FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
A critical game for both teams. The Cats are in heated battle with Creighton for the top spot in the Big East while the Friars find themselves in a free-for-all for 3rd place in the conference. For Providence, revenge from a 91-61 loss at Villanova in early January is first and foremost on the Friars’ minds tonight, and they’re tougher than a day-old jelly stick in the Dunkin’ Donuts Center, going 17-2 SU on this floor dating back to last season. In addition, Providence stands 4-0 SUATS at home as either a dog or a favorite of 3 or more points this season. Ed Cooley does not have a deep team – he has started the same five players in every game this season, and rarely goes more than seven deep – but senior guard Bryce Cotton handles most of the scoring, averaging a stellar 21.2 PPG. Nova coach Jay Wright picked up his 400th career win against Seton Hall last Friday night and his team has been very consistent in Big East play, outside of a pair of 20-plus point defeats at the hands of Creighton. One last stat: Providence enters this contest with an 11-3 ATS mark as a home dog of more than 3 points, including 6-0 ATS when playing off a win. The aforementioned same starting five spells U-P-S-E-T tonight. We recommend a 1-unit play on Providence.

This line may drop by morning as I was able to get minus 4 1/2 here in Vegas last night. In the first meeting in Austin the Cyclones turned it over 18 times to just 8 for Texas. That should change tonight in Ames, IA and I look for Iowa State to have one of their best games of the season. Everything has rolled out for Texas the last five weeks but I have a feeling tonight that DeAndre Kane and Melvin Ejim will excel big time. I like the payback for Iowa State from the loss in Austin. In an earlier game with Texas, Georges Niang was not shooting it the way he has been lately and Kane was just 3-12 from the floor. The crowd in Ames will be deafening tonight. This is a huge game for ISU....if they win they will get a good seed and have renewed confidence going in to March Post Season.

Despite dropping their last two road games at Wichita State ( 78-67 ) & at Indiana State ( 60-57 ) they covered both of those games and have covered five of their last six. They led the Wichita State game at the half and were trying to sweep Indiana State as they won ( 79-60 ) in their first meeting last month. This team is playing well and I expect Head Coach Barry Hinson to have the Dogs ready. Geno Ford's Braves are playing better of late but this is a payback game from the 66-60 loss in Peoria vs. the Braves in January. Desmar Jackson should lead the scoring again for the Salukis with Anthony Beane Jr. giving the Dogs a solid 1-2 combo!! I like SIU by 10-12 points in this one.

Virginia vs. Virginia Tech
Play: Virginia -11.5

Enjoy this free winner tonight and look at my premium plays documented 6 wins in last 7 games. This ride will continue tonight with a no contest at Virginia Tech, where they are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 home games. Virginia, on the other hand is 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall. I've been making money on them all year.

Charlotte travels to the Motor City for a rematch against the Pistons knowing their last trip here was a decisive victory with Charlotte winning 116 to 106 back on December 20, 2013. This series has been an Over series especially in Detroit. Charlotte is 15-11 Over on the road this season while Detroit is 35-16 Over this season including a record of 19-8 Over at home. Games played in Detroit have seen thirteen of seventeen games sail Over the posted total and five of five Over the last three years. The series is 7-2 Over the last three years no matter where these two play. Detroit is 16-5 Over revenging a loss in which their opponent scored 100 or more points. The Pistons are 13-2 Over coming off a home loss their last time out. We look for history to repeat itself on Tuesday night in Detroit.

River City Sharps

Louisville -22

We got to see the Cards Sunday up and close and personal at the Yum Center as they absolutely dismantled a bad Rutgers team, 102-54. The big knock on the Cardinals is that they really don't have many quality wins, and that is probably true. Here's another fact...when they play inferior teams, they absolutely pound them! They are number one in the nation in adjusted scoring margin (by a large margin) and the first time these two teams played at USF, the Cardinals put a 39-point beatdown on the Bulls. We had a really nice 4 Unit Diamond winner with UConn over USF last week and while we aren't going to shine up a Diamond tonight, we think this is a solid 3 unit play. The Bulls are really a mess right now, losers of 4 of their last 5 games. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are really getting on a roll, winning 8 of their last 9 games. We could give you lots of stats and reasons why Louisville wins and covers, but as most of you know, we are based in Louisville and see this team play a lot of games. They pass the "eye test" for us and we really like the vibe coming from this team right now. They are loose, Pitino and the coaching staff are having fun and they have a lot of good energy. Don't be afriad laying the big number.

The Mountain West is a two-team race, and those leaders will do battle this weekend as San Diego State heads to Albuquerque for the showdown with New Mexico. But before that happens, the Aztecs have to get rid of Utah State tonight.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
That might not be as easy as SDSU would prefer. The first meeting between these two was a tremendous battle that went to overtime before the Aztecs finally prevailed. Obviously, the locale tonight is much different. But I’m not convinced the result will change dramatically.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
First off, I like teams as road dogs seeking to avenge an OT home loss. Utah State is also very adept at knocking down threes. They’re at 42% for the season, and dogs who can hit those bombs are usually pretty live.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
As for the Aztecs, they’re the cream of the MWC crop, but they’re really not a big margin team. SDSU has only really had one slaughter so far and that was against MWC punching bag San Jose State. The other ten wins for the Aztecs have been by an average of 7.8. They’re 6-0 at home in league play by an average of nine points per game.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
There’s no way of knowing if the potential look ahead to New Mexico on Saturday comes into play here, but I don’t see where it can hurt in terms of taking a shot against the Aztecs. I also like the fact that Utah State is a veteran team with a very good coach, so there should not be a carryover from the weekend disappointment against UNLV. I see the Aggies competing tonight, so it’s Utah State plus the points for me.

Both clubs have been playing mediocre basketball the last couple of weeks. Boise is the better shooting club, and shouldn't be phased by the altitude in Fort Collins. I like the Broncos at a pick'em price

FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
The Wizards lost four of five before the break but in reality they could be on a five-game winning streak because three of those four losses were decided by three points or less and the other loss occurred in OT. That set of losses occurred against Houston, Memphis, San Antonio and a suddenly warm Cavaliers squad. However, the Wizards are still two games below .500 and they have trouble with the Raptors. In two games against the Raps this season, Washington is 0-2, having lost by 13 and eight points respectively. Interestingly enough, the Wizards hosted the Raps the first game back after last year’s All-Star break and lost 96-88. That Raptor team was far worse than this one.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
The Raps are playoff bound and of all the teams in the Association, the Raps may be the most anxious to get back on the floor. The Raptors have the third-best record in the East but four teams are within 3½ games. With six of its next eight games at home, Toronto has a chance to solidify its position behind Indiana and Miami. Toronto won two in a row before the break and six of its past nine. The Raps have an edge in every area over the Wizards which include rebounding, points per game, defense, turnovers and a stronger bench. Psychologically, the Raps have an edge in that department too, as they keep defeating this team. No reason they can’t do so again here.

It’s not customary for us to spot road points with a team that is 22 games under .500 but the Magic are so much better than their record indicates and that makes them an undervalued squad. Victor Oladipo is mounting a push for Rookie of the Year. The 21-year-old guard averaged 19 points on 60 percent shooting in consecutive victories over the Pistons, Thunder and Pacers just before the break, as the Magic matched their season-high winning streak of three before losing to Memphis by just five points. The Magic have a host of veterans (Arron Afflalo, Jameer Nelson and Glen Davis) about whom playoff-minded teams will be calling at the deadline and if these guys want out of Orlando with a chance to play for a contender, they’ll be auditioning now. With a great core of youth along with the aforementioned vets, the Magic are very playable spotting a bucket against this putrid host.

The Bucks beat the Knicks couple of weeks ago for their second victory of 2014. Also worth pointing out: It's February. After that win, Milwaukee went on to lose four in a row before the break, which includes a 16-point home loss to Boston. The Bucks hold a five-game lead for the worst record and will be without Larry Sanders for at least six weeks. But, hey, have you seen Giannis Antetokounmpo's hands? The Bucks are always fade material when the spot is six points or less and this one is no exception.

The Spurs won five of seven before the break but the victories occurred against Boston, Charlotte, Washington, New Orleans and Sacramento. The Spurs two losses occurred against Detroit and at Brooklyn by 14 points. The Spurs started Tiago Splitter, Danny Green, Marco Belinelli, Corey Joseph and Nando De Colo in the game versus the Nets and come into this one with several key injuries still hanging over them. The Spurs played six consecutive road games before the break and still have three more to go on this current, season-long, nine game trip. The Spurs have dropped four in a row to teams above .500 and all of them have been by seven points or more and this opponent is as potent as any of them.

The Clippers boast the NBA's best offense (113.6 points per 100 possessions) since New Year's Day despite having Chris Paul for only four games during that stretch. With Paul fully healed, expect Los Angeles to be even more lethal. The Clip Joint is on a three-game winning streak with wins over Toronto by 13, Philly by 45 and Portland by five. The Clippers have to establish themselves as a contender and after losing to San Antonio by 24 points in the last meeting back in January, they figure to come into this one intent on sending a message. Frankly, the Clip Joint couldn’t have handpicked a better time to face the Spurs.

Patrick Webb

Villanova vs. Providence
Play: Villanova -4

Villanova is coming off a blowout loss to Creighton Sunday losing by 21 and allowing Creighton to shoot over 60% from the field. Villanova is 9-4 ATS on the road this season (17-6 overall) and face a Providence team that is willing to match their tempo. Providence is not a great defensive team and allow opponents to average over a point per possession. Villanova enters this game scoring 1.16 points per possession and have four viable scoring options and five players who have made 20+ three pointers over the season.

Nova ran Providence out of the gym in the previous meeting this season and won by 30 by hitting 14 of 26 three pointers and forcing Providence into 17 turnovers. The three point shooting is unsustainable, but if Nova hits close to their season average of 36.4% their edge in Free Throw Rate, TO% and rebounding should allow plenty of room for this number.

Providence doesn't have a ton of depth and basically run just a six man rotation in conference play. The Friars have three rotational players that are 6'9 or taller but their key player is Bryce Cotton who is scoring 23.0 points per game while playing almost every minute of Big East play so far this season. The Friars size hasn't translated into a dominant rebounding team and they struggle from the field hitting less than 42% of their attempts (34% from three).

Providence would have to own the offensive glass in this game, win TO% and avoid foul trouble for any of their key players to stay in this game. Villanova has too many scoring options and could tire out the Friars with their pace and ability to force turnover generating transition points early and often.

NC State vs. Clemson
Play: Clemson -3½

It is a very tough bounce back game for NC State as they are playing just three days after nearly knocking off undefeated and No. 1 Syracuse. North Carolina State has benefitted from good fortune, going 8-3 in single-digit outcomes and 5-2 in games decided by five or less, so they could easily have a much worse mark.

True, the Tigers are also off tough losses, but hitting the road after nearly upsetting the top ranked undefeated team is a much tougher situation. Clemson is 10-2 straight up at home and facing a team that is under .500 on the road, which includes a one-point win not to mention a four-point struggle at UNC Greensboro.

Despite their good fortune, the Wolfpack is just a half-game better than Clemson in overall mark and they are both .500 in conference play. The Tigers are slightly better and home court in college basketball is generally worth about five points. They get the cover here.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Indiana Pacers
Play: Atlanta Hawks +10½

On Tuesday, Play Against February favorites of 10 or more points like the Pacers after going under the total by 54 or more points total in their last ten games. The logic to this free play is their low scoring ways and what would be a strong defense might keep them from covering a double digit spread. In the past 18 years the favorite is 8-29 against the spread.

Like Northwestern, Clemson has played a ridiculous amount of slow paced, low scoring games. In 12 ACC contests, the Tigers have topped 120 points only four times in regulation – two came against up-tempo Duke and North Carolina and another against Boston College (122) who sports one of the worst defenses in college basketball. Last time out, despite only 53 possessions, Clemson and Virginia hit 121. That final is some deceiving as both teams had 90 points with five minutes to go. NC State is a young squad that has a tendency to let its opponent dictate tempo. In games against Duke and North Carolina, there were possessions and points galore. But we've seen the Wolfpack play grinders as well: 56-55 vs. Miami, 56-55 vs. Syracuse, 76-45 vs. Virginia. Overall, both squads average less than a point per possession in conference play and with the pace projected to be slow, it suggests that hitting 120 points will be a tall task.

Atlanta Hawks +10.5

The Pacers are now the favorite to win the NBA title with odds that are shorter than the Heat. They are coming off a rare home loss before the All-Star break. This team is loaded with talent and bettors want to back them. We get some value getting double-digits on the Hawks here. That value is increased by the fact that Atlanta has lost five straight games and their offense in those games has looked horrible. But the Hawks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games vs. teams above .600. This is purely a contrarian play. Take the points with the Hawks.

Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets
Play: Phoenix Suns -2½

While you more or less like to fade hot teams out of the break, cannot make a case for Denver here against the Suns. The Suns beat them a month ago at home by 14 and also won in Denver back in December by 4 as well. The Nuggets have lost their last 4 games in bad fashion and by a combined 88 points over the spread. WOW. As a matter of fact they have in those 4 games got only as close to 15 points to the spread number in those blowout losses, UNREAL. I cannot remember a team losing that bad against the spread by double digits on a repeated basis. The Suns offense vastly better and Denver allowing 115 ppg their last 5 will doom them tonight. The Suns are a team to keep your eye on and are 5-1 ATS their last 6 roadies and 4-0 ATS their last 4 games against teams with a losing record.

Washington Wizards -2½

Washington will be hungry tonight. It entered the All-Star break with two straight losses. Plus, it lost the season's first two meetings with Toronto and was crushed 101-88 at home in the most recent meeting. That loss actually bodes well for us. Consider that the Wizards are 24-7 ATS when seeking revenge for a home loss over the last two seasons and 14-3 ATS this season when seeking revenge for a loss where it allowed 100 points or more. The Wizards are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games versus teams that have a winning record. Lay the points as Washington gets a little payback tonight.
