Kansas Big Road Faves
By Brobury Sports

The Kansas Jayhawks are back to No. 1, and they’re big road favorites Wednesday night at the Colorado Buffaloes.

Kansas is a 13½-point ‘chalk’ at BroburySports. The game is on ESPN2 at 9 pm ET. No. 22 Pittsburgh (+8½) at No. 6 West Virginia is another great game.

Kansas (20-1 SU, 9-8-1 ATS) held the top ranking from the preseason all the way through the New Year. However, a Jan. 10 loss at Tennessee (76-68) dropped them down temporarily.

The Jayhawks have won six games in a row since (3-2-1 ATS), including a tough 81-79 overtime win at Kansas State on Saturday. Five Kansas’ players scored in double-digits, and guard Sherron Collins came through big when it mattered most.

Kansas knows that teams are gunning for them every night, but they have the horses to get it done. Collins is joined by Brady Morningstar in the backcourt, with Tyshawn Taylor coming off the bench.

Few teams can match up with big guys Cole Aldrich and Marcus Morris. The only down note is that freshman Xavier Henry is really struggling shooting, averaging 6.3 PPG in the last three games. He also hasn’t made more than four baskets in a game since before Christmas!

The team can compensate for Henry right now, but he needs to be a lot better come tournament time.

Colorado ‘covering’ in the Big 12

Colorado (11-10 SU, 8-8-1 ATS) is 2-5 straight-up in the Big 12, but an impressive 5-1-1 ATS. The Buffaloes are 10-1 SU at home overall and 4-2-1 ATS.

In the Big 12 at home, they beat Nebraska (72-60), plus a very good Baylor team (78-71) that gave Kansas trouble. The only home loss for Colorado this season was to K-State (an 87-81 push).

Colorado is seventh in the league in scoring (75.8 PPG). Junior guard Cory Higgins (18.3 PPG) and freshman Alec Burks (16.3 PPG) are the two main offensive players. However, Burks is a game-time decision with a knee sprain.

The problem with Colorado is they give up a lot of points (71.9 PPG) and they have the worst rebounding margin in the Big 12. That’s a big problem against the Kansas frontline.

The away team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings between the teams. The ‘under’ is 8-0 in the last eight meetings in Colorado.
