NBA ATS Countdown
Cajun Sports

Welcome to our NBA ATS Countdown Issue 2 for the 2010-11 NBA Season. The Countdown takes a look at the league ' s top five teams against the spread. In most issues we not only look at ATS situations for the NBA ' s top five ATS teams we also provide a key angle for each team. Here are the league ' s top five take a look.

Atlanta Hawks continue to hold the number one position in our Countdown with an overall ATS mark of 32-19 ATS for 62.7 percent winners. The Hawks have used their dominance at home where they also lead the league with an 18-9 ATS record on their home floor. The road has not been as kind to the Hawks they were ranked fourth in the league in our last Countdown on the road and have now fallen to number ten but they are still making their backers money with a 14-10 ATS record for 58.3 percent winners away from home. Atlanta has been very strong in the role of favorite posting a record of 25-14 ATS for 64.1 percent winners and 12-5 ATS 70.6 percent coming off a straight up loss in their last game. Key Angle: Atlanta is 10-2 ATS (83.3%) when facing teams from the Atlantic Division. We used this same angle as our key angle for Atlanta in the last issue of the Countdown because it provided us with yet another winner.

Oklahoma City Thunder take over the number two position in our Countdown as the Charlotte Bobcats have fallen completely out of the top five after holding the number two slot in our last issue. The Thunder were ranked number three in that issue but have moved up a spot with an overall record of 32-19 ATS for 62.7 percent winners. Their overall record is better than 62 percent but it is certainly not because of their ability to cover the spread at home where they are 13-12 ATS ranked thirteenth in the league. The strength of the Thunder comes when playing away from home where they are ranked number one with a record of 19-7 ATS for 73.1 percent winners. If the Thunder are installed as a road underdog they are a terrific 14-5 ATS for 73.7 percent. Oklahoma City has responded well after a straight up loss going 17-4 ATS for 81 percent winners in that situation. Key Angle: Oklahoma City is 17-2 against the spread for 89.5 percent winners after suffering an ATS loss in their last game.

Milwaukee Bucks make their first appearance in our Countdown at number three with an overall record of 31-20 ATS for 60.8 percent winners. In fact the Bucks are the most consistent team in the Countdown as they rank number 5 against the spread both at home and on the road. At home Milwaukee is 15-9 ATS for 62.5 percent and 16-11 ATS on the highway for 59.3 percent winners. The Bucks are 14-7 ATS for 66.7 percent when installed as a favorite and surprisingly they are a perfect 2-0 ATS as a road favorite so far this season. Milwaukee has also responded when playing without rest going 10-3 ATS for 76.9 percent winners this season. Key Angle: Milwaukee is 10-1 ATS (90.9%) when facing teams from the Atlantic Division.

Utah Jazz continues to hold down the fourth position in our Countdown with an overall record of 30-18-3 ATS which translates into 62.5 percent winners. Utah uses solid ATS results at home posting a record of 18-9-2 ATS (66.7%) which is good enough for second place in the league against the spread. The road is quite different for the Jazz as they rank seventeenth in the league with a record of 12-9-1 ATS on the highway for 57.1 percent. Key Angle: Utah Jazz have gone Over at a rate of 26-7 Over as an underdog during the regular season after a game in which they shot at least 50 percent from the field.

Portland Trailblazers hold the final spot in out NBA ATS Countdown with the number five ranking and a record of 30-24-1 ATS for 55.6 percent winners. Portland has really struggled at home against the number with a record of 14-15 ATS and 48.3 percent which is the worst rating of any team in our Countdown. They are a different story on the highway with an ATS mark of 16-9-1 ATS which is good enough for 64 percent winners and second place overall on the road this season. Portland bumped Memphis out of the final spot as the Grizzlies actually held the number five spot in our last issue. We had to use the rest element to find significant ATS situations for the Trailblazers. When Portland plays with no rest they are 10-3 ATS for 76.9 percent winners. When Portland is coming off a road game and their current game is on the road they are a solid 7-1 ATS which translates into 87.5 percent winners. Key Angle: Portland Trailblazers are 19-2-1 Over at home after a game in which they gave up less than 84 points. The games go over by 14.9 points per game and the Blazers allow over 102 points per game in these instances.

NBA ATS Countdown System:

Play AGAINST NBA Western Conference teams at home coming off three straight SU losses to Eastern Conference opponents if they are currently facing another Eastern Conference team. These Western Conference teams have posted a record of 24-46-3 ATS since 1995.
