It's good to play after getting some rest. But in this case, the Heat could be rusty from having too much rest. Miami last played on Thursday.

I envision the Heat toying around with the Raptors, whose young players will be highly motivated going against LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and former teammate Chris Bosh.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
It's easy to overlook the Raptors with their lack of stars. Toronto, though, often slips under-the-radar getting good line value. The Raptors had won 10 of 13 before losing four in a row, including blowing 19 and 20-point leads against Philadelphia and Milwaukee. The Raptors got back to winning, beating the Lakers at home in their last game this past Sunday, 108-103. That should provide a nice confidence boost for the Raptors.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Toronto quietly is 9-3-1 ATS in its last 13 games versus Eastern Conference opponents. The Raptors are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games in Miami. Only once in their last 19 games have the Raptors lost by more than 12 points.

This game fits the nice totals system be low which has cashed 9 of the last 10 times dating to 1999. We want to play the under for road dogs with rest like the Lakers that were on the road with a point spread between +3 to -3 and scored 90 or less points on 45% or less shooting, vs an opponent like Memphis that scored 90 or less as a home favorite of 5 or more in their last game. This system with an average total around 184 points averages around 170 points. Memphis has played under all 12 times after scoring 85 or less points last out and 7 of 8 off a straight up favored loss. They are coming off a non conference game and have stayed under in 13 of 14 in this role. Over the past few seasons they have also played under 9 of 11 times at home after scoring 90 or less at home in their last game. The Lakers have stayed under in 5 of 7 off a loss by 10 or more points and will be stuck in a pace less half court game against a slow it down Memphis team. Look for this one to stay under the total.

It can be a little nerve-racking to go against the defending World Champions. The Heat are capable of a big win every time out, a fact that the Raptors are well aware of.

The champs have had an extended layoff here though and they're laying double-digits at the betting window.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Facing a scrappy Raptors team, which has been competitive nearly every time it has taken the floor, I feel the number may prove a little high.

The Heat haven't played for nearly a week. Their most recent game was last Thursday, at LA.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Rest can be nice, particularly after an extended road trip. However, that's a pretty long layoff. I wouldn't be surprised if the players are slightly out of sync. Adding a new player (Chris Anderson) to the mix may not help in that regard.

Note that the Heat are 0-2 ATS this season, when playing with three or more day's rest in between games.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
On 11/29, the Heat had four day's off in between games. Laying 13 points, they barely defeated a severely depleted San Antonio team.

A couple of weeks before that, they had three day's off before a game vs. Milwaukee. Laying 9.5 points, the Heat won by seven.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Raptors are also well-rested; but not overly so. They last played on Sunday, earning a victory over the Lakers.

The Raptors obviously don't have the type of stars that the Heat do. However, they are playing well and working hard right now. Prior to the win over LA, they'd lost four in a row. However, a closer look reveals that that those four losses came by an average of less than seven points, none greater than 11.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Going back further finds Toronto at a profitable 12-6-1 ATS its last 19. Note that the Raptors are 5-1 ATS when off an "upset" win.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
While they've admittedly had some trouble with Miami, the Raptors are still a solid 14-9 ATS the past couple of seasons, when listed as road underdogs in the 9.5 to 12 range. During the same stretch, the Heat are 10-17-2 ATS as home favorites in the 9.5 to 12 range. Consider grabbing the points.

FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Rather quietly, Washington has been on the ascent, especially since star G John Wall returned from a knee injury earlier this month. Not only is Wall’s stat line improving with each outing, but the Wizards have won four of their last six outright, which is almost 1995-96 Bulls-like stuff in D.C. Moreover, Washington has been providing some decent pointspread value since before RG III first hurt his knee for the hometown Redskins vs. the Ravens in early December, standing 18-6-1 vs. spread from Dec. 4 thru Monday's win at Portland. The cover streak has also reached seven in a row after that success at the Rose Garden vs. Blazers. Still, this is the last game of an extended 5-game western swing for Randy Wittman’s troops, and Utah has made a fortress out of EnergySolutions Arena, winning and covering last four in Salt Lake City and now 12-5 vs. spread as host. Jamaal Tinsley deserves some kudos for helping keep Utah afloat in absence of injured PG Mo Williams (still rehabbing thumb injury), as Jazz have won 7 of first 12 with Tinsley manning the point.

We’re usually not looking for spots to buck a hot Valpo side that’s won its last 5, and 8 of its last 9 SU, and has assumed the “team-to-beat” label in the Horizon League after last week’s stirring comeback win at Detroit. But Brian Wardle’s well-drilled Green Bay is making some noise as well, with SU wins in its last four, coinciding with the recent emergence of 6-7 frosh F Jordan Fouse, who has scored in DDs in three of last four for the surging Fighting Phoenix. Play UW Green Bay

Denver is 25-18 SU and 24-18 ATS; it's coming off a 121-118 OT win over OKC as a 1 point underdog on the 20th. The Nuggets have won four straight in this series, averaging 104 points in those contests. Denver is in fact one of the NBA's highest scoring teams at 103.1 per game.

It also leads the league in second-chance points, offensive rebounds and points in the paint.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
One player you'll want to keep your eyes on is Denver's Ty Lawson who has scored at least 20 points in all four games during his team's series winning streak.

And note that Denver is 9-5 ATS in its last 14 vs. good offensive teams that score 99-plus points per contest.

Houston is 22-21 SU and 21-21-1 ATS; it's coming off a 100-94 win at Charlotte on the 21st.

I'll caution in reading too much into that victory, as the Rockets have really struggled in all facets of the game to start the new year; note that they've averaged just 94.1 PPG over their last eight games, and lead the league in turnovers.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The defense though is mostly to blame as it ranks last in points allowed at 103.2 PPG.

And note that Houston is just 6-7 ATS this year vs. good offensive teams that score 99-plus points per contest.

These teams are clearly moving in opposite directions right now, and I fully expect the surging Nuggets to take full advantage!

Life isn’t easy on the Big Ten road this season. As of this writing, only one team – Indiana – has failed to taste defeat away from home. And even though Minnesota’s lone conference loss came on the road against the Hoosiers, Tubby’s Gophers find themselves in a tough spot against the less-talented Wildcats in Welsh-Ryan Arena. That’s because Minnesota takes the court off a huge triple-revenger against mighty Michigan on Thursday with a game against league-leading Wisconsin on deck after today’s fracas. The ATS archives tell us Minny is a moneyburner on the road after scrapping with the Wolverines (1-4 ATS) and before battling the Badgers (1-3 ATS). The Purple Cats may be off to a 1-3 SUATS start in Big Ten play at press time (and their lone quality win came against Baylor back in early December) but they’ve been golden against the Gophers at home of late, winning and covering four straight meetings. We also don’t mind backing the Wildcats in their coveted home dog role where they’ve gone 3-1 ATS the last four when playing with Big Ten revenge (lost to Minnesota on 1/6). Gophers grounded in Evanston today. We recommend a 1-unit lay on Northwestern.

There are a lot of things you will see in this NBA game and one thing you won't see: defense! Both teams prefer an uptempo, attacking style. Denver is 4th in the NBA in points scored, 25th in points allowed, and the over is 14-6 in the Nuggets last 20 road games. Houston is all about running for coach Kevin McHale, second in scoring, 30th in points allowed. The over is 6-1 in the Rockets last 7 home games and 18-7-1 over the total in their last 26 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game. Play the Nuggets/Rockets over the total.

Dana Altman is doing his usual sensational coaching job and as a result Oregon has now taken over sole possession of the top spot in the PAC-12. I put quite a bit of emphasis into coaching when handicapping college hoops, and as a result I rarely try to beat this Oregon team. But even the toughest coaches and squads have flat spots on their schedule, and this sure looks like the pancake for Oregon. The Ducks are off the SoCal road sweep, which was preceded by the home wins against the two 'Zona entries. Up next is a huge game with Washington where a win would really put Oregon in tremendous shape to win the league title. I don't see the visitors having much chance to win this outright, but Washington State should be good enough to at least keep this contest competitive. I'll tab Washington State getting doubles as tonight's free play.

Red Birds - the 7.5... Jackie Carmichael..6` 9" senior beast from Kansas is ready to have a monster ball game... LAY THE 7.5 as these Redbirds held the Salukis to 21 first-half points last game and they will pay back these Indy St boys after a 77-75 loss the last game. Illinois State features the 2nd highest scoring offense in the Valley and 39th nationally, averaging 75.9 points .......... lay it

Marshall vs. Southern Miss
Play: Marshall

Will back the Thundering Herd here. Yes, they do have some negative trends working against them. Regardless, I can't let the H2H numbers go to waste. Marshall is 6-0 ATS last 6 overall and 3-0-1 ATS last 4 here at Southern Miss.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors
Play: Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder are the best thing going in the NBA right now. The bounced back from a loss to Denver to roll the Clippers on the road last night in a huge clash. The next night they are up the coast to face a surprising Golden State team but at -2 there is still tremendous value. If the Warriors decide to play the slower pace they have been winning with this year that might actually play to OKC’s favour on the second of a back to back. It has been almost two years since the Thunder lost to the Warriors and they have covered 4 straight against Golden State.

This is an interesting spot for the Suns. After a shaky transfer of coaching power in which GM Lance Blanks chose Lindsay Hunter over Suns assistants Dan Majerle and Elston Turner, which in turn caused the two assistants to walk out on the team (and haven't been seen since), Phoenix will play its first game under its new coach. The Suns are at the bottom of the Western Conference at 13-28. They have lost 13 of 15 and are just 2½ games ahead of Washington for the worst record in the NBA. Chaos surrounds them right now yet the line doesn't reflect any of that, which has our attention. The number suggests a good response by the Suns and it's a good spot for that to occur.

For the Kings, this game is sandwiched between returning home from a 1-2 road trip and games on deck against Oklahoma City and Denver. The Kings are an erratic bunch that are much more appealing taking back points than spotting them. The Kings also don't match up well with Phoenix, having lost to them in four straight including a nine-point loss this year in the two teams only meeting this season. Phoenix outright.

These two sit at the bottom of the Big East with 1-4 records but the Pirates of Seton Hall do not have a notable win on its slate all season. The Halls' best win came against DePaul? Wake Forest perhaps? Either way, it's not a ringing endorsement. Their out-of conference schedule was filled with cream puffs and their strength of schedule ranks at 121st in the nation. Prior to playing Big East competition, the Pirates SOS ranked 198.

The Bulls’ strength of schedule ranks 32nd in the country. They have wins over a solid group that includes Georgetown, Georgia, UCF and George Mason. South Florida plays a strong defensive style and that should bode well here against a careless host that turns the ball over at an alarmingly high rate. Not only do we get the superior, more disciplined team here, we also get some points to go with them and in a game they can easily win, that definitely works for us.
