Detroit Red Wings -1.5

The Detroit Red Wings enter into this home tilt against the Columbus Blue Jackets in struggling form , as is evident by having lost a season high 4 straight games. The Wings have ,however, been strong on home ice this season, converting on 21 of 29 home games this season, and will be primed to bring home the cash against a Blue Jackets team that is playing some ugly hockey of their own, losing 3 straight, and 7 of their L/8 overall. Needless to say, both teams are desperate for wins, but only one of these teams will get that victory, and that is the superior home team. Final notes & Key Trends: Detroit is 25-4 ATS in home games off a road loss against a division rival since 1996 , which happened last time out in a 7-2 loss to Chicago. Play on Motown -1.5 puckline

Columbia @ Dartmouth u126.0

Both the Columbia Lions and Dartmouth Big Green have been great Under teams this season, and do not expect that to change when they face off at Dartmouth tonight.

Columbia is coming off of an easy Under in a 58-53 win over Princeton last Saturday, bringing the Under to 8-2 in all Lions games that have had a posted total this season including 5-1 in all Ivy League games. Furthermore, the last five head-to-head meetings between these clubs here in New Hampshire have averaged just a combined 115.4 points.

The Under is also 9-3 in all Dartmouth games that have had a posted total, including 6-1 in their last seven lined games. Granted, the lone Over came last Saturday when they inexplicably allowed 97 points to Yale, but we think that was just an aberration, as they are still allowing 66.4 points per game at home overall and they allowed just 56 points in their lone home conference game so far.

We look for this game to top out at 120 points or so, with a result closer to 115 more likely.

CBB Free Pick: Columbia, Dartmouth Under 126

Washington Capitals @ Florida Panthers u5.5

The Washington Capitals and Florida Panthers have tended to go Under whenever they have met in the Sunshine State, and we look for that to continue tonight.

Somewhat amazingly, the Under is 19-7-2 in the last 18 head-to-head meetings in Florida, including 2-0 this season when both meetings here resulted in 2-1 finals. The Capitals are actually playing some defense now as they attempt to earn a playoff spot, as they have allowed three goals or less in six consecutive games.

Now the Panthers have been a bit more generous lately, allowing 3.00 goals per game in the last five contests. However, they did play well in a 2-1 overtime loss vs. Montreal on Wednesday, and they too are in the playoff hunt, so they may clamp down defensively out of necessity if not for any other reason. They have not been horrendous at home this season, allowing 2.82 goals per game.

We will look for history to repeat tonight, with another Under between these clubs on this rink.

NHL Free Pick: Capitals, Panthers Under 5.5

Pittsburgh +5.0

We’ve actually got a game going Friday night that means something, and that’s normally hard to come by when college hoops gets into conference play. Both Pittsburgh and Marquette are jockeying for position within the crowded Big East, and the winner of this match-up will secure their 8th conference win. The Panthers invade freezing cold Milwaukee sporting an overall mark of 19-5. Of those 19 wins, only five have come on the road with four defeats. Marquette has also won their fair share of games this season, and come into tonight’s game with a respectable 17-6 SU mark. They’ve secured victories in 12 of their 13 home games this year, but lost the last time on their court to Louisville by a 71-57 count. They’ve also only managed a 3-5 ATS mark in their eight lined games in this venue.

Pitt was last in action on Tuesday night when they knocked off the Providence Friars by an 82-63 final count, and easily covered the 8.5-point spread in the process. The win was their second in a row, and 7th in their L/10 overall. Their last road game saw them drop a 60-53 decision in Storrs against the UCONN Huskies. The heart and soul of this club (Levance Fields) returns tonight after a six week hiatus, but one has to question how much of an impact he’ll have in this spot after riding the pine allowing his foot to heal.

Marquette picked up a victory their last time out at Seton Hall where the upended the Pirates by an 89-64 final count ultimately covering the 4-point spread. The win snapped a 2-game losing streak that saw them lose a 3-point decision at Notre Dame and suffer their first home loss as mentioned earlier against Louisville. Still, Head Coach Tom Crean’s club has secured victories in 6 of their L/10 overall, and in 4 of their L/5 home games.

Oddsmakers tagged the Golden Eagles 4-point home chalks with the ‘Total’ set at 137. Overnight bettors expect Marquette to get the best of the Panthers this evening regardless of Fields return since overnight action has seen the betting line increase to 5-points, with the ‘total’ hovering in the 136-137 range. Marquette has dominated this series since it began winning 4 of the 6 match-ups SU and covered the spread in 5 of those 6 contests as well. They won both regular season meetings with the Panthers last year, but Pitt got them when it mattered most by picking up an 89-79 decision in the Big East Tournament.

Will Levance Fields reintroduction to the court find the Panthers pick right back up to where they were when he broke his foot, or will Marquette continue to own them in the regular season? Tune to ESPN at 9:00 ET to find out!!!

John Ryan

Brown vs. Pennsylvania
Play: Brown

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Brown – AiS shows a 73% probability that Brown will win this game by 4 or more points. AiS also shows an 82% probability that Brown will hit a minimum of 38% from 3-point land. Note that Penn is 0-10 ATS when their opponents make 38% to 45% of their 3 pointers in a game over the last 2 seasons. Supporting this graded play is a system that has gone 88-44 ATS for 67% since 2002. Play on road favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points after 1 or more consecutive wins and playing with 5 or 6 days rest. Take Brown.

Stevie Y

Pittsburgh vs. Marquette
Play:Marquette

Stevie Y's key to tonight's Golden Eagles/Pitt Panthers battle is the huge guard match-up advantage for Marquette. Looking at the "Man" Jerel McNeal, he will be ready to make a statement on a rare Friday National Tv "Big East" game. Pitt playmaker LeVance Field is expected to play but Marquette will run early & often on their home floor. We know that the boards go to the Pitt Panthers & they will hang around for while, But OUR $$$ IS ON THE EAGLES

OC DOOLEY

“1 UNIT” NATIONAL TV INTANGIBLE (Marquette -4 at home versus Pittsburgh in a 9:05 eastern tipoff on ESPN):

The intangible surrounds the fact that Marquette at halftime will be honoring their 2002-2003 contingent that went on the way to the NCAA Final Four. One of the players on that team was Dwayne Wade who will appear via a taped message, but the bottom line is that there will be some positive karma in the building. More important is the fact that Pittsburgh is NOT playing on their own home floor where they have gone a dominating 14-1 this season. To put into proper perspective just how solid a homecourt advantage that Pittsburgh has, they have won at a phenominal all-time clip pf 94-9 at a facility known as the Petersen Events Center. Since the Panthers are the visitor this evening, there is a good reason why this injury-riddled squad that has lost several starters for the season, has been cast as a relatively large underdog. We have the matter of REVENGE to talk about as Marquette was eliminated in the quarterfinals of last year’s Big East postseason tournament by none other than Pittsburgh. The next thing to consider is SCHEDULE, as Marquette is in the midst of a 6-game stretch where 4 of those contests are on the road, so they must take advantage of what is now a rare date in front of their own fans. It was not all that long ago when Marquette was buring the wallet’s of bettors by going 1-6 ATS in a recent seven-game stretch, but that has all turned around as they enter tonight having successfully COVERED the spread at a 3-1 clip. My database research indicates that Marquette handles prosperity well, as they are a solid 17-6 ATS the past three years after going 2-1 ATS in the prior three games. Bingo!

Tony Karpinski

Dallas Stars vs. Anaheim Ducks

NHL Hockey Game of the Year
Pick: Dallas Stars

NHL GAME of the YEAR: DALLAS STARS +145 After extending their winning streak to five games, the Anaheim Ducks may not have wanted their team-record nine-game road trip to come to an end. They open a season-high seven-game homestand on Friday night against the Pacific Division-leading Dallas Stars, who are coming off a rare loss last night where they played very poorly. Jean-Sebastian Giguere, hasn't fared well against them in all five meetings this season against Dallas, getting pulled in two and going 1-4-0 with a 3.64 GAA. Dallas is looking to rebound from a 5-2 loss at Phoenix on Thursday after opening the home-and-home set with a 2-1 victory on Monday to equal its franchise-record seven-game winning streak. "We need to compete at a higher level," Stars center Mike Modano said after the game last night and Dallas always plays well on the road in the underdog roll. Brenden Morrow has been a force in helping the Stars go 10-2-0 over the last 12 games. The left wing has eight goals and four assists in that span, giving him a team-leading 24 goals and 55 points, which rank him second on the club behind Mike Ribeiro (64). Anaheim returns home after a very long 9 game road trip and Dallas is coming off a terrible performance last night. Dallas has already taken 4 of 5 from Anaheim and will get a big win tonight as a +145 underdog. PLAY THE DALLAS STARS**

LAS VEGAS TECH REPORT

Play: FRIDAY NIGHT BLOW OUT: CORNELL -5

Cornell is 6-0, in the Ivy league and dominating the conference. They have shown no letdown on the road winning by 18,11 and 12 points. Harvard has lost 5 consecutive and is on a downward spiral. They were crushed last Friday night and don't show any signs of having anthing in the tank to hang with Ivy League leader Cornell. In the Ivy league, the road team is 6-0 ATS in Cornell games. Make that 7-0 tonight as Cornell pputs a beatdown on Harvard

Lock Of The Day

PITT/MARQUETTE UNDER 137

Both of these teams play decent defense and Pitt will turn this into a banging Big East game. Marquette, Dominic James especially, has really been struggling with shooting this season - including beyond the arc. This one goes under.
