NBA Spurs vs. Mavericks Picks & Predictions for January 25, 2013
By ATSSportsline.com

DALLAS, TX (ATS Consultants) – A battle of Texas teams will ensue tonight when the Mavericks host the Spurs at 8:00PM ET. Will Dallas pull off the small upset?

Last game: (12/30/12). San Antonio (-6) over DALLAS, 111-86. The Spurs are not expected to have Tim Duncan (knee) or coach Greg Popovich (illness) when they take on Dallas on Friday night. The Spurs (34-11 SU, 25-19-1 ATS, 20-25 O/U) are coming off a 106-102 win over New Orleans on Wednesday, giving 8.5. They have won six straight games. Dallas (18-24 SU, 23-19 ATS, 25-16-1 O/U) has won five of six games including a 111-105 win over Orlando on the road on Sunday. The Spurs travel to American Airlines Center in Dallas to take on the Mavs at 8pmET on Friday night.

ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed the Mavericks as 1.5-point home underdogs versus the Spurs, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 206 points. San Antonio enters the game with a 34-11 overall record and is 15-9 on the road this season, while Dallas is 18-24 overall and 11-8 at home.

LINE MOVEMENT: The Spurs opened as a 2-point favorite but the line has been bet down a half point to 1.5 at most sports books. As for the total, it opened at 205.5 and has been bet up to 206.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the current wagers placed on tonight’s game, 54% of NBA public bettors currently favor the Mavericks. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided to get the most updated public betting numbers.

NBA FREE PICK: Take Dallas. According to latest NBA trends, the Spurs are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, 4-11 ATS in their last 15 vs. Western Conference, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Friday games and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game. Dallas is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win, 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win and is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game

The Mavs appear to have righted the ship and the Spurs have won six straight. However, Tim Duncan and Gregg Popovich did not make the trip so the Mavs have a great shot at home to win six out of seven. Popovich remains ill and Duncan is bothered by a sore left knee. Assistant Mike Budenholzer will fill in again for Popovich, whose absence Wednesday certainly came as a surprise after he waited until two hours before tipoff to say he would miss the game. The Mavericks should also have some rest as they've had four days off since last playing. San Antonio has had two games in that span. Dallas has won five of six, averaging 110.7 points, and the only loss came in overtime to league-best Oklahoma City. At least six players have scored in double figures in each of the past five games as Dallas has averaged 26.8 assists and 10.6 turnovers. Vince Carter had a season-high six of the Mavs' 29 assists in a 111-105 win at Orlando on Sunday, two nights after scoring a season-best 29 points against the Thunder. Expect Carter and Nowitzki to take advantage of Duncan's absence and win this as a home dog outright.

2013 NBA FREE PICK: SAN ANTONIO SPURS -1.5
