Duke

NCAA NIT

Virginia Tech (-7') for 2 Units
UAB/Virginia Tech 9:00: V Tech closed strong down the season stretch nearly capturing a bid to the NCAATourney; as a result of missing the Big Dance, Tech played with a chip on its shoulder by blowing out MorganState in the opening round of this NIT. Subsequently, we should see the Hokies continue to add to its 8-0 ATSrun here. Tech is tough on its home floor - allowing just 59.4 ppg, control the boards at +7 rebound margin, and limit turnovers (+2 turnover margin). And the Hokies play the favorite role well (12-3 ATS), and do a nicejob in tourney action (5-1 ATS). UAB, on the other hand, has been lax defensively onthe road (allow 72 ppg)and hasn't exhibited a great deal of strength in tournament action (2-8 ATS). UABjumped on a distraught VCU(upset in CAA Conference Tourney) team that expected to go the Big Dance, butshould have trouble gettinginto rhythm here.

NBA

Denver Under (231') for 2 Units
Denver/Memphis 8:00: As pathetic as both of these defenses are, this series has surprisingly gone 1-4 O/U inits last 5 matchups. Tonight, we believe a slight overlay has occurred again. This series has averaged 215over its last 7 meetings; throw out a 251 point in mid-April last season, and that average drops to 209. Theinconsistent Grizzlies, which are coming off a few high scoring affairs, sport a 7-14 O/U mark after scoring105+, and are 12-20 O/U vs good offensive teams (those averaging 99+ ppg).Interestingly enough, theGrizzlies are 4-9 O/U vs the NBA Northwest Division while the Nuggets are 5-15 O/U vs the NBA SouthwestDivision. Denver, which is in the playoff hunt, finally got a good defensive effort atToronto Sunday when theyheld Toronto to just 100 points. With the understanding that defense will be vital inplayoff time, we'll look forDenver to make a concerted effort on the defensive end tonight to keep the Grizzlies' offense from lighting upthe scoreboard.

Teddy June’s College Basketball NIT Game of the Day (6-0 100% Last 6 Selections)

My 10* College Basketball NIT Game of the Day is the Ohio State Buckeyes minus the points over the California Golden Bears. Round 2 of the NIT here and we have 17-15 SU California taking the trip across the country to face 20-13 SU Ohio State. The Golden Bears opened the tournament with a 2 point win over New Mexico as 3.5 point chalk and the Buckeyes opened it with an 18 point win over NC Asheville as 14.5 point chalk. That win marked the Buckeyes 4th straight ATS win over a non-conference foe and today I expect they get the job done over a Bears team that simply does not play any defensive particularly on the road. Keep in mind the Bears rank 308th nationally this year in points allowed at 75.2, 229th in the nation in FG% allowed at 44.7 and 218th in the nation in 3PT% allowed at 35.7. Meanwhile the Buckeyes have been a strong defensive team ranking in the top 25 in points allowed, FG% against and 3PT% against as well. I expect Matta will have his boys ready for this one as he looks to continue to build with this young group for next year. I currently have this line at -7.5 and have this rated at 10* up to -9. My 10* College Basketball NIT Game of the Day is the Ohio State Buckeyes minus the points. As always, Good Luck, Let’s make some money.

Lakers -1 for the First Half Only (POD)

No team likes getting spanked like the Lakers did at home in the first half and although they came back for a spirited effort in the second half, they fell short. I feel that this team keeps that spirit alive in this game today and starts off this game much better than the first half of their last game. I would love to take the Lakers for the game but I do not want to give Golden State a chance to come back here at home and will take the Lakers to avoid that ridiculously pathetic start at home (although I did have the warriors ML and glad they covered) and they start sharp in the first half and likely the game. I like the Lakers here to hang tough and play very hard in the first half, avoid the first half in their home just the other day when they were embarassed on tv and get revenge here. Lakers for just the first half. This will not count for my records because top10 doesn't offer first half side betting yet, but that's ok, this is still my POD and I want to offer the best winning plays as I can think of to my clients and this is the best one I have for today.

Memphis +7.5

I was really hoping that this would go up to +8 by the time I finished my research but to no avail. You probably could wait by late this afternoon and get it at +8 so keep that in my mind. I nearly made this a first half play, but I'll take Memphis for the game. Memphis has covered their last 5 ballgames, including beating Sacramento at home and New York on the road, they went on this run after losing by 22 points to Denver on the road and the next game they nearly beat Golden State outright after losing by just 3 points as 16 point chalks on the road and have covered a total of 5 games. Now, this team has come full circle to play this Denver team at home and I believe that this is one of the biggest public plays today as 70%+ is riding Denver and this will be a tough cover for them as Memphis hangs tough today at home with sharp shooting from Miller, Gay and Warrick.

California +8

This is the only college play that I liked today. The line is fairly high considering that this is likely to be a relatively tough defenisve effort from both teams. Cal did win at home recently but they weren't overly impressive and in fact, did not cover the -2 or -3 home line, but this is the same team that lost by 4 to USC on the road and just 1 to UCLA on the road. Cal also beat Washington State on the road and although Ohio State is a competent team, I'll take the Pac-10 team here to hang tough on the road, as any team that can can hang with the best the PAC-10 has to offer on the road, is a team that I am willing to give a chance with 8 points on the road today. I typically do not take dogs until they are 7.5 or higher and I like the 8 today as I think Cal is as live a dog as any today as Ohio State will have tougher time in Cal as they are a far cry from NC Ashville. The Bears are 5-1 ATS on the road against teams with a winning % of 60% or more, meaning that they show up against the better teams in the league.
