Calgary Flames -140

The Calgary Flames(30-14-4) enter into this contest against their hosts the Colorado Avalanche (23-26-1) on a red hot 14-3-1 , thanks in part of the play of their goaltender Mikka Kiprusoff, who has started in 17 of those tilts, notching a 14-2-1 record during that span along with a stellar 2.56 GAA. The native of Turku, Finlands current form and his recent successes that have seen his Flames go 7-1-1 with a 1.57 GAA and two shutouts in his last nine starts in this series , make the visitors the right side again in this spot. It must be noted that these teams have played 5 times this season, with Calgary winning 4 of those contests. The only loss for the Flames came by a 6-2 count when, back up netminder Curtis McIlhinney started between the pipes.

Final notes & Key Trends: Colorado has lost 7 of their L/8 overall and have been on the wrong side of the score sheet in 5 of their L/6 home games.

Play on Calgary - (We are not getting much value here, so lets makes this a minimal/conservative wager)

Complimentary Selection - Jeff Benton

Nice free-play winner with the Cavaliers over the Pistons on Sunday. For Monday’s freebie, we’ll head to the NBA and lay the big points with the Miami Heat.

You know the Clippers are completely dreadful when I’m laying double digits with a Miami squad that A) has lost two straight games to the Pacers (road) and Mavericks (home) by 11 and 15 points, respectively; and B) is 1-4 ATS as a big favorite this year (eight points or more).

Well, here’s what the Clippers have done lately: five straight double-digit losses, and we’re talking margins of 15, 25, 20, 17 and 12 points against the likes of the Warriors, Blazers, Bulls, Cavaliers and Wizards. Los Angeles failed to cover in all five games while averaging 88.8 points per contest (40.8 percent shooting percentage) and allowing 106.6 ppg (48.8 percent shooting).

There’s more: The Clippers have lost 19 of their last 21 games, with nine of the last 11 defeats being by double digits, including five consecutive lopsided SU and ATS road losses (Washington, Cleveland, Golden State, New Orleans and San Antonio) by an average of 18.6 ppg. Really, dreadful isn’t a strong enough verb to describe Mike Dunleavy’s squad.

In a nutshell, this is the perfect opponent for Miami to get back on track. As it is, the Heat are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games after a double-digit home loss and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games against the Pacific Division. They’re also in a legit revenge spot, having lost consecutive one-point decisions to the Clippers, including a 97-96 setback on Nov. 19.

Yes, the Clippers got Marcus Camby and Baron Davis last week, but neither has logged many minutes or played very well when on the court. Also, L.A. is still without prolific scorer Zac Randolph. When you consider that that trio contributed 54 points, 15 assists and 30 rebounds in the November win over Miami, that’s pretty significant. Lay the points.

(based on a 1 to a 10 ♦ Rating)

3♦ MIAMI HEAT

Pregame.com total play of the day

Blazers: Portland brings a four-game winning streak into New Orleans following a 122-108 win over Utah on Saturday. The Blazers have won those four games by an average of 16.5 points and have not trailed by more than five points in any of them. “I’m happy that we controlled the game from the tip - we were probably the more physical and active team,” Portland leading scorer Brandon Roy said after beating the Jazz. “It felt good to beat them soundly. It didn’t come down to the last 4 minutes. We played well the entire game.”

PROJECTED SCORE: 89 (UNDER - Total Play of the Day)

The UNDER is 9-0 in Portland's last 9 games as an underdog.

Hornets (-4, O/U 187): New Orleans will try to avoid losing three straight for the first time this season after falling to San Antonio on Saturday, 106-93. The Hornets got 38 points from point guard Chris Paul but committed 14 turnovers to suffer their second loss in as many nights. “We sort of got frustrated a little bit and said ‘darn’ and got two techs,” Paul said. “I’m serious, I said ‘darn.’ I mean, I guess that’s not what you should say.” New Orleans has won two of the three meetings with Portland so far this season.

PROJECTED SCORE: 93

The UNDER is 10-2 in New Orleans' last 12 home games.

BE CAREFUL THE NUMBER HAS MOVED FROM 187 TO 184 ALREADY SO PERHAPS THIS PLAY IS NO GOOD
