Friday's Tip Sheet
By Kevin Rogers
VegasInsider.com

Home favorites dominated on Thursday night by posting a 4-1 SU/ATS record. The only road team to win (and cover) was Chicago, who picked up its second consecutive victory on its annual “Circus Trip” by beating Utah, 85-77 as 2½-point underdogs. The UNDER went 3-2 on Thursday, one night after the OVER cashed in six of 11 games.

Game of the Night – Spurs (-6½, 207½) at Lakers

Only two teams have yet to lose on the road this season, the Clippers and Spurs. San Antonio held off Sacramento on Wednesday, 110-105 as 5½-point favorites to improve to 6-0 away from AT&T Center. Pau Gasol scored a season-high 24 points for the Spurs, while Sacramento outscored San Antonio by eight points in the fourth quarter to pick up the backdoor cover. San Antonio owns a two-game lead over Houston in the Southwest at 9-3, while winning five straight meetings with the Lakers.

Los Angeles has made terrific strides since last season, compiling an early 7-5 record under new head coach Luke Walton. The Lakers won their seventh game last season on January 1 against Philadelphia, so L.A. is back on the right track. Los Angeles is coming off a 125-118 triumph over Brooklyn on Tuesday, the fourth time this season the Lakers have eclipsed the 120-point mark. The Lakers have put together a 7-2 ATS mark in the underdog role this season, including a home ‘dog win in their opener against the Rockets.

Don’t Forget Us

The Clippers have rolled to a 10-2 record through 12 games, including a 5-0 mark away from Staples Center. Los Angeles looks to bounce back from its second loss of the season on Wednesday against Memphis as 12½-point home favorites. The Clips head to Sacramento tonight to face a Kings’ squad that has slumped to a 4-8 mark. The Kings have lost eight of their past 10 matchups with the Clippers since 2013, including five consecutive home defeats. Los Angeles is a 7½-point favorite, while seeking its fifth straight OVER as tonight’s total sits at 205.

Playoff Rematch

The Cavaliers (9-2 SU, 3-7-1 ATS) swept the Pistons in the first round of last season’s playoffs as the two Central division rivals hook up in Cleveland. The Pistons actually won three of four regular season meetings from the Cavs last season, including the season finale at Quicken Loans Arena with a majority of Cleveland’s starters sitting.

Detroit (6-6 SU, 6-6 ATS) has struggled away from the Palace of Auburn Hills this season, losing six of seven road contests. Cleveland continues to dominate at home by posting a 6-1 home mark, but the Cavs own an 0-5-1 ATS record in the last six games at the Q. The Cavs look to bounce back after losing at Indiana on Wednesday, 103-93 as LeBron James sat out his first game of the season. Cleveland is listed as a nine-point home favorite, while the total is set at 204.

Hitting the Road

Toronto begins a five-game road swing, including four contests against Western Conference foes. The Raptors lost a pair of games this week to the two finalists from last season, the Cavaliers and Warriors to fall to 7-4. Toronto heads to Denver tonight looking to get on track, facing a Nuggets’ squad that finally won its first home game of the season on Wednesday against Phoenix. The Raptors edged the Nuggets in their first matchup at Air Canada Center on Halloween night, 105-102, but Denver cashed as 6½-point underdogs. Toronto has won three of four road contests this season as the Raptors are 3½-point favorites at Pepsi Center tonight.

Boston Strong

The Celtics and Warriors hook up tonight at TD Garden after two exciting matchups last season. Golden State held off Boston in overtime, 124-119 in mid-December, but the Celtics picked up revenge in April at Oracle Arena as 11½-point underdogs, 109-106. Boston is listed as a seven-point home underdog tonight, the first time this season the Celtics are picking up points at TD Garden. Since losing three straight earlier this month, Boston has won three of four even though Al Horford is sidelined with a concussion. Golden State is riding a five-game winning streak, while eclipsing the OVER in each contest of this hot streak.

Head-to-head notes

The Hawks captured three of four meetings from the Hornets last season, as all four games finished UNDER the total. However, Charlotte has won three of the last four home matchups with Atlanta since 2014.

Indiana swept the two-game series from Phoenix last season, including a 116-97 home rout as 12-point favorites. That was the only cover by the Pacers in the last 10 matchups between these teams since 2011.

Portland has owned New Orleans over the years, grabbing eight of the past nine meetings, including a 3-1 mark last season. Since 2014, the Blazers have won three of the last four matchups in New Orleans.

Brooklyn has covered four consecutive meetings with Oklahoma City, including both as a double-digit underdog last season. The Thunder are nine-point home favorites tonight against the Nets, as Brooklyn has cashed four straight matchups at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Memphis dropped three of four meetings with Dallas last season, including both contests at American Airlines Center.
