NBA Lakers vs. Clippers Picks & Predictions for April 7, 2013
By ATSSportsline.com

LOS ANGELES, CA (ATS Consultants) – The Clippers will host the Lakers at 3:30PM ET today in a battle for L.A. Who will cover?

ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed the Clippers as 4.5-point favorites over the Lakers, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 200.5 points. The Lakers enter play with a 40-36 overall record and are 15-24 on the road this year, while the Clippers are 50-26 overall and 29-9 at home.

LINE MOVEMENT: The Clippers opened as 5-point favorites but the spread has been bet down to 4.5 at most sports books. As for the total, it opened at 203 and has been bet down to 200.5 or 200 depending on what sports book you view.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the current wagers placed on tonight’s game, 55% of NBA public bettors currently favor the Lakers. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided to get the most updated public betting numbers.

NBA FREE PICK: Take the Clippers. According to latest NBA trends, the Lakers are 18-40-1 ATS last 59 following a SU win, 2-6 ATS last 8 vs. Pacific Division, 1-4 ATS last 5 road games and 4-12 ATS last 16 in series. Clippers are 7-1 ATS last 8 at home in series, favorite is 5-1 ATS last 6 in series, 10-3 ATS last 13 Sunday games and 4-1 ATS last 5 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

The LA Lakers (40-36 SU, 31-43-2 ATS, 38-37-1 O/U) have won three straight including an 86-84 win over Memphis at home, giving 2. The Clippers (50-26 SU, 41-35 ATS, 42-34 O/U) broke a three-game losing streak, defeating Phoenix, 126-101, on April 3, giving 16.5. The bottom line in this game is quickness vs. experience. "Lob city" vs. underachieving Hall of Famers. The Clippers are coming off an easy win over the Suns on Wednesday that gave them 50 wins for the first time ever. Now they look to clinch their first division title in their 42-year history. The Lakers have won five straight division titles and it would be a huge mental hurdle for the Clippers to jump over to win the Division at home against the rival Lakers. The Lakers are playing well, winning three straight and maintain a half-game lead over the Jazz for the final playoff spot. But with Steve Nash expected to be out again with a hip injury, Steve Blake has to start and defend All-Star Chris Paul. Nash really couldn't defend him in the three previous wins this year by the Clippers. Paul had 24 in their 125-101 win on Feb. 14, he had just 30 points and 13 assists on Jan. 4 in 107-102 win at home and on Nov. 2, had 18 points and 15 assists against Blake (with Nash injured) in a 105-95 Clippers win. Paul and "lob city" is victorious again and covers easily.
