March Madness Odds Breakdown – Kansas Favored to win Title
The Kansas Jayhawks are the favorite to win March Madness, but Kentucky and Syracuse are close behind. Here are the updated odds from BroburySports.com.
Kansas Jayhawks (+200)
Kansas started the season as the heavy No. 1 and they’ve done nothing to disappoint, going 29-2. This team is equally strong in the backcourt and down low, and players like Cole Aldrich and Sherron Collins already have a championship ring. Watch out for the Jayhawks.
Kentucky Wildcats (+350)
Kentucky has been great all year as well, led by freshman phenom John Wall. Wall leads one of the best freshman classes in NCAA history, along with DeMarcus Cousins and Eric Bledsoe. These guys won’t be intimidated by the bright lights of the Big Dance, but these odds still seem a bit overvalued.
Syracuse Orange (+350)
The Orange have come out of nowhere this year with their zone defense and balanced seven-man rotation. Forward Wesley Johnson has been the star all year, but he’s had some problems down the stretch. The Orange can’t win the title without him on his ‘A’ game.
Ohio State Buckeyes (+1200)
While Wesley Johnson has struggled for Syracuse, Evan Turner continues to play like a Player of the Year candidate. Turner’s supporting cast doesn’t look championship caliber on paper, but past stars like Kansas’ Danny Manning and Syracuse’s Carmelo Anthony have almost single-handily won titles.
Purdue Boilermakers (+1200)
Purdue lost forward Robbie Hummel for the season with a torn ACL. That was a dramatic blow as he combined with E’Twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson for one of the best trios in college hoops. The Boilers are not going to fold without Hummel, but it’s hard to imagine them making the Elite Eight, let alone win a title. These odds are way overvalued.
