Indian Cowboy

4 Unit Play.Take the Toronto Raptors -5.5 over Oklahoma City Thunder

Glad we were able to cash the under last night in Chicago. For tonight's play, let's take the Raptors at home against the Thunder. The Raps have been playing much better at home lately with wins of 9 over Milwaukee, 24 over the Clippers and 23 over Indiana. The total was interesting in the sense that I felt that this game would go over given that Toronto has put up 115 (against milwaukee), 100 (against the clips), 110 (against indiana), 101 (against utah) and 102 (against miami). Hence, I was leaning on the over, but I laid off as the Thunder have played in 6 straight and 8 of 9 unders. I understand the Thunder come off a tough loss to the Lakers at home but the Raps getting hot right now and they have a sound rotation that is playing well with the addition of Marion. With Parker, Calderon, Bosh, Marion, Bargnani, and Kapono, this team has put together 6 guys that can score as all 6 had at least 14 points against the Bucks. The Bucks in many ways are similar to Oklahoma as they try to focus on defense and have limited offense. Oklahoma City is a solid team but they rely a great deal on their outside shot. Toronto attempted around 40 free throws in their last contest against Milwaukee as they are taking it to the hoop with more agressiveness as Marion allows this team to do that as he has in some ways change this team's style of play. So, rather than the over, let's just roll with Toronto at home, with revenge over a Thunder team that defeated them eariler this year and a team who is beginning to cover at home with regularity again. The Raps are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 contests as a favorite and 4-1 ATS against teams with a winning % of less than .400 meaning the Raps are stepping up againts weaker teams. This team has underachieved so much this year, maybe they are starting to pull it together a bit more with Marion as he gives them an added scoring and rebounding lift.

4 Unit Play. Take Syracuse +1 over Oklahoma Sooners

After a nice winner with San Diego State, JMU doesn't show up for us in a dismal call on my end. Let's back on track with the Orange as they face the Oklahoma Sooners tonight. Keep in mind I faded Oklahoma when they faced Missouri earlier this year as well. It's not that I'm not a fan of both Griffins, but Oklahoma has not beat a top 25 power ranking team all year. Syracuse is an average of 10 in most power rankings currently. Oklahoma did beat Purdue who is ranked 30th and beat Texas once this yaer at home. But, when they went on the road to face a top 25 power ranking team in Texas they lost by 5, they lost to Kansas at home by 9, Missouri on the road by 9 and top 30 Oklahoma State on neutral footing by 1. Yes, this team beat Morgan State and Michigan, but they struggled in the Michigan at times which the final score does not show. So, you have an Oklahoma team that lost to Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas and Missouri, all teams in the top 25 in power rankings with Ok State in the top 30. Oklahoma has beat just one team in the top 25 in the power rankings all year and it was Texas one of two times. Syracuse on the other hand, comes off from the Big East and has severa major wins this year. This team beat West Virginia, a top 20 power ranking team, Uconn a top 5 power ranking team, Arizona State a top 20 power ranking team and a top 20 team in Marquette on the road. Syracuse is coming together at the right time this year and their win against Kansas in semi-road game as well as a win against Memphis goes to show the strength of this team. I like Syracuse here given their strength of schedule in defeating top 25 power ranking teams and Oklahoma struggling against such taems despite having talented players. Jim B is a great big game coach and time and time again, let it be the Big East Tournament or the Dance, his players continue to do well while Coach Capel is a bit more green when it comes to the Dance. This should be a great game - a relatively tight game, but I see 'Cuse winning by 6-8 points here. Let's take the Orange as they are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 overall games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games on neutral footing and the Sooners are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 contests against the Big East.
