Mavs, Lakers Square Off

The Dallas Mavericks get a chance to prove that they are among the Western Conference elite as they host the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night in a NBA betting game that can be seen on ESPN. The Mavericks look a lot better now that they have Caron Butler but whether he is enough to get them to the level of the Lakers is still very much in question.

Mavericks are a one-point favorite at SBG Global.

The Mavericks in past seasons were all about Dirk Nowitzki. They either won or lost based on how he played. That is not as much the case now that the Mavericks have a player like Butler who can also score. "It's huge," Jason Terry said, "I think that's where our problem has been. You get to the fourth quarter, and they hone in pretty much on me and Dirk and we got to jack up a shot. Now, you know you swing it and Caron not only is going to make the shot, but he's going to make the right play."

Dallas comes into this game having won their last four NBA betting games. Butler is still struggling somewhat to get accustomed to the Dallas offense so it is too early to tell how good the Mavericks will be with him in the lineup. While Dallas has won four straight, everyone is very curious how they will do against Los Angeles. "It's a little more significant and special," Butler said. "You just want to go out and perform at a high level. It's definitely a measuring stick. You want to see where you're at and hopefully we can go out there, play consistently and get a win. If not, you see what you need to work on to get to that point, but there's still a lot of season left so we've got time."

The Lakers got Kobe Bryant back on Tuesday in their NBA betting game against the Grizzlies. It is a tough back-to-back for the Lakers though and it will be interesting to see if Kobe is at full strength and ready to play on consecutive nights. The Lakers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games. The Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on no rest. The Lakers are 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings in Dallas.

The Mavericks are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games overall. The Mavericks are 6-22 ATS in their last 28 home games.

The ‘under’ is 5-0 in the Lakers last five overall. The ‘over’ is 8-3 in the Mavericks last 11 home games.
