Scott Spreitzer

Iona at Rider
PICK: Iona

I went against the Gaels on Friday and we were rewarded with a winning ticket on Loyola-Maryland. But the Gaels bounced back with a win last time out and I expect them to continue their fight for top spot in the MAAC with a win over Rider. The Gaels have 5 players averaging between 18.9 ppg and 7.1 ppg. And they're led by one of the best "dishers" in the nation, Scott Machado. The Iona PG already has 258 assists on the season, averaging 9.9 apg. All that, yet he has time to average 13.2 ppg and 5.3 rpg. Machado went unmatched in this season's first meeting with Rider, a 91-71 Iona win. He finished with 15 assists and just 2 turnovers, while scoring 11 points and grabbing 9 boards. As a team, Iona "nailed" 54.8% of their shots, including over 44% from behind the arc. Iona is the nation's 5th best shooting team, making 49.7% of their FGA, (38.2% 3-pointers), while scoring 83.2 ppg. And Rider will play uptempo, which plays right into Iona's desired style. Rider gives up 75.4 ppg on nearly 44% shooting. They're also a pretty bad rebounding team. The Broncs are 7-3 SU in conference play against teams who currently own a losing record. They're just 1-4 SU against teams with winning records. The Broncs' 4 losses came by an average margin of 15.5 ppg. I expect more of the same tonight. I'm laying the points with Iona on Wednesday.

New Mexico vs. San Diego St
Play: Over 128

This Total is too low ! When these 2 Teams met a month ago at the Pit in Albuquerque, the Total closed at 137 as San Diego St won 75-70. Both Teams will run the court when possible, and have Guards that can score. While New Mexico's defense struggles vs quick athletic teams such as San Diego St. I made this Total 134-135. PLAY OVER !

Blazers vs. Warriors
Play: Under 197.5

This game fits a solid 90% totals system that plays to the under for home favorites with 1 or more day of rest at -4 or less that scored 90 or more and had 25 or less assists vs an opponent that was a 10 or more point home favorite in their last game. Golden St has stayed under in all tries as a home favorite of 3 or less. Portland has played under in all 3 games as a road dog of 3 or less and all 4 times vs teams who average 99 or less points. In games vs teams under .500 8 of their 12 games have stayed under and in the series over the last 3 seasons 6 of the previous 9 have gone under. Look for this one to stay under as well.

Bryan Power

Boston Bruins @ Montreal Canadiens
PICK: Montreal Canadiens

This storied rivalry has belonged to the Bruins this season, taking three of five meetings so far, but the Habs have a big edge playing at home tonight. Boston is off yet another shutout loss last night, falling to the Rangers 3-0 at home, which is certainly NOT the way you want to head into a big division rivalry game. The loss dropped the B's to only 6-7-1 their last 14 games overall. This game is critical for Montreal, who lost 5-3 to Carolina on Monday, ending a four-game win streak. The Canadiens remain on the 'outside looking in' when it comes to the playoffs, so two points here would be huge considering they are still seven back of eighth place Toronto in the Eastern Conference. I smell an upset brewing tonight.

Ben Burns

Boston @ Montreal Canadians
Pick: Montreal Canadians +1.5

After a winner with the Pistons yesterday, today's free play comes on the ice. The Canadiens are playing at home, have the schedule in their favor and arguably need this game more. However, its Boston which is favored. No surprise. The Bruins are the defending champs.

With the Bruins favored on the moneyline, we're able to play the Canadiens at +1.5 goals on the puck-line. While we have to lay a fairly steep price to do so, given the recent series history, our chances of cashing should be quite high.

These bitter rivals have faced each other five times this season. All five games have been extremely close. The Canadiens won one of them by two goals, scoring an empty-net goal with 12 seconds remaining for the 4-2 win. The other four were ALL decided by a single goal.

The Canadiens come in desperate for points. They had yesterday off after a disappointing loss Monday. Prior to that, they'd won four straight.

The Bruins are off a shutout loss yesterday. They've now dropped four of their six games in February. They've only had four wins since January 20th and three of those came by a single goal.

Looking at the last nine meetings between these teams here at Montreal and we find that only one of them resulted in a Boston win by more than one goal. Consider Montreal @ +1.5 goals.

Marc Lawrence

Arkansas @ Tennessee
PICK: Arkansas

We realize that the Hogs have been slaughtered outside of Arkansas this season, and are saddled with minor injuries, but this looks like a flat spot in Rocky Top or a rocky spot in Knoxville (whichever you prefer) for the host Volunteers as they entertain the revenge-minded Hogs tonight in Thompson-Boling Arena. Cuonzo Martin’s Vols arrive for this mid-week contest fresh off a weekend surprise in Gainesville with a trip to Tuscaloosa on deck. Tennessee also knocked the Razorbacks out of last season’s conference tourney and that brings Arkansas’ 4-1-1 ATS log with SEC tourney revenge – as well as the Volunteers’ own brutal 1-5 ATS mark as conference favorites versus a foe with payback – into the mix. And despite the 74-68 SU loss in the first round in Atlanta, the Hogs delivered their fifth straight cover in this series, improving their lifetime record as dogs between these two to 9-4 ATS, including 7-1 ATS when taking 4 or more points. Arky, again. We recommend a 1-unit play on Arkansas.

Sean Murphy

San Antonio @ Toronto
PICK: San Antonio -7.5

This is a miserable spot for the Raptors mentally after coughing up late leads in each of their last two games, at home no less.

The Spurs will be playing for the second consecutive night, but it's not a major concern, as Gregg Popovich has managed his team's minutes exceptionally well this season. Last night, only Richard Jefferson and Tony Parker reached 33 minutes of floor time. With Manu Ginobili back in the lineup, San Antonio boasts tremendous depth.

Of course, the Spurs have quite simply been the hottest bet in the league lately, winning eight games in a row SU, and eight of their last nine ATS.

The Raptors are also hot against the number, having posted a 6-1 ATS record over their last seven contests, but again, it's going to be awfully tough for them to get back up again following back-to-back heartbreaking losses.

Note that Toronto is just 4-9 SU at home this season. With a win on Wednesday, the Spurs would move back to the .500 mark on the road.

Last night, we saw San Antonio ease off the gas, and it almost cost them in Detroit. Following that uneven performance, I expect a much sharper effort on Wednesday night. When the Spurs are paying attention to detail, they're usually winning big, and that should be the case here.

Colorado State vs Boise State
Pick: Colorado State

Colorado State has go 15 wins with 6 games left. They have a terrific offense with 71.8 ppg, 22nd in the nation in field goal shooting (.482%). They also have no trouble with weak teams, as the Rams are 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 games vs. a team with a losing record. Boise State is on a 4-10 ATS run. The Broncos are 10-21 ATS in their last 31 games vs. a team with a winning record and 5-15 ATS in their last 20 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600. Play Colorado State!

SPORTS WAGERS

Ottawa +119 over FLORIDA

The Panthers have started winning again after going through a long stretch of mediocrity. Prior to its current three-game winning streak in which they've outscored their opponenets 10-3, Florida had won just eight of its last 24 games. Even during this modest streak, they've been anything but dominating. They were outshot in all three games and mustered just 19, 20 and 23 shots on net respectively. Florida is missing three key defensemen in Jason Garrison, Ed Jovanovski and Dmitry Kulikov. They're a hard-working club and they're never an easy out but they're a lot more appealing taking back a tag as oppose to laying one. The Senators are back on track with five out of a possible six points in their past three. They played last night in Tampa and crusied to a 4-0 victory. Lastly, the Sens own this foe. They've beaten them twice this season and they've beaten them in eight straight now. Nothing suggests this one will be any different. Play: Ottawa +119 (Risking 2 units).

Toronto +107 over EDMONTON

The Leafs losing streak hit four games last night after a 5-1 defeat in Calgary. Toronto has been oputscored in their past two games by an ugly count of 10-1. Goaltending has become the biggest issue, as James Reimer has been shaky and Jonas Gustavsson doesn't perform well under pressure. Note to Ron Wilson - when Reimer was out and Gustavsson knew he was going to be the everyday goaltender, he was brilliant. Despite losing its last two, the Leafs still created many scoring chances. They ran into two hot goaltenders in Carey Price and Mikka Kirprusoff last night. Tonight it's likely going to be Nikolai Khabibulin for the Oilers so you can expect the Maple Leafs to bury a few pucks here. The Oilers return home from a three-game trip to Toronto, Detroit and Ottawa. They went 1-2 on said trip and that inlcludes a 6-3 loss in Toronto. Like Florida, Edmonton is just so much more appealing as a dog. In the favorite's roll, they've won just six of its past 24 games and that stat alone tells us that betting against them when they're favored is a winning proposition over time. Play: Toronto +107 (Risking 2 units).

NEW JERSEY +139 over Memphis

The Nets stock has dipped dramatically with six straight losses. Their last two defeats have been by 17 and 14 points respectively. Toss in a 21-point loss to the Bulls and back-to-back losses to the then 4-21 Pistons and it makes it hard to pull the trigger on them here. The Grizzlies come in winners of three of four. They beat the Rockets last night by 10 and they beat the Pacers last Friday. However, the Grizz will play their third game in four nights here. They've played five straight at home and after this single game, they will host the Nuggets on Friday. This game becomes nothing but a nuisance and one that we may find Memphis disinterested in against a perceived weak team from the East. The Grizzlies have just five road wins in 14 games and the Nets are much better than their recent run indicates. They have some healthy bodies back, they're rested and they'll be ready to go tonight in this favorable spot. Play: New Jersey +139 (Risking 2 units).

ST. BONAVENTURE +102 over Temple

Temple is coming off that big win over Xavier. Combine that with the Owls current eight game win streak and they appear to be one of the better bets of the night. Most of those victories were of the blowout variety. However, most of them were against the bottom feeders in this conference and there's always a price to pay when you win easy against poor competition The A-10 is so tight right now with as many as seven teams having a chance to finsh first in the conference. So when we have one in that group team favored on the road against another in that group, we'll confidently endorse the host. The Bonnies are just two games back of first place Temple. They have just one loss at home (9-1) all season and that was a narrow two-point defeat to a very good N.C. State team. The Bonnies have not lost a conference home game all year. They play a strong brand of defense and in what has to be viewed as their biggest game in a while, expect nothing less than a full and inspired effort. Play: #557 St. Bonaventure +102 (Risking 2 units).

We're also playing the following games:

N. ILLINOIS +8 over Western Michigan Pinnacle
Play: Northern Illinois +8 (Risking 2.1 units to win 2).

TULANE +7½ over Memphis Pinnacle
Play: Tulane (Risking 2.16 units to win 2).

Fordham vs. Duquesne
Play: Duquesne -14

Off Saturday's 21-point loss at St. Bonaventure, Duquesne should bounce back nicely inside the Palumbo Center on Wednesday night.

Since Valentine's Day of 2010, the Dukes have played extremely well in Pittsburgh posting a respectable 23-7 SU and 13-8-2 ATS record. At home this year, Duquesne holds a decent 9-3 SU (5-3-2 ATS) mark and has suffered three tough losses to Robert Morris, St. Josephs and LaSalle by a combined nine points.

Fading Fordham on foreign soil won't be an issue. As a conference guest facing a foe that enters off a straight up loss, the Rams have really struggled posting a weak 29-45-5 ATS record. In this role priced as an underdog or a favorite of -2 or less, Fordham slips to a stiff 23-43-5 ATS including a nasty 9-23-2 ATS in this set taking the court with four or more days of rest.

In the last three meetings between these two Atlantic 10 foes, Duquesne has exploded offensively posting 89, 111 and 91 points respectively in its three wins! That's an average of 97.0 points per game! Matched up against a Fordham defense that allows an average of 70.5 points per game (87.0 in its last five on the road), the Dukes will have no trouble lighting up the scoreboard again here. Take Duquesne.

Detroit Pistons +9

While the Pitons come in off consecutive losses, they have won four of their last six games overall and are 6-1 in their last 7 games against the spread. Detroit was so bad early on in the season that they are still showing great value after covering six of seven. A big reason for the Pistons turnaround is they are as healthy as they have been all season. I don't think they will have any trouble keeping this game within double-digits.

While Detroit is just not getting healthy, the Pistons continue to deal with injuries to key players. Boston is already without Brandon Bass and Mickael Pietrus, and are now expected to be without Kevin Garnett, who is listed as doubtful with a hip injury. Garnett doesn't put up huge numbers anymore, but he is still a huge part of what the Celtics stand for. He is the guy that keeps the defensive intensity as the other players feed off of his energy. Boston struggled without him in the lineup last year, and I expect the same thing to happen tonight.

There's no denying the Celtics are a great home team when it comes to winning games. Because so many people back Boston blindly at home it leads to a lot of inflated lines. Boston is just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5. BET THE PISTONS
