Southern Miss/USF
A stretch to compare CUSA with the Big East but they do have Memphis which S.Miss lost twice last year..however by an average of only 4.5 points..(7 on the road and 2 at home) Out of the gate road wins are hard to come by but I'll side the more experienced..good FT shooting squad with a better balance of weapons..topped off by an extremely sound defense..

S. Miss +2

Winthrop/VCU

While Winthrop has ruled the Big South they just aren't the quality team of 2007 and 2008..Losing 14 games last year... (9 of those by double digits..)
More worrisome is the loss of their inside game... If one is to lay 10+ early on with VCU this is the type situation you should look for...While the loss of Sanders to the NBA will present problems, it will be against opponents with strong games in the paint..(Not the case facing Winthrop) A trio of vet guards combined with the ever present defense along with 6'9 Skeen will present major probs for the outgunned Winthrop 5...

VCU -10..10.5

Miami/Memphis

The achilles heel of Miami last year esp on the road was the inability to put the ball in the basket..I don't see where they have improved much in that area..even without Kendrick the home court is huge..

A full play

530 Memphis (H1) -3½ -110
