Iceman NHL GOM

Money Line: -108 Ottawa Senators

NHL GAME of the MONTH

Pick on OTTAWA Buffalo will suffer a letdown after playing in the much hyped outdoor game in the Snow. The Senators are the better team and will be focused after losing a home-and-home series against the last place Capitals. Also, Rugged defenseman Anton Volchenkov is expected to return for the Senators on Friday after missing 15 games with a broken right index finger.

ETHAN LAW

DETROIT (25-7) at TORONTO (17-15)

Well something has to give tonight in tonights marquee ESPN match-up which features the hottest team in the NBA the Detroit Pistons facing the Toronto Raptors. The Pistons are on a 10 game winning streak, but more incredibly, a 13 game ATS streak, while I am personally on a 19 game winning streak so somebodys streak will end before the nights over! Because this game is on ESPN it will naturally be one of the heaviest bet games. It also will be bet extremely one-sidedly, and why not, Detroit is on an absolute roll. They are also 17-2 SU & 18-1 ATS in their last 19 games. In those 19 games though they faced only 2 teams with a better record than Toronto, they have faced mainly struggling below .500 teams, and have taken full advantage. Toronto is one of the most talented teams in the league and they defend home court very well. While they are only 8-6 at home so far this year, I expect their home winning % to rise dramatically in the upcoming weeks, as last year they finished 31-10 on their home court. The last 7 meetings between these 2 teams in Toronto the Raptors have outscored Detroit by an average of 96.1-94.6 points per game. Toronto is 4-3 SU & 5-2 ATS in those games. In 6 of those 7 meetings Detroit was favored, but only once did they cover as a favorite. Toronto is coming off a grueling 7 game road swing against Western Conference teams. They have had 3 days off since returning home though, so they have had ample opportunity to re-charge their batteries so to speak. The last time they had 3 or more days off they promptly stomped the world champion Spurs 83-73 in San Antonio. The last 2 teams Toronto beat on their road trip are very similar to the Pistons, the Spurs and Hornets are both good rebounding teams that win with defense. That just so happens to be Detroits blueprint for winning. Seemingly the Raptors match-up quite well against those types of teams. Add the fact that Detroit has a game tomorrow on their home court against Boston and we also have a nice look ahead on deck. With the ESPN cameras catching every play, I expect a playoff type atmosphere in front of a rocking home crowd, and I am calling for both Detroit streaks to end tonight in a straight up win by the Raptors.

PLAY 1* UNIT ON TORONTO +4.5
