Friday's Best NBA Bets
By Covers.com

Sacramento Kings at Oklahoma City Thunder (-14, 213)

The Oklahoma City Thunder are in the midst of their worst stretch of the season entering Friday’s home game against the Sacramento Kings.

Oklahoma City is just 2-4 straight up and against the spread over its last six games after losing at home to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. The Thunder hold a one-game lead over the San Antonio Spurs for best record in the Western Conference.

Oklahoma City begins a five-game road trip following the Sacramento contest and the most pivotal factor will be ending the recent slide and having momentum entering the playoffs.

“You’re going to have to win games in the playoffs, no matter who you play,” sixth man James Harden told reporters. “We’re not worried about that. We just want to close these remaining games out and then go from there.”

Sacramento has lost six consecutive games both straight up and against the spread, so maybe the Thunder can get back on track here.

Pick: Thunder

Washington Wizards at New York Knicks (-10.5, 197.5)

After winning a crucial showdown in Milwaukee to solidify their hold on the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, the New York Knicks return home to host the Washington Wizards on Friday night.

New York has won seven of 10 to open a two-game lead over the Bucks and close within one game of Philadelphia for the No. 7 seed.

J.R. Smith drilled a go-ahead 3-pointer with 64 seconds to play in Wednesday’s 111-107 win at Milwaukee. That came two games after he was a miserable 6 of 22 against Chicago, but ignited a comeback with a late 3-pointer. He is averaging 14.7 points off the bench in his last six games.

The Wizards, owners of the second-worst road record in the conference, have lost eight consecutive games to the Knicks, covering the number just once.

The Knicks have covered the last three times they’ve been favored by at least 10 points, but we’re worried about a letdown.

Pick: Over

Friday's NBA Tips
By Kevin Rogers
VegasInsider.com

Bettors search for the lucky break every night when placing a wager, but that hope will be accelerated on Friday the 13th with 12 games on the NBA card. The night wraps up on the West Coast with the Mavericks taking on the Blazers, while the Lakers look to slow down the Nuggets. We'll begin in central Florida with a pair of Southeast Division rivals meeting up with seeding implications on the line.

Hawks at Magic

The Dwight Howard saga continues in Orlando as the disgruntled All-Star center will likely sit out his third straight game with back spasms. Both the Hawks and Magic are tied for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference, but finishing fifth would likely mean a first round matchup with the Celtics. Atlanta has beaten Orlando twice this season as an underdog, including an 89-87 overtime triumph at Amway Center as five-point 'dogs in mid-February. Nine of the last 10 meetings between these teams have finished 'under' the total, while one club has eclipsed the 90-point mark in just one of the previous seven matchups. Both these teams are going in opposite directions from a spread standpoint as the Hawks are 5-1 ATS the last six games, while the Magic owns a 2-6 ATS mark the previous eight contests.

Cavaliers at Pacers

Indiana grabbed an overtime victory in Wednesday's back-and-forth affair at Quicken Loans Arena, while Cleveland managed a cover as nine-point home 'dogs. The two Central Division rivals finish a home-and-home set in Indianapolis, as the Cavs attempt to cash for the sixth straight game. Cleveland is banged up right now with top pick Kyrie Irving on the shelf with a shoulder injury, but the Cavs have covered each of their last four games as seven-point 'dogs or more. The Pacers are rolling with six wins in their past seven contests, but Indiana has failed to cash tickets in each of its last three opportunities as a favorite.

Celtics at Raptors

Boston goes for its fifth consecutive victory after knocking off four playoff teams from the Eastern Conference. Now, the Celtics need to get motivated against a Raptors' team that blew out Boston in their last meeting, 86-74 in early February at the Air Canada Center. The venue is the same this time around, as the Raps try to snap a four-game skid, while losing each of their last two at home to the Cavaliers and 76ers. Boston owns a 2-6 ATS record the last eight opportunities as an away favorite, as the Celtics embark on a four-game road trip that includes stops at New Jersey, Charlotte, and New York.

Nets at 76ers

These two teams met on Tuesday night in New Jersey as the 76ers routed the Nets as six-point favorites, 107-88. Philadelphia looks for its third straight win after drubbing Toronto on Wednesday, while the Sixers have failed to cash in their last three at Wells Fargo Center. The Nets are a profitable 5-3 ATS the previous eight contests, including three covers as road 'dogs. Philadelphia has done its most damage as a favorite of nine points or more this season, posting a 9-2 ATS ledger, but one of those losses came in overtime to New Jersey at home in late January.

Wizards at Knicks

New York has been relentless at home recently by winning and covering eight straight games at Madison Square Garden. Seven of those victories came by at least nine points, including blowouts over the Pistons, Cavs, and Raptors as 8½-point 'chalk' or more. The Wizards look for their first three-game winning streak of the season after knocking off the Bobcats and Magic, while trying to beat the Knicks for the first time in three tries. Washington was riding a seven-game 'under' streak on the road, but the Wizards have cashed the 'over' in each of its last three away from the Verizon Center.

Bobcats at Heat

This will be a very difficult game for Miami to get up for after playing at Chicago on Thursday night. The Heat is laying 16 points against the woeful Bobcats, while suffering just their fourth loss in 28 games at the American Airlines Arena. Miami is average in the role of a double-digit favorite this season at 7-7 ATS, while Charlotte owns a 10-12 ATS record when receiving at least 10 points. The Bobcats have lost seven straight games in this series, but managed covers three times in the role of a double-digit 'dog.

Suns at Rockets

Houston returned home from a perfect 4-0 SU/ATS road trip only to be silenced by Utah on Wednesday, 103-91 as six-point 'chalk.' The Rockets welcome in a Suns' team who stubbed their toe in an 11-point defeat at Memphis, only their second loss in the last seven games. Phoenix has put together a 7-1 ATS record following a non-cover in the previous eight opportunities, while the Suns go for the series split with a victory on Friday. The Rockets took two of the first three matchups, as all three meetings finished 'under' the total.

Kings at Thunder

Oklahoma City has hit a speed bump following a tremendous start by losing three of its past five contests, as the Thunder welcome in the stumbling Kings. Sacramento hasn't won a game since April 2, dropping six consecutive games both SU and ATS, while falling at under-manned New Orleans on Wednesday. The Kings are just 1-9 ATS the last 10 games as an underdog, but Sacramento did upset OKC on February 9 as 6½-point home 'dogs, 106-101. Oklahoma City is 11-4 ATS off a defeat, but owns a 5-7 ATS mark when laying at least 10 points this season.

Bucks at Pistons

Milwaukee is definitely a bully when it takes on lesser competition, winning 13 consecutive games against teams that are currently below the .500 mark. The Pistons fit that bill as Detroit returns home following Thursday's matchup at Charlotte, while Lawrence Frank's team goes for the season split with the Bucks. Milwaukee grabbed the first two meetings in this series at home, but the Pistons won at the Palace as 4 ½-point 'dogs in early February. The Pistons are riding a 9-2-1 ATS run the last 12 games in the home 'dog role, while winning seven of their last eight contests in Auburn Hills.

Jazz at Hornets

New Orleans has covered six consecutive games in the Big Easy, including the first ATS win as a favorite this season over Sacramento (0-8 ATS prior). The Hornets host the former team to reside in New Orleans as the Jazz comes to town. Utah knocked off Houston, the fourth win in the last six contests for Tyrone Corbin’s squad, as the Jazz sits 1 ½ games out of eighth in the Western Conference. New Orleans is playing without its starting backcourt of Jarrett Jack and Eric Gordon, but the Hornets are thriving by putting together a 9-3 ATS record the last 12 games.

Mavericks at Blazers

Portland has suffered through injuries, trades, and coaching changes this season, while most recently losing All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge to season-ending hip surgery. The Blazers wrap up a three-game homestand following Wednesday’s shootout victory over the Warriors as four-point favorites. The Mavericks invade the Rose Garden with no rest, as Dallas and Portland have battled into overtime in each of the first two meetings with each team winning once. Rick Carlisle’s club owns a dominant 7-1 SU/ATS record on a back-to-back against teams with one day of rest, while trying to improve on a 1-4 SU and 2-2-1 ATS mark the last five visits to Portland.

Nuggets at Lakers

Los Angeles returns home following an impressive victory as 10-point underdogs at San Antonio on Wednesday without Kobe Bryant. The Lakers’ star missed his third straight game with a shin injury, as Bryant hopes to return on Friday. The Nuggets head to Staples Center coming off wins in five of the last seven contests, while holding off the banged-up Wolves on Wednesday. L.A. hasn’t helped bettors with a 3-13 ATS mark the last 16 games overall and 0-11 ATS the previous 11 opportunities as a home favorite.

Celtics weekend on the road April 13-15

Nothing seems to stop the charging Boston Celtics lately. Coming off an emotional eight point win over Miami on Tuesday the Celtic's without much shut-eye followed up with an overtime win over rested Hawks on Wednesday. Boston atop the Atlantic Division with a 34-24 record (29-27-2 ATS) take a huge drop in class this weekend as they visit Raptors on Friday, Nets on Saturday and Bobcats Sunday.

Gruelling road swing, but C's are 17-3 (14-5-1 ATS) vs Raptors including 7-2 SU/ATS playing north of the border. Boston is also 17-3 (12-8 ATS) it's last twenty vs Nets and 9-1 (6-3 ATS) running the hardwood in New Jersey's back yard. As for Bobcats, the Celtics own a 14-6 mark last twenty meetings but are just 7-13 against-the-spread including 5-5 ATS playing in Charlotte.

Celtics should prevail against each of these bottom feeding teams but it will be interesting to see how they handle things against-the-oddsmaker as the betting lines should favor Boston in each series. Celtics' have not faired well as road favorite posting a 4-7 ATS record this season, 9-20 ATS last twenty-nine as road chalk including ATS losses vs Raptors, Nets and two against Bobcats. Also of interest, Celtics have failed to cash last two playing without rest vs Nets. Last time Celtic's played back-2-back-2-back was in January and they fell 88-87 as -6.5 home favorite to lowly Cavaliers.
