Phoenix is a young team playing well with an uptempo offense, 7th in the NBA in scoring. Just as the mighty Indiana Pacers, the best defensive team in the NBA, as the Suns just torched them for 124 points! Phoenix is on a 5-2 run over the total and the over is 6-1 in the Suns last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. One night after rallying from an 18-point halftime deficit to beat Cleveland, Phoenix (26-18) led wire-to-wire in a 124-113 victory over Philadelphia on Monday. Gerald Green scored a season-high 30 as the Suns shot 53.8 percent. Milwaukee is playing no defense for coach Larry Drew, 24th in the NBA in three-point defense and 15th in points allowed. The Bucks dropped to 4-17 at home with a 114-86 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. The over is 13-3-1 in the Bucks last 17 vs. a team with a winning record. Despite falling 108-99 at the Bradley Center last season, the Suns have won 16 of 22 at Milwaukee. The over is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings in Milwaukee, as well as 4-1 in the last five meetings overall. Play Phoenix/Milwaukee Over the total!

San Jose vs. Edmonton
Play: Under 5½
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
Edmonton is coming off rare back-to-back victories, hammering the Predators 5-1 on Sunday and then scoring two third-period goals to beat the Canucks 4-2 on Monday.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
"We're slowly getting stronger and it's good for the group," coach Dallas Eakins said after the victory against Vancouver.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
So is it time to jump on the Oilers band-wagon because of a couple of decent efforts?
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
Obviously not. Remember, Edmonton had scored just 12 total goals during a six-game slide previous to its small win skein.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
And a date vs. the Sharks is likely not what the doctor ordered for the team to continue its run as Edmonton is 0-4-2 the last six in the series, totaling 12 goals in that span.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
The Sharks look to bounce back tonight after a 1-0 loss to the Kings on Monday. San Jose looked great defensively for the most part, but its offense was held to just nine shots over the first two periods and its 23 total for the game equaled its second-lowest of the year.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
One player you'll want to keep your eyes on today is Sharks' goaltender Annti Niemi who is 3-0-0 at Edmonton and who also has a very respectable 2.18 GAA while going 7-0-1 overall vs. the Oilers.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
Note that San Jose has seen the total dip below the number in 11 of 17 vs. teams with losing records this year and interestingly in five of seven after scoring 1 goal or less in its previous contest.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
And note that despite the plethora of high-scoring affairs that it's been involved in this season that Edmonton has in fact shown a penchant to playing to lower-scoring games in this position, the total going "under" the number in eight of its last 15 after scoring 4 goals or more in its previous contest.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
Consider a second look at the "under" in this one.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Miami Heat
Play: Miami Heat -4

With all due respect to the ridiculous run of hot scoring by Kevin Durant, the Oklahoma City Thunder (36-10) is going against a Miami Heat (32-12) that just has its’ number and I expect that trend to continue in this powerhouse matchup in South Beach tonight. The Heat is a perfect 5-0 SU and ATS against the Thunder on home court the past three seasons. The Heat is 19-3 SU at home this season and is the healthier of the two squads. While the loss of Russell Westbrook has been mitigated nicely by the stretch of MVP performances from Durant, it will likely show in this game where the Heat have just play a style of game that make the Thunder vulnerable. LeBron James considers himself the best player in the league and I expect this to be a game where he will want to show why he is the MVP and not Durant. The home court and having Dwayne Wade back in the lineup won’t hurt “The Kings’” chances of that happening here as well. Look for the Heat to get the win and cover the spread along the way.

Belmont vs. Morehead State
Play: Morehead State +1

Morehead St has some nice right back revenge here as they lost by 14 to Belmont of the road last Thursday. They come in off a road win and will be poised to exact revenge on a Belmont team that us just 1-4 straight up as a road favorite of 3 or less and has failed to cover 12 of the last 17 in the second half of the season vs a winning team. Morehead St has won 7 of 9 here at home and is also 4-1 with road loss revenge. The last time these two met here Belmont escaped with a 1 point win. Look for another tight game. We take Morehead St tonight at home plus the points.

Massachusetts vs. St Bonaventure
Play: St Bonaventure +1

The Massachusetts Minutemen are still holding a spot in the Top 25 rankings, currently #21 in the country. They don't have a very impressive resume though, for a ranked team. Sure they have only lost two games all year long, but they have only played one ranked team, and that was the New Mexico Lobos who have since fallen out of the Top 25.

Their victories have come by a fairly slim margin as well, and one of those came at home versus the Bonnies earlier this month, and the Minutemen had to come from behind to win by a score of 73-68. The Bonnies led 32-25 at halftime, and didn't surrender the lead until late in the second half.

The Bonnies have been a far better team at home than they have been on the road, winning eight of nine. The home team has won all four meetings in this series dating back to 2011, and the Bonnies have been a moneymaker at home for several seasons now. They are a staggering 32-12 ATS in their last 44 home games.

Air Force vs. Boise State
Play: Air Force +15

The Falcons are 9-4 ATS and only lost by 12 points at Boise State last year. Air Force's last four road games were losses by 6, 6, 13 and 6 points. Look for the road team to stay within 12 points and cover on Wednesday night.

Detroit Pistons at Atlanta Hawks
Pick: Detroit Pistons

Amazing how the disparity in the quality of the two NBA conferences affects a team’s outlook. In the previous write-up, we talked about the view from the cellar for the Pelicans with their 18-25 record – while the Pistons are 17-27 and still have a reasonable shot at the post-season! Yes, even after a loss to lowly Milwaukee where they blew a double-digit second half lead, Detroit is only two games out of the eighth seed in the East. The Pistons dropped a pair of back-to-back decisions to the Hawks earlier this season in November, and added value comes to this play with the Pistons in off a home game with Orlando last night. As for Atlanta, HC Mike Budenholzer has his Hawks two games over .500 and in second place in the Southeast division behind the Heat. Atlanta took advantage of Miami’s circus-induced 13-day road trip on Monday night, and then completed a quick sweep of the Florida teams with a 112-109 victory over Orlando, as seven Hawks scored in double figures. Unfortunately, Atlanta shows up off a gut wrenching, same-season revenger with the Thunder (0-3 SUATS after OKC), and is 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS before the 76ers. Also, they are just 10-15 ATS versus losing opponents this season. Take the points in this battle of floundering playoff contenders (sic). We recommend a 1-unit play on Detroit.

Larry Ness

Colorado State at Nevada
Pick: Nevada

The Wolf Pack got a HUGE lift when the 6-9 West (a JUCO transfer) became eligible back on Dec 22. Nevada has gone 6-3 SU (7-2 ATS) with West, as he's averaged 7.9 & 7.4 while adding 24 blocks. He's joined the 6-8 Huff (11.4-5.4) up front to give the Wolf Pack a solid inside duo to match the team's excellent guard duo of Burton (21.7-3.8) and UTEP transfer Perrez (12.0-4.2-3.1), who has been a much better complement for Burton than Story (16.7) was last season. Throw in the 6-8 Evans (13.2-6.4), an excellent swingman plus a terrific perimeter defender, and Nevada is a "team to watch" down the stretch in the MWC tourney.

Colorado St owned a significant manpower edge last year (Rams won both meetings), but the tables have been turned. Larry Eustachy had FIVE senior starters last year, with FOUR averaging in double digits, led by the 6-10 Colt Iverson (14.2-9.8). The fifth-starter was the 6-5 Hornung (8.4-8.9), who was maybe the team's MVP and surely it's best defender. This year's frontline is relying on smaller components such as 6-7 Navy transfer J.J. Avila (18.4-7.6) and the 6-9 Santo (6.6-4.1), with CSU's top rebounder being 6-4 guard Bejarano (16.4-9.0). ppg).

David Carter's Nevada team has the much better defensive force on the blocks in West and also owns the game's best scorer in Burton. That 'daily double' produces a win and cover!

LA SALLE AT GEORGE WASHINGTON
PLAY: GEORGE WASHINGTON -4.5
INSTEAD OF LEACHING OFF OTHERS WORK GO GET IT YOURSELF VIKESFAG
Same season revenge in play tonight on a handful of games, including the duel between La Salle and George Washington. The first meeting between these two went to La Salle, so the Colonials will be out to even the score tonight.
INSTEAD OF LEACHING OFF OTHERS WORK GO GET IT YOURSELF VIKESFAG
That initial battle was a little unusual in that La Salle led almost the entire game, but the decision was up for grabs for nearly the entire 40 minutes as well. The Explorers could never pull away from GW, but managed to maintain the lead throughout en route to the eventual 76-72 win.
INSTEAD OF LEACHING OFF OTHERS WORK GO GET IT YOURSELF VIKESFAG
The difference the first time around was the three-point shooting. The Explorers are not a a good team from long distance, but nailed nine in that game. George Washington, on the other hand, was very inaccurate on their bombs in that hookup. They aren’t a team that relies heavily on the three, but they’ve been pretty good for the most part when they go that route. That certainly was not the case in the first duel between these two entries.
INSTEAD OF LEACHING OFF OTHERS WORK GO GET IT YOURSELF VIKESFAG
If I’m feeling pretty good about some correction to the norm in the rematch, I like the current form even more. George Washington has gotten hot again, rolling to four straight wins. It’s not going nearly so well for La Salle. The Explorers were horrible in an ugly loss at St. Bonaventure, and now must rebound off a potentially demoralizing double OT loss to VCU over the weekend.
INSTEAD OF LEACHING OFF OTHERS WORK GO GET IT YOURSELF VIKESFAG
I am a fan of trying to make a case for the avenging team when it’s a rematch of a close first meeting. Add in the recent results and what I felt were a few abnormal numbers from the earlier contest, and it looks like an okay spot for the home team tonight. I’ll side with George Washington minus the points this time.

Tough spot for the Clippers to be laying more than four baskets. They're back home for the first time since January 15. They have a "bigger" game on deck Thursday night at Golden State and making it even tougher to play their "A-game" for four quarters is the fact they had no trouble with Washington in a 113-97 win in D.C. in mid-December. The Wizards have played a decent brand of basketball of late winning six of nine games outright with the three losses coming by a grand total of just 11 points. Washington enters on a 10-3 ATS run on the road after last night's win and I believe they're in a great spot to cash ATS. I'm recommending the Wizards plus the points on Wednesday.

The road team is 5-2 ATS in this series and San Jose 4-0 ATS L4 meetings in Edmonton. San Jose clearly holds the edge here, but we're going to play this from a different angle considering the Sharks are -180. The under is 9-1-1 in the Sharks last 11 overall and 6-0 in Sharks last 6 vs. a team with a losing record. With a flat price on total, we'll play this one under 5½.

Temple lost at Rutgers on New Year's Day 71-66. That loss started an eight game losing streak. Dalton Pepper and Quenton DeCosey had big games for the Owls in the first meeting but second leading scorer, Will Cummings was able to only get ( 2 for 12 ) in 38 minutes. Look for Anthony Lee to help out as well for Temple. Always tough to lay points with a team that has dropped 8 straight and ( 10 of 11 ) but it looks like a chance to take advantage of a winless road team! If the Owls are going to win one this could be it! Temple has to keep the Mack & Jack attack under control as Myles Mack & Kadeem Jack average 29 points a night between them. Coach Fran Dunphy will have his Owl team ready!

Bryan Power

Phoenix vs. Milwaukee
Pick: Milwaukee

The Suns have had a remarkable season in that coming into the year they were believed to be the worst team in the Western Conference and here we are approaching the All-Star Break and they are fighting for a playoff berth.

That being said, tonight is an overlay.....

The Milwaukee Bucks have been truly awful. I expected this coming into the year, but did not think they would be the worst team in the league, which they most certainly are. Their current scoring average (91.1) would be the lowest over any 82-game season since 2005-06. They trailed the Clippers by as many as 39 points Monday, which dropped them to 1-12 SU in 2014. I actually had them in their lone SU victory of the calender year, which came here at home against Detroit exactly one week ago. They have failed to cover by a combined 40 points the last two games, but generally speaking its pretty hard to be this bad over a sustained period of time.

This will be just the fifth time this season that the Suns have been favored by more than eight points. They have thrived as underdogs, but this is just the 11th time they have been asked to lay more than 2.5 points. Laying this many points on the road is typically reserved for only the best teams, which the Suns are not, plus they have a potential lookahead to Indiana tomorrow night. Hold your nose and take the points in this one.
