NBA Heat vs. Pacers Picks & Predictions for February 1, 2013
By ATSSportsline.com

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (ATS Consultants) – The Pacers have won 12-straight home games but they'll face a tough challenge tonight when they host the Heat at 7:00PM ET.

Last game: (1/8/13). INDIANA (+2) over Miami, 87-77. Miami (29-13 SU, 21-21 ATS, 20-22 O/U) is coming off a 105-85 win over Brooklyn on the road on Wednesday giving 2.5. Indiana dominated Detroit, 98-79 on Wednesday, giving 8.5 at home

ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed the Heat as 2-point favorites versus the Pacers, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 183 points. Miami is 29-13 overall and 11-10 on the road, while Indiana is 27-19 overall and 17-3 at home.

LINE MOVEMENT: The Heat opened as 2.5-point favorites but the spread has been bet down to 2 at most sports books. The total, meanwhile, opened at 185.5 and has been bet down to 183.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the current wagers placed on tonight’s game, 78% of NBA public bettors currently favor the Heat. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided to get the most updated public betting numbers.

NBA FREE PICK: Take Indiana. According to latest NBA trends, Heat are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 vs. Eastern Conference, 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games following a S.U. win, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU win of more than 10 points, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game and are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 vs. NBA Central. Underdog is 27-13-1 ATS in the last 41 meetings. Indiana is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest.

The Indiana Pacers know the formula. Play tough defense and rebound. Indiana seeks a third straight regular-season victory over visiting Miami when the Eastern Conference's top defense meets its highest-scoring offense Friday night. The only time the Heat were held below 84 points all season came in an 87-77 loss the Pacers on Jan. 8 as James tied a season high with seven turnovers -- half of his team's total for the contest. The Pacers, who lead the NBA in field-goal percentage defense (41.9) and the East in scoring defense (89.9), led last season's second-round playoff series with the Heat 2-1 before dropping three straight. They've held Miami under 78 points each of the last three times they've beaten the Heat, including that series. Paul George had 29 points and 11 rebounds in the last meeting and played a key role in frustrating James for most of the contest. Indiana has won the last two regular-season matchups after dropping nine of 10. Expect the Pacers to defend and rebound their way to a win.
