NBA ATS Countdown
by: Cajun Sports
Every two weeks we take a look at the NBA’s Top Five Teams against the spread and possible key situations for you to watch for in hopes they will put you on a winner. We have lost a member from our last ATS Countdown as Milwaukee fell from third place out of the top five to sixth overall. The Bucks posted a record of 2-6 ATS and allowed the Boston Celtics to sneak into this edition of our NBA Countdown. Take a look
Our number one team from our last countdown was able to hang onto that title by going 3-2 ATS. The Orlando Magic are currently 30-14 ATS this season overall but they also hold the number one ranking on the road with a record of 17-6 ATS. Last week we mentioned that the Magic were solid in the role of road underdog and they continue to lead the way with a 9-1 ATS record, in fact their last three ATS wins all came in this situation. Orlando is averaging 103.4 points per game on the road while only allowing opponents to score 97.3. A key situation for the Magic is when they are facing opponents from the Western Conference they are 18-4 ATS for 81.8 percent winners.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are still the number two team in our countdown but their 3-4 ATS mark could be a sign of trouble for Cavalier backers as we move forward. They are 29-14 ATS overall on the year and home is still their strength both SU and ATS as they hold the number one ranking at home with a record of 16-5 ATS. The problem for the Cavs comes when they take to the highway as their record reflects a 13-9 ATS record but that is only good for 10th place on the road. Two key situations for the Cavs are when they are playing off a straight up loss, 8-0 ATS in that situation and 8-0 ATS when facing the Atlantic Division.
In third place we have the Oklahoma City Thunder as they move up a spot from fourth by going 4-2 ATS since our last countdown report. The Thunder are 29-16-1 ATS on the year overall with their 15-6 ATS road record which is good for 2nd place overall on the highway as their strength. OKC is currently in sixth place at home with a record of 14-10-1 ATS, not bad but the best time to back this Thunder team is still when playing on the road. The Thunder have a key situation to watch for its when they are playing with two days’ rest, they are 7-1 against the number for 87.5 percent winners.
The Number Four spot is occupied by our best ATS performer since our last countdown; the Charlotte Bobcats have posted a record of 6-1 ATS since our last report. They are currently 28-18 ATS overall on the season including 15-11 ATS when playing at home and a solid 13-7 ATS when they hit the highway. A key situation for the Bobcats is when they are playing with two days’ rest going 7-2 ATS for 77.8 percent winners.
The fifth and final spot in our countdown is occupied by newcomer the Boston Celtics. The reigning NBA Champs were able to knock the Bucks out of our countdown with a 27-20 ATS record while the Bucks two pushes cemented their fate as they are 27-20-2 ATS on the year. When we examine the Celtics ATS record we see that home is where their heart is or should we say where the cash is because they are 16-9 ATS on their home floor but only .500 on the road with an 11-11 ATS mark. Besides their home floor they have a key situation when they are playing on two days’ rest, they are 7-2 against the spread in this situation which is good for 77.8 percent winners.
That concludes another edition of our NBA ATS Countdown we hope that you find this information useful and as always good luck.
