ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON -- Washington Wizards forward Oleksiy Pecherov will be sidelined six weeks because of a broken right ankle.

Pecherov was injured last weekend when the team originally said he was expected to miss one or two weeks, but the prognosis was changed Friday.

The 7-footer was a 2006 first-round draft pick who played in his native Ukraine last season. He averaged eight points and five rebounds this preseason.

The Wizards lost 94-82 on Saturday night against the Magic.
