covering the points in eight of those games, it was Oregon State that won the last meeting between these two teams. The Beavers won by a score of 87-84 at home over UCLA last January.

I believe the Beavers aren't getting enough respect here tonight, getting an awful lot of points for a team that has played so many close games against better teams than UCLA.

Take Oregon State as the underdog.

Milwaukee is 19-18 SU/ATS; it's coming off a 104-88 loss at LA as a 6 point underdog on the 15th. Brandon Jennings had 12 points. To say Milwaukee has struggled whenever its played in Phoenix would be a massive understatement, as it's winless there in over 25 years.

Phoenix is 13-27 SU and 16-22-2 ATS; it's coming off a 102-90 loss to OKC as a 5 point dog on the 14th.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
There is no doubt that the Suns will be playing with a sense of desperation tonight, as they've lost five of six in front of the home town crowd and will be looking to avoid dropping four straight in Phoenix for the first time since 2004.

Shannon Brown had 21 points vs. the Thunder; Marcin Gortat had 19 points and 15 boards.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
A big boost for the home side will be the return of Jared Dudley who has sat the last two games with an injured wrist.

Ultimately though, this sets up as a "revenge" game for the home side, which lost 108-99 in Milwaukee on January 8th.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
I believe there are enough significant external motivating factors working in favor of the home side to warrant it a second look in this matchup!

I have the side of this game on the premium side, so I don't want to give away too much of my analysis on the UNDER and give away my thoughts on who is going to win, but a couple of systems back my play here that say to take the UNDER when the total is over 200 and the road team is outscoring opponents by 3+ ppg, and the home team is off a double digit win. The UNDER is 44-18 in this spot over the last fie years. Plus, Miami went UNDER by a ton last night against Golden State and teams rebound in non-conference games going 54-19 for the UNDER if they went UNDER by 24+ points in their last game.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Lakers have held the last two opponents to UNDER 94 points while the Heat just held the Warriors to 75. Both teams are playing well defensively so points will be at a premium here tonight.

Illinois has cooled off lately. The Illini beat a good Ohio State team at home but need to make 3's to be effective. They are not very good inside. The Northwestern Wildcats look like they will miss the NCAA Tournament again in 2013 as they are without John Shurna from last year and have had to deal with injuries. I do think they can make enough shots to stay within 10 points and cover.

Massachusetts is one of my least favorite teams in college basketball. The Minutemen have some legit talent, but they can only play at one speed, make too many bad decisions and frequently act as if playing defense is against the law. I'm not sold at all on Derek Kellogg as a head coach, and I think it's fair to say that UMass is a fraud despite an okay 11-4 record. If that all sounds like a team I want to play against, it usually is, particularly if they're favored. But this is a matchup that should allow UMass to succeed simply on the basis of being far more athletic. Plus, it's an unusual occasion in that the Minutemen are playing a team that's even worse defensively. Duquesne tries hard but the material just isn't on hand right now, and there's nothing to suggest they won't play at the pace UMass likes. It's a rare spot where Massachusetts might actually score a blowout win, so I'll take my chances giving the points.

Milwaukee Bucks at Phoenix Suns
Pick: Phoenix Suns

The long road trip for Milwaukee continues out West and the Bucks are 19-39-1 ATS in their last 59 vs. the Western Conference. While Milwaukee is playing its third straight road game, Phoenix is well rested having 2 full days off in the middle of a stretch playing a remarkable 1 game over 9 days! They are off a loss at home to Oklahoma City which followed a 4-game road trip back east. The Suns are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and the Bucks are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings. Play the Suns.

Tough week for Santa Clara, which dropped games at LMU and home vs. BYU just when the Broncos seemed poised for a takeoff. But Kerry Keating’s crew had covered four in a row away from the Leavey Center prior to last Thursday’s loss at Westchester. And USF’s season has gone pear-shaped since early December, with losses in 9 of last 11 SU. WCC sources believe Santa Clara better balances the court on the attack end with the post presence of rugged 6-9 Canadian sr. Marc Trasolini (15.1 ppg), a dimension the perimeter-oriented Dons are still lacking.Chance for Broncos to avenge a pair of losses vs. longtime Bay Area Jesuit ricval tonight.

You think Western Illinois has had tonight's game against South Dakota State circled? Last year, the Jackrabbits not only beat the Leathernecks three times but one of those games was by single point and the other was in overtime in the Summit League Championship game. WIU is an experienced team with a decent home court. You go back to last year and three of their conference losses in Macomb were by 1 (vs. SDSU), 1 (double OT) and 4 (double OT). This season, they are a perfect 8-0 at rinky-dink Western Hall and tonight marks arguably the biggest game the program has had under Jim Molinari. South Dakota State is a good team as seen by road wins at Montana and New Mexico. But there were also some bad losses, most notably at Hofstra and at South Dakota. Defensively is where these two teams differ. SDSU has had difficulty at times whereas WIU puts much more emphasis on stopping the opposition. And the blueprint is out there for how to beat SDSU – slow down the pace of the game. Of the Jackrabbits' five slowest games, they lost three of them and won the other two by a single point each. In last year's title game, WIU held SDSU star Nate Wolters to 5-22 shooting. The difference was WIU shot 2-6 from the free throw line while SDSU was 7-9. Look for the home side to come away with a revenge-minded win tonight.

Wunderdog

North Dakota State at IUPUI
Pick: North Dakota State -13

The North Dakota State Bison are off to a 15-3 start on the season, and share the Summit Conference lead at 6-0 with Western Illinois. The Bison are a legitimate NCAA contending mid-major or in this case, lower-tier conference. Two of their three losses have come from the to Big-10 powers Minnesota, and Indiana. They have the savvy to play on the road as their last three road games all resulted in wins by an average of more than 20 points per contest. IUPUI has had a tough season with just four of their six wins coming against Div-1 opponents. They enter this game a very uncompetitive 4-12 ATS on the season, and 9 of their last 10 losses have come by double-digits. The Bison have been cruising to wins and covers vs. below .400 teams at 13-3 ATS in their last 16. Make the play on North Dakota St.

The simulator shows a high probability that GT will lose this game by 15 or fewer points. Supporting this graded play is a proven system posting a 46-16 ATS for 74% winners since 2006. Play against home favorites of 10 or more points that are excellent shooting team (>=47.5%) and facing a struggling shooting team making between 40 and 42.5% and in a game involving two good ball handling team committing <=14.5 turnovers per game after 15+ games. GT plays strong team defense and this will create some problems for Duke tonight. In fact, Duke is just 2-10 ATS (-9.0 Units) versus good defensive teams allowing <=42% opponent shooting after 15+ games over the last 2 seasons. Duke is just 0-6 ATS (-6.6 Units) in home games after playing a game as a road favorite over the last 2 seasons. Take Georgia Tech.

This is a battle of two bad teams who play absolutely no defense. Northern Colorado shoots the ball much better on their home floor, and I expect a lot of made three-point shots from them here. Portland State has a very good shooting team, and they have scored 87 and 79 points in their last two games. I projected this game at 145 points. The over is 14-6 in Northern Colorado's last 20 home games.
