NBA Pick 'n' Roll: Sunday's Picks and Analysis
Covers.com

Houston Rockets at Indiana Pacers (+3.5, 222.5)

James Harden and the Houston Rockets are looking to extend two streaks when they travel to Hoosier land to take on the Pacers. Harden is looking for his third straight game of 35 or more points and the Rockets are trying to extend their season-long five game winning streak.

The offense is always going to be key to a Mike D'Antoni coached team and Harden is the perfect catalyst. The Rockets rank fifth in the NBA averaging 110.5 points, first in 3's per game taken (44.7) and made per game (15.2).

The Pacers are a young team and have struggled at the defensive end this season allowing 108.4 points per game, good for 25th in the NBA. Indiana gave up an average of 115 points per game during a recent four-game slide, that ended with a trip to the Windy City on Friday.

Houston scores an average of 30.9 points in the first quarter and look for them to come out firing early against a young and undisciplined Pacers defense. The Rockets over has cashed in five of their last six games.

Pick: Over 222.5

Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons (-3.5, 202)

The surprising Detroit Pistons have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference and have won four straight and look to finish off a perfect five-game homestead on Sunday against the Miami Heat.

Detroit is punching above their weight and cracks are starting to show, they blew a 19-point against the Hawks and snuck out a victory because of some rare Reggie Jackson clutch shooting. Andre Drummond is a career 38.8 percent free throw shooter and is sporting an impressive improvement up to 64.2 percent so far this season, but has only hit 4 of his last 13 over his last two games.

Miami meanwhile is starting to find their groove, winning three of their last five games on the road - covering in four of those five matchups. The Heat are doing it with defense allowing just 102.3 points per game and rank second in the association with an opponent effective field goal percentage of 48.6. In their last nine games following a ATS win the under has cashed eight times.

Both Stan Van Gundy and Erik Spoelstra are going to be preaching defense to their clubs.

Pick: Under 202.

Yesterday’s picks: 1-1
Season record: 24-26

Total Streaks:

*The under is 5-1 in Raptors last 6 vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
*The under is 8-1 in Heat last 9 games following a ATS win.
*The under is 5-0 in Rockets last 5 games playing on the back end of a back to back.
*The under is 7-0-1 in Thunder last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.

Injury to Watch:

Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving has a broken bone in his face and is doubtful for Sunday afternoons game against the Toronto Raptors. Irving left Friday night's game against the Hornets after taking an inadvertent elbow to the face from teammate Aron Baynes.

The Celtics said Saturday that Al Horford would probably be able to return for Sunday's game.

Trends:

* Celtics are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
* Heat are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Detroit.
* Rockets are 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Indiana.
* Mavericks are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 vs. Western Conference.

Consensus:

78 percent of users expect the Pistons to cover as 3.5-point home chalk against the Heat on Sunday.
