NBA Picks & Predictions for Saturday, February 5, 2011
By Drew Sharper
NEW ORLEANS, LA (TheSpread) – The L.A. Lakers hope to start a winning streak on Saturday when they hit the road to take on the New Orleans Hornets. Here is a look at my pick for this game.
Los Angeles is 34-16 on the season and 15-8 on the road. The Lakers have lost 5 of their last 10 games. New Orleans 32-19 on the season and 20-5 at home. The Hornets have won 7 of their last 10.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have released their odds for this game and they have made the Lakers a 4-point favorite at New Orleans. The over/under total has been set at 188 points. Here are some trends to consider and my pick for tonight’s game:
L.A. Lakers vs. New Orleans Hornets, 8PM ET (View Matchup)
The Lakers are 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 games in New Orleans and the road team has covered in 8 of the last 10 games in this series. The Hornets are also 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. My pick is with the Lakers on the road to cover as the Hornets are coming off a big win streak recently and the Lakers are trying to come out of a funk. L.A. knows this is a big game for them and they will be more motivated than the Hornets.
