HANGIN' IN

DeShawn Stevenson scored 19 points, Caron Butler added 17 and the Washington Wizards shot 52 percent and took themselves off the ropes by beating Cleveland 108-72 on Thursday night. The Wizards cut the Cavaliers' lead to 2-1 in the first-round series. Washington will host Game 4 on Sunday. ... T.J. Ford scored 21 points, Jose Calderon had 18 points and 13 assists, and the Toronto Raptors beat the Orlando Magic 108-94 in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series. Dwight Howard had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Magic, who lead the best-of-seven series 2-1. Game 4 is Saturday afternoon in Toronto. ... Tracy McGrady snapped out of his fourth-quarter slump and scored seven of his 27 points in the final period to lead Houston to a 94-92 victory over Utah, giving the Rockets life in a series that could have been headed for a sweep. Rafer Alston added 20 points and five assists as Houston avoided falling behind 3-0 in the series. Game 4 is Saturday back in Utah, where the Jazz were 37-4 this season.

BROWN RESIGNS

Larry Brown resigned Thursday as Philadelphia's executive vice president after barely two years on the job. Brown rejoined the Sixers in January 2007 more than three years after he left his coaching job to take the same position in Detroit. He led the Sixers to the 2001 NBA finals.

STRONG IN DEFEAT

Utah's Deron Williams had 28 points and 12 assists in a 94-92 loss to Houston in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series on Thursday night.
