Ball State got swept by Eastern Michigan this year, losing in double OT at home, by 7 here; EMU won last three series games. Cardinals lost last two visits here, by 17-7 points. Ball lost five of its last six games, went 6-12 in MAC, splitting last four road games. Eagles won six of their last nine games; they went 9-9 in MAC, winning four of last five at home. Last seven years, Cardinals are 1-7 in MAC tourney, with only win two years ago- their last three MAC tourney losses were all 4 or fewer points. EMU won its first MAC tourney game the last six years, going 9-6 in those tourneys.
Akron hasn’t lost its first MAC tourney game since 2004; they’re 10-5 in this event the last six years. Zips lost six of last eight games overall, finished 8-10 in MAC, winning six of last eight home games. Akron is shooting 28.9% on arc , 47.6% inside arc in league play. Miami lost its last three games, went 7-11 in MAC, losing four of their last five road games. Red Hawks won their first MAC tourney game four of last six years. Ohio U is 3-2 in its last five games; they finished 6-12 in MAC, losing five of their last six road games. Bobcats are experience team #277. Northern Illinois won three of last four games, is 8-10 in MAC, losing four of its last five home games. Huskies are experience team #54. CAA tournament, Charleston SC
Delaware was down 14 at the half, by 12 with with 10:29 left, but rallied to beat Wm&Mary 85-79 Sunday; three starters played 38:00+. Blue Hens got hammered twice by Hofstra this season, losing first meeting 91-46, the rematch by 22. Hofstra won 10 of last 11 series games. Since ’03, Delaware is 1-9 in its second game of CAA tourney, with lone win five years ago. Hofstra is 14-17 in this event, never winning it; they’re 3-7 in 2nd round games. Pride played six guys 27:00+ in Sunday’s win; Hofstra won four of last six games, after starting season 22-4.
Charleston beat Northeastern in OT in CAA tourney final LY; teams split two meetings this year, with Cougars winning last one, also in OT. Charleston won five of last six series games overall. Cougars won 10 of last 12 games after starting out 3-4 in CAA; they’re 7-3 in their second CAA tourney game. Northeastern is 2-6 in last eight 2nd round games; Huskies won their last five games and 14 of last 16 games; they’re experience team #60; they’re shooting 56.5% inside arc in CAA games. Both teams had fairly easy wins Sunday; Huskies made 12-26 on arc in their game.
Horizon League tournament, Detroit
Green Bay won seven of its last ten games, is 10-8 in Horizon- they’re 5-11 vs teams ranked in top 200. Four of their last five games were decided by 5 or fewer points. Wright State won eight of last nine games, is 14-5 in league games. Raiders won their last four second round games in this event. Phoenix is experience team #103 that plays fastest tempo games in league, but they’re shooting only 32.6% on arc in league. Teams split pair of meetings this year; Wright won five of last six meetings, beating Phoenix 87-72 in LY’s Horizon tourney.
Oakland is 5-3 vs Northern Kentucky in Horizon games; teams split season series last three years. Grizzlies won their last five games after starting out 7-7 in Horizon; they scored 85.4 ppg in last four games. Norse won six of its last eight games; their 56.8% eFG% is best in league. NKU is experience team #187; Oakland is experience team #294- they’re #348 in minutes continuity. NKU is 4-2 in this event, winning title in ’17, losing in first round other two years; Oakland hasn’t won two games in same conference tourney since 2011 Summit League tourney.
Summit League tournament, Sioux Falls, SD
Omaha beat Fort Wayne twice this year, by 6-3 points, with game in Omaha going OT; they won last three series games, all by 6 or fewer points. Mavericks won 13 of last 15 games; they’re #89 experience team that is making 40.8% of its 3’s in Summit games, best in league. Omaha is 4-4 in this event, 1-1 in second round games. Fort Wayne lost four of last five games overall; they crushed South Dakota Sunday, leading 52-25 at the half; Mastodons are 7-11 in this event, losing four of five second round games. Omaha won on Saturday, had Sunday off.
Western Illinois is first-ever #8-seed to win Summit League tourney game; Leathernecks played Saturday, not yesterday- they lost seven of last nine games, are shooting only 45.6% inside arc in Summit games. North Dakota State made 10-20 on arc in its 86-73 win Sunday- they were down 13 early in game. Bison swept WIU this season, by 16-2 points; they won 12 of last 13 series games. This is first time in six years WIU won a tourney game; they lost tourney final in OT in 2012. Since 2009, Bison won five of their six second round games.
WCC tournament, Las Vegas (Orleans Arena)
San Diego won its first three games in this event, allowing 49.7 ppg; they were up 46-17 at half over BYU Saturday. Toreros lost twice to Saint Mary’s this season, by 17-20 points- they’ve lost last 11 series games. USD is experience team #17, starting four seniors- they last won this tournament in ’08, last made semis in ’13. Saint Mary’s won semi-final round game seven of last nine years; they’ve won five of last six games overall, and haven’t played in nine days- San Diego is playing its 4th game in five nights.
Southern Conference tournament, Asheville, NC
Wofford crushed NC-Greensboro twice this season, by 29-30 points, snapping a 5-game skid vs the Spartans. Terriers are 20-0 in SoCon games this year; they haven’t lost since Dec 19 at Miss State, are looking for first SoCon title since 2105. Wofford won four SoCon tourneys in last decade. NC-Greensboro won their last six games, are 17-3 in SoCon, but they were down 12 at half Saturday, were down 9 in 2nd half last night; they start two juniors, two seniors. Spartans played three starters 30:00+ yesterday. UNCG won this event last year.
MAAC tournament, Albany
Iona coach Cluess is 19-4 coaching in the Times-Union Center in Albany; Gaels won this tourney the last three years. Iona won its last nine games overall, after starting season 7-15; they start four juniors, one senior. Gaels beat Monmouth 103-84 in first meeting, then lost rematch 83-81. Hawks won four of last six series games. Monmouth is 13-8 in MAAC after being 1-12 in pre-conference; this is their fourth game in five nights, while it is third game in four nights for Iona. Hawks were 1-12 in pre-conference play, but they’ve won their last four games.

Championship Week in college basketball gets things started with a doubleheader of tournament action this Monday night in the West Coast Conference Semifinals from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
The first game on the slate pits the surprising Pepperdine Waves against the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs. The San Diego Toreros have also made an unexpected run to the WCC semifinals to face No. 2 Saint Mary’s-California.

Pepperdine finished in eighth in the WCC regular season standings at 6-10 straight-up with a losing 16-17 record overall. Drawing No. 9 Pacific in the opening round, the Waves came away with a 61-53 victory as slight 1 ½-point favorites. They went on to beat Loyola Marymount 68-65 as 4 ½-point underdogs before stunning San Francisco 89-72 in Saturday’s quarterfinals as eight-point underdogs.
Pepperdine is now 6-3 against the spread over its last nine games. Colbey Ross has been a force during this current three-game run. The Sophomore guard leads the team in scoring with 19.4 points per game and he has combined for 46 points in his last two starts.

Junior forward Rui Hachimura is Gonzaga’s leading scorer this season with 20.6 PPG. He scored a game-high 23 points in that earlier win against the Waves.

San Diego hammered BYU 80-57 on Saturday as a 3 ½-point underdog to advance to Monday’s semifinal round. As the No. 7 seed, it opened the tournament with a 67-47 romp over Portland as a 13-point favorite. The Toreros (20-13 SU, 17-15 ATS) also covered as 5 ½-point favorites in Friday’s 62-45 victory against Santa Clara. The total stayed UNDER the closing line in all three games.
San Diego went 7-9 SU in the WCC regular season with an even 8-8 record ATS. Two of those losses (SU and ATS) came against St. Mary’s by a combined 37 points. The total stayed UNDER in both losses.
The Gaels’ recent SU five-game winning streak came to an end with a 69-55 loss to Gonzaga as 9 ½-point home underdogs in their regular season finale.
