The students are out of school at Michigan and it could take away from the atmosphere. Binghamton has lost to some bad teams like Bryant but they do have two guards who can score and try to slow down the pace. Michigan is led by Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. I think Michigan wins by 30-35 but fails to cover the large number.

The Los Angeles Clippers have won six in a row as they continue to get a boost from one of the best benches in the NBA. That's bad news for the Bulls, who were dominated in their first meeting in November by 21. Los Angeles has outscored opponents by an average of 16.8 points in its second six-game win streak of the season. The Clippers, who last took seven straight during a team-record eight-game run in 1991-92, cruised past Toronto 102-83 on Sunday. The Clippers, who rested starters Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Willie Green for the entire fourth quarter and Caron Butler for all but 1:36, continue to rely heavily on their reserves. Los Angeles is getting 41.8 points off the bench to rank near the top of the league and is 11-0 when its reserves score at least 41. The Bulls not only have point guard Derrick Rose out with a knee injury, but also starting shooting guard Richard Hamilton out with a foot injury. Expect Chris Paul to take advantage and dominate the much slower Bulls backcourt.

Michigan/ Binghamton Over 132: Binghamton comes in as one of the worst offensive teams in the nation putting up just 60.5 ppg on the year, and Michigan allows just 58.7 ppg on the year, so I feel the Bearcats can squeeze at least 55 points out of this one, especially if Jordan reed gets going (18.2 ppg, 45% shooting). Defensively the Bearcats are not great and this will be by far the best offensive team they will have faced this year so far. Michigan comes in averaging 79.1 ppg (24th) on 51.5% shooting (5th) overall and 42.1% for long range (8th), and those numbers have been put up vs much tougher opponents then they will face in this one. Even if the Bearcats are held to the mid 40's in this one I just don't see how Michigan doesn't hit at least 90. 88-51 sounds about right. KEY TREND--- The Over is 12-4-1 in Michigan's last 17 non-conference games.

West Virginia/ Duquesne Under 138: I know that Duquesne is an uptempo team but West Virginia is not and they know how to slow a game down and with the way their offense has played this year they will have to slow the game down. West Virginia has been very inconsistent on offense this year as they have averaged 71.1 ppg, but have scored more than 70 just once in their last 5 games and they have shot just 39.8% (294th) on the year. Defensively the Mountaineers have been pretty solid, allowing 66.1 ppg on 41.3% shooting (149th) and they should be able to contain a Dukes offense that has also been inconsistent this year. The Dukes offense, like West Virginia's, averages just over 70 ppg, but they are also a weak shooting team hitting just 41.2% of their shots (252nd). Neither team is good at all from long range and Duquesne is very poor from the FT line (65.6%), while the 'Neers are average (69.2%), so not allot of extra points from those two areas on the floor. This should not be an up and down game, but even if it's played that way both teams are poor enough shooting teams to keep this one from going over the total.

Knicks/ Nets Over 193.5: The Nets have had a good start to their year, but lately their defense has really let them down as they have allowed 106.3 ppg in their last 4 games. The Nets also allow 46.4% shooting overall (26th) and 47.7% shooting at home. Not good when your about to face a Knicks squad that has averaged a solid 102.8 ppg on the year, Including 101 ppg on the road. The Knicks have also been deadly from long range this year, ranking 3rd in that department, hitting 40.5% of their 3-balls. The Knicks average making 11.7 threes a game on the road, while Nets give up 6 threes a game at home. Offensively the Nets have been good this year, averaging 96.1 ppg overall and 98.4 ppg at home. While not a great 3 ;point shooting team they do average 8 threes made per game at home. and the Knicks give up 7.9 threes on the road. We should get plenty of points from distance in this one. The Knicks are 2nd in defensive FG% (45.1%) and they allow 97.8 ppg on the road, so look for the Nets to score some on them. I look for this one to finish at 198 or above.

LA Lakers -6 over CLEVELAND: The Lakers have not been playing all that good this year, but make no mistake this team has talent on and it will be a force in the 2nd half of the year. Tonight I expect them to have a big game vs a weak opponent. A Big problem for the Lakers this year has been their defense, but that shouldn't be a problem tonight vs a Cleveland team that averages just 93 ppg at home and they coming in putting up just 86.8 ppg (Regulation Only) in their last 8 games. No way this team will put up enough points vs a Lakers team that averages 102.2 ppg on the road to keep this one close. Cleveland has been outscored by 9.2 ppg in their last 5 games and I expect a Lakers win by no less than that here.

Brooklyn +4

The Knicks are in a bad scheduling scenario here, playing 5 games in 7 nights. Yet they will be highly motivated to gain revenge for the November 26th defeat on this court, 96-89. Key factor in this game will be the availability of interior force Lopez for Brooklyn. Since he was forced out of the lineup by injury, the Nets have gone 0-4 SUATS. In so doing, they have allowed 104 PPG on the defensive end, a testament to the importance of Lopez. His availability, which may evolve into a game time decision, is the most important handicapping factor in this contest.

SPORTS WAGERS

DETROIT +5 over Denver

Denver on the road for the fourth of five straight away. This is a Nuggets team that has not looked particularly sharp recently and combined with a 5-10 road record, we feel they are being mispriced here. Denver could be in a letdown spot, having played and lost to Knicks on Sunday and they are off to Minnesota tomorrow night to complete this road swing. Danilo Gallinari’s shooting has been erratic all season long and after a decent 21 points against New York, in wouldn’t be surprise to see him a clunker here.

The Pistons are back home after two away, including last night’s loss in at the Sixers. Detroit currently .500 at home and should be ready to avenge a Nov. 26 loss at the Pepsi Center. With the stronger defence and catching the sliding Nuggies at the right time, a win here would not surprise at all.

CHICAGO +2½ over LA Clippers

We realize that the Clippers are hot, having won six straight but the Bulls are on a run of their own with three consecutive victories. While the Clippers are certainly a solid bunch, they are 0-4 ATS in past four road contests against teams above .500.The Clips have had strong bench play late in games recently but against this tough Chicago defense, it won’t be so easy. Chicago’s Marco Belinelli is making the most of his opportunity to play with Rip Hamilton out of the lineup and his play seems to have energized the team, particularly Luol Deng.

The Bulls have won five of six, largely in part to their strong defensive play. Chicago has held opponents to an average of 86.7 points per game over that span. That includes a 93-85 win over the Knicks which had New York shooting a season-low 32.1 percent while being outrebounded. This one lines up nicely for the home side, taking any points offered.

New York Knicks -3

The Knicks will be out for revenge after losing at Brooklyn 89-96 in overtime back on Nov, and I believe they will do so in convincing fashion. The Nets will once again be playing without starting center Brook Lopez and his loss has really hurt this team. Brooklyn is just 1-4 without him in the lineup. Lopez was a big reason why the Nets were able to defeat New York in that first meeting. He posted a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds (7 offensive boards), while also blocking 5 shots!

Under head coach Mike Woodson the Knicks are an impressive 15-4 ATS in road games when coming off a home win where they scored at least 110 points. They are also 19-8 ATS in all games he has coached where the Knicks are listed as the favorite.

After nailing the Golden State Warriors last night, my free pick run is now at 51-29-2. Tonight I am in the college ranks and something has me leaning toward Cal Poly in its visit to Reno's Lawlor Events Center to take on the UNR Wolfpack.

The Mustangs have looked good at times, and looked Cal Poly-esque at others. They've split their first three games, including a huge upset at UCLA on Nov. 25, a stunning 70-68 win. They come in after denouncing Menlo College, 89-43, this past weekend.

I know UNR is 4-1 in their own building, and it'll be fired up after finally scoring its first road win of the season this past Saturday, after getting past Washington, 76-73. But I'm worried about the playing-to-the-level-of-competition theory in this game.

Cal Poly stepping up to play to the level of UNR's caliber, and the Wolfpack taking the 'Stangs lightly, and playing down to Cal Poly's level.

There's no doubt in my mind Nevada will pull away for the win, but only after Cal Poly puts a scare into the Pack, and keeps things close to the waning moments. Free throws will help UNR win this one, but the Mustangs will make it interesting enough in that the point spread will stay in doubt. Take the road pup.

142-113 comp play run heading into tonight's selection on the Clippers (-2') at Chicago as they seem to be getting the best value on the entire NBA card. In a battle of teams on win streaks, I am much more impressed by the Clippers, who have won six in a row, than I am the Bulls, who have now won a season-best three straight.

During this run, the Clippers are blasting foes by an average of 16.8 points per game, and this isn't the first time this team has bolted out to win six straight this season.

The best team out of Los Angeles right now is benefiting from 41.8 bench points to rank near the top of the NBA. And when those reserves score a minimum of 41 points, the Clippers are a perfect 11-0.

And in case you're worried about how the Clippers will perform in the Windy City, make note they've won nine of their last 11 trips inside the United Center, including a November 17 visit, during which the bench outscored the Bulls' reserves 53-25 en route to a 101-80 shellacking of their hosts. The Clippers are also on a 5-1 ATS run in Chi-town, while they've covered nine of their last 11 after a straight-up win..

Tuesday's freebie is the Washington Wizards as the road dog at New Orleans.

Backing the 2-15 Wizards who have lost all eight of their road games this season, but I am backing them plus the points and not necessarily to win this game outright.

With the points the Wizards have been are at least a .500 play for the year, as they stand at 8-8-1 against the spread, and are above .500 with the points on the road at 4-3-1.

New Orleans has not exactly been "money" on their home hardwood, as the Hornets are just 5-6 against the spread at home, With losses in three in a row, and 12 of their last 14 overall, the Hornets are no shoe-in to win this game, let alone cover this game.

Both teams are dealing with injuries, but perhaps the fact both Gordon and Davis are out for the host will keep them from pulling away from the Wizards tonight.

Washington has managed to cover each of their last five visits to the Big Easy, so why not ride them to make it 6-0 with the cover tonight?

Take the points and the Wizards.

Going to play Duquesne as my freebie tonight, against West Virginia, as the Dukes are more than 7-1/2 point underdog - they just might win this game outright at Consol Energy Center.

After being completely undressed last Wednesday in front of their home faithful, in a 21-point loss to crosstown rival Pitt - the Dukes are going to be out for revenge. Well, TO avenge that loss, and West Virginia is the victim.

This will be the third time Duquesne gets a shot to knock off a noteworthy opponent, after playing at Georgetown on Nov. 11. The Dukes looked much better against the Hoyas, eventually losing respectably, 61-56.

And I think Duquesne is catching the Mountaineers at the right time. West Virginia just won a one-point thriller against Virginia Tech, and in four days they're playing No. 3 Michigan. Is this is a sandwich trap for West Virginia that it won't be ready to eat.

My money is on the Dukes devouring the dog-point spread and rolling to an easy cover an potential outright win.

Free play winner last night on Golden State. Tonight's free play is the Los Angeles Clippers on the road over the Chicago Bulls.

Both teams playing solid ball right now, as the Clippers have won their last six, while the Bulls have won their last three. The problem for the Bulls is the fact they are still without Rose and Hamilton, and Hinrich now has an injured elbow. Too many men down against a Los Angeles team that has already routed Chicago in the season's first meeting at the Staples Center, as the Clips came out on top by 21 points in that mid-November meeting.

Los Angeles has covered in their last three wins, and four of their last five overall, and the Clippers are also on a 4-2 roll both straight up and against the spread the last six series meetings against the Bulls.

Have to lay the small road impost with LA, as the Clippers snap the Bulls three game winning streak and extend their own win streak to seven in a row.
