Tips and Trends

Los Angeles Lakers at Orlando Magic

Lakers: The Lakers are on the cusp of winning their 15th championship in franchise history up 3-1. No team in 29 previous tries has won the title after being down 3-1 in the finals. The Lakers haven’t lost three games in a row since they acquired Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies on Feb. 1, 2008. Kobe Bryant continues to be unstoppable averaging 30.2 points in the series. Los Angeles is 24-8-2 (75 percent) ATS in its last 34 games as a road underdog. The Lakers have won five of their last six games in Orlando. The Lakers have exploited the rustiness of Magic point guard Jameer Nelson, who scored just two points with three assists and one turnover in nearly 26 minutes of action during Orlando’s Thursday’s 99-91 overtime loss. The Lakers may hold a psychological edge after coming from a 12-point halftime deficit to pull out the victory.

The Under has cashed in 10 of the Lakers’ past 13 games.
The Under has cashed in 8 of the Lakers’ last 9 games versus Eastern Conference competition.

Key Injuries - None.

PROJECTED SCORE: 98

Magic (-3, O/U 198.5): Down 3-1, the Magic very well could be up 3-1. But can the Magic respond from a devastating home loss in Game 4? They’ll have to shoot better than 22-of-37 (59 percent) from the foul line. The Magic will have to cut down on 19 turnovers, too. Orlando has shown resilience winning a Game 7 in Boston, upsetting LeBron James’ Cavaliers and taking Game 3 in this series after losing the first two. The Magic are 38-15 (71 percent) in their last 53 games following a straight-up defeat. Since scoring only 75 points in Game 1, the Magic are averaging 98.3 points and have lost two overtime contests. Dwight Howard has stepped up his game, but Rashard Lewis needs to get more involved after making just two-of-10 shots from the floor on Thursday and Magic coach Stan Van Gundy needs to settle on Rafer Alston as his main point guard.

The Under has cashed 7 of the past 10 times Orlando has been a favorite.
The favorite is 1-8 ATS in the last nine meetings between these two clubs.

Key Injuries - None.

PROJECTED SCORE: 101 (OVER - Total of the Day)
