NEW ORLEANS, LA (TheSpread) – Some of the top young stars in the NBA will be on display Monday when New Orleans hosts Minnesota. Here is a breakdown of my pick for this contest.
Minnesota is 11-39 on the season and just 2-23 on the road. The Timberwolves have lost three straight and 9 of their last 10. New Orleans is 32-20 on the season and 20-6 at home. The Hornets have lost two straight.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have released their odds for this game and they have made the Hornets an 8.5-point favorite at home. The over/under total has been set at 202 points. Here are some trends to consider and my pick for tonight’s game:

The Timberwolves have covered the spread in 5 of their last 6 games with New Orleans and the under has also hit in 5 of the 6 games between these two. New Orleans is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games as well. While Minnesota may not win, my pick is for them to cover the 8.5 points. The Timberwolves still have some athletes and should be able to keep things competitive with New Orleans.
