Note: The Hornets do not prefer to set a high pace but what I have found from this team is that they will play it when given the opportunity. This line opened at 206, flew to 209.5 and is now back down to it's current level. Regardless of this unusual line movement, the liklihood of 215+ is very good for this one. Golden State home affairs have averaged an amazing 220 this year and while many of those contests have been against much higher tempo teams, many have not been. This team can flat out score and they do not give a Rat's Ass if the opposition does. Their goal is just one, wear out the opponent and get them in the 4th quarter. They have done that quite well this year and they will continue to go with status quo for this one. This one is so simple that I will just make it short and add that both squads visit the free throw often, and both nail their free throw shots. GS currently at 79% and the visitors at 74%. That is an added bonus and so is the fact that we will probably see a close enough game to give us some freebies at the end. Handicapping does not always have to be time consuming and the word No-Brainer comes to mind here tonight. The Hornets are on a 4 game road win streak and they will come to town with a lot of confidence. That usually means that they will have enough of that to play whatever style the Warriors want to play. And we know what that is going to be right?

Note: Before you ask, I do know that Lamar Odom is out of the Lakers. But I also know that the average point total for Laker games 4 of the 5 times he has sat this year has been 217 points. In fact, 4 of the 5 he has not been on the court, we have seen the number end OVER what we have tonight, and the only time it did not, the LA Crew played the Rockets, one of the premier D Teams in the NBA. Sometimes we forget that star players also play good D themselves and the loss of Odom is a blow to this team on that front. We do have a lower than usual posted total because of that fact though, and I will pounce hard on it. Laker home contests have averaged 210 this year and at this place they love to control the tempo. They do that very well regardless of the venue in fact and did so the first time these two met back in Philly about a month ago in a 107-101 win. The Sixers play a good brand of D but tonight they will play their 5th game on this west coast roadtrip, and their 4th game in 5 nights. That lends itself to tired legs and tired legs lends itself to a less than stellar D effort. On the other side of the court, the Lakers have 4 days rest for this one and on 3 or more days rest this year, they are 3-0 OVER the mark. They have had time to rest up and they have had time to think hard about the loss to the Celtics, which was their worst this season at this arena. That is going to lead us to an upbeat affair tonight at this high scoring house and that is going to give us what we want. The Lakers are not going to be able to play halfcourt effectively in this game with the 9 rebounds that Odom accomplishes per contest and they know that. We can look for them to break toward the basket fastly and without hesitation. They certainly know as well as I that the Sixers are weary and they know the way to attack them is to get them into a running and shooting bonanza. I feel very strongly that they will meet that goal tonight.

Washington/Milwaukee 8:30: We believe we get great value in this 'total' based on what these teams have done historically in this series. In seven of the last eight in this series, each team has scored 102 or more. The one that didn't combined for 197 (@ Milwaukee 4/12/06). On the road Washington has averaged 100.5 ppg while allowing 101 ppg; consequently, we'll look for the Bucks to effectively trade baskets. And we realize that Michael Redd sustained a deep thigh bruise on Wednesday that could sideline him here; nevertheless, we'll look for the improving Bucks' bench (Bell, Villanueva, Ivey) to fill the scoring void vs the defensively lax Wizards. Milwaukee has gone 13-7 O/U in their last 20 at home in this 'total' range, and 6-2 O/U in their last 8 Friday tilts. Washington has gone 'over' in 9 of their last 12 as a dog. We believe this is a slight 'total' underlay and we'll go "over".

Denver/Minnesota 8:00: The Minnesota defense, or lack thereof, exudes high scoring 'totals' alone; however, factor in the poor shooting of the T'wolves, especially against division foes (39.7%) and the lopsided scores they've endured because of it, the T'wolves are recording consistent "unders". Minnesota is 1-5 O/U vs their last 6 division foes, 3-9 O/U following a loss of 10+, and on a current 1-5 O/U run overall. Moreover, Minnesota is 9-18 O/U as a dog and just 5-15 O/U w/ revenge. Denver, on the other hand, is coming off an win over San Antonio, in which we pegged correctly as a low scoring game, and sports a 3-8 O/U mark after allowing 85 or less. This series sports a range of 192 to 198 over the last four. Denver's gone 'under' in both of their road games in this 'total' range. "Under" the call.

Heavy overnight line movement has created some value here as the Pistons have been clicking on all cylinders offensively. They have averaged 107 points per game in their last five contests and Toronto has given up more than 100 during the same span so you can expect the Pistons to get their points tonight. We think they get close to 100 again and then the Raptors only need to make up the difference here. The Raps average 98 PPG at home and the Detroit defense isn’t quite as potent on the road as they are at home.

Neither of these teams has been able to score points lately and Cleveland has been playing very good defense as of late. Three of the Cavs last four opponents couldn’t manage to even get past 90 and two of those teams – New Orleans and Dallas – are solid offensively. Sacramento has had two straight high scoring games but those came against Phoenix and New York, two teams that lack any defense. In the two games before that, they scored low totals against stronger defensive clubs, Philly (80 points) and Boston (69). We expect the Cleveland defense to keep Sacramento in check and for both teams to shoot a low percentage in the game.

The Warriors have won three straight in this series and they have covered in four straight and we love them tonight against a road-weary Hornets club with a slim line. This is the Hornets fifth game in eight nights and they have a big matchup with the Suns coming tomorrow. The Warriors have had a brutal road schedule as of late and this will be their first home game in awhile and we think that will give them a boost. Golden State scores over 112 per game at home and we feel the Hornets will struggle to keep up tonight.
