Wunderdog

Game: Pittsburgh at Marquette
Pick: Game Total UNDER 135.5

Tough to up-tempo this Pitt team as 12 of their last 17 road games have played under the total. Marquette likes to play fast and in the first 11 games prior to Big East play, they were never held to under 73 points. Since Big East play has begun they have failed to top that mark six times, and face the masters of pace tonight in this Panther team, which runs everything on the defensive end of the court. Should be a physical battle with less scoring than indicated by this total, so we will play the UNDER here.

5 Unit Black Magic MAAC Game of the Month on Manhattan +2.5

Manhattan is showing serious value at home tonight due to a key injury hampering the Marist Red Foxes. Marist beat Manhattan at home back on January 7th by 10 points. They had one of their best scorers in Louie McCroskey who is averaging 12.4 points per game on the season. Now McCroskey is likely sitting out the rest of the season for Marist with an ankle injury. Marist has lost 3 out of their last 4 games overall when playing without McCroskey. Considering the home team is a PERFECT 8-0 straight up in the last 8 meetings between Marist and Manhattan, the edge clearly goes to the Jaspers at home tonight. Cash in with Manhattan as the underdog.

3 Unit Sharp Play on Princeton +2

Princeton is also showing great value as a home underdog Friday night. Princeton has won their last 3 home games and they are bound for a 4th straight tonight. Consistency in the starting 5 of Princeton has been clutch as of late, with 4 out of 5 of their starters scoring in double figures last game. Yale is just 2-7 in road games on the season, getting outscored by a ridiculous 13 points per game. Home court makes a huge difference in this conference and it will be on full display tonight. Head coach James Jones is 2-9 ATS off 2 consecutive wins by 10 points or more against conference rivals as the coach of Yale. Cash in with Princeton as the underdog.

JIM FEIST

The Bruins just cooled off the Pittsburgh Penguins with a solid 2-1 victory, the first of five straight games away from Boston. They are 3-0 their last 3 road games, and dominated the Penguins right from the start, outshooting them 13-4 in the opening frame and are battling NY for the 8th seed. Toronto is going nowhere, last in the division, losing 7 of 10 games. Bruins have dominated the last three meetings, winning 5-2, 4-2 and 2-1. Play the Bruins!

MATT RIVERS

For Friday take Marist in Manhattan

Rik Smits is not walking through the door for the Red Foxes tonight and the visitors have lost three of their last four games but Manhattan has turned into a joke and is a must go against here.

I really cannot pinpoint how Manhattan has regressed so rapidly to the point where they are today but they just flat out stink. I do realize that they lost their coach in Bobby Gonzalez but this freefall is still a bit much. This was a team that went to the NCAA tournament a few seasons ago and were very competitive against top notch schools. Now the Jaspers are one of the worst teams in the entire MAC and they have dropped eight of their last 9 games and 11 of 13 and it's not like they exactly have a home court that resembles Cameron Indoor or the Pit in New Mexico.

Take Marist"

I'm sure Manhattan would love to play their best game of the year tonight, as it's a rare national TV home spot for the Jaspers. But I just can't make a case for them on the numbers. Marist comes up as a solid five point favorite on my rankings. Neither team inspires any real confidence, but at the price I'll give Marist the look tonight."

**PREFERRED
Manhattan* over Marist by 7

Teams can't go on losing forever. Manhattan snapped an 8-game losing streak in its last game, and perhaps the absence of Patrick Bouli -- more minutes for freshman Rashad Green -- was one of the reasons. Green has made more than twice as many free-throws this season as the jump-shooting, poor free-throw shooter Bouli, in fewer minutes. Green was the Long Island Player of the Year in high school last year and is riding an up-curve as his minutes increase.

Marist has lost six in a row in Draddy Gym. It's a hard place to play, with bleachers on one side only, both sides bordered by canvas drapes, and a deep void behind both baskets. Manhattan is a team overloaded with freshman, and their poor record (9-15 overall, 3-11 in the MAAC)could very well be a function of learning how the heck to shoot in their own gym, which many of them are calling home for the first time. Marist freshman Jay Gavin lit up the Jaspers in the first meeting, which Manhattan played on only one day of rest (vs. two for Marist). Now that they know who Gavin is, and Gavin is shooting in this building for the first time, he is unlikely to go off for 23 points. Louie McCroskey played at guard for Marist in the first meeting, but he is now sidelined with an injury. Starting point guard David Devezin has played three consecutive full games for Marist, 125 straight minutes, a dangerous thing for a team to be flirting with at this point of the season.

Manhattan's tallest player, 6-9, 215 Lawrence Jolicouer, scored 17 points in only 16 minutes in the first meeting coming off the bench. Looks like they have an inside weapon to return to in this particular match-up. Meantime, since Manhattan can and will play 10 players, they have a lot of fouls to give against a depth-shy Marist team shooting only 64.6% from the free-throw line.

MANHATTAN, 74-67
