NCAA Basketball Odds - Big Ten Tournament Preview

The Michigan State Spartans beat rival Michigan in the regular season finale to tie for the Big Ten title. Now they are the favorites to win the conference tournament. Michigan State, the Wolverines and the Purdue Boilermakers are the top three teams as judged by the oddsmakers.

Purdue tied with Michigan State atop the regular season leaderboard but is behind the other two when it comes to the likelihood of winning the Big Ten tournament. There is a lot on the line for those teams as they aim to get a high seed in March Madness.

There are some underdogs that also hope to make some noise in the conference tourney, although it would be a big surprise if someone like Wisconsin, Maryland or Penn State managed to come away with the title in NCAA men’s basketball wagering.

This Big Ten Tournament will be held at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois from Wednesday, March 13th through Sunday, March 17th, 2019. The Big Ten Tournament championship game will be nationally televised on CBS.

Odds Analysis

Michigan State had another impressive season, going 25-6 overall and 16-4 in Big Ten play. It lost three games in a row early in conference play and had a late loss to Indiana which jeopardized its chance at the regular season crown, but the win over Michigan in the finale tied up Purdue for a split of the hardware. The Spartans are deep and talented, and thus have been listed at +175 to win the Big Ten tournament.

Michigan has the best overall record of anyone in the conference at 26-5, but finished in third place in the regular season at 15-5 in conference. The Wolverines’ calling card is their defense, and as the intensity goes up in the postseason that can be a big help. Michigan’s odds are also pretty good at +250, and it would not be a surprise at all if it emerged with the Big Ten tournament crown.

Purdue went 23-8 on the year and finished 16-4 in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers went a perfect 15-0 on their home floor and hope to find similar success on this neutral court. Even though Purdue tied for the conference championship, they are not placed in the same tier as Michigan State or Michigan as the odds for the Boilermakers to win the Big Ten tournament are set at +300.

Those are the three teams that are expected to compete for the title. The rest of the field is pretty big underdogs. Wisconsin had a record of 22-9 overall and 14-6 in conference and is listed at +800. Maryland is next in line at +1000 odds, and after that comex the extreme longshots. Penn State checks in at +2500 odds, Indiana at +3000, Iowa at +5000, Minnesota at +5000, Nebraska at +7500, Ohio State at +7500, Illinois at +10000, Northwestern at +20000 and Rutgers at +20000.

Free NCAA Basketball ATS Picks

The Big Ten didn’t have a clearly dominant team in the regular season as all of the teams took their lumps. Purdue is a solid group and may be able to make a nice run, but in the end the oddsmakers have chosen the right team as the favorite.

Michigan State is putting things together at the right time and is the pick to win the conference tournament in NCAA men’s basketball gambling.

NCAA Basketball Odds - ACC Tournament Preview

The ACC is the most powerful conference in the country, and its tournament should be a heavyweight battle until the end. Three of the best programs in the nation -- Virginia, North Carolina and Duke -- highlight the group but there is also a second tier of talented teams.

Virginia and North Carolina tied atop the ACC at the conclusion of the regular season and should be two of the top contenders in the tournament. Duke superstar forward Zion Williamson has resumed practicing, and if he can make his return, it will give the Blue Devils a huge boost and could make them the team to beat.

Virginia, North Carolina and Duke are all in contention for a No. 1 seed in March Madness and would love to win the ACC Tournament. There are numerous other tournament teams in the field who can solidify their case with a good showing in NCAA men’s basketball gambling.

This ACC Tournament will be held at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina from Tuesday, March 12th through Saturday, March 16th, 2019

Odds Analysis

Virginia has put together a fantastic season and enters the conference tournament as the favorite to come away with the crown. The Cavaliers are 28-2 overall on the season with a 16-2 mark in the conference. Virginia has won eight in a row entering the tourney and has +150 odds to capture it.

Duke is not far behind. Williamson seems likely to be back and he is the best player in the country, so it will be a big help. The Blue Devils finished the regular season with a record of 26-5 overall and 14-4 in conference. However, several of those losses came when he was out, which is why Duke is coming in at +170 to win the ACC Tournament. Despite some issues recently, the Blue Devils may have the most talented team in the country when healthy.

The North Carolina Tar Heels finished the season on a seven-game winning streak, going 26-5 overall and 16-2 in the ACC. UNC swept Duke and has really played well of late. Luke Maye has a ton of experience and he will look to lead his team to the conference championship. If the Tar Heels win the ACC tourney, that should lock up a No. 1 seed in March Madness. North Carolina’s odds are listed at +300, so the oddsmakers are not quite putting it on the same plane as Duke and Virginia.

Those are the big three. However, there are some teams that will aim to get hot and make a nice run. Florida State is ranked No. 14 in the nation after finishing the regular season with a 25-6 overall mark and a record of 13-5 in the ACC. The Seminoles’ odds are still long at +1200 because the conference is so stacked.

Virginia Tech is in a similar boat. The Hokies are ranked in the top-15 nationally and have a record of 23-7 overall and 12-6 in conference, but check in at +1500 odds to win the tournament. While Florida State and Virginia Tech are longshots, at least they are given a puncher’s chance.

Louisville is listed at +3000 odds, Syracuse at +4000 and North Carolina State and Clemson at +5000. The road is so tough that it’s hard to imagine anyone outside the elite trio of Virginia, Duke and North Carolina will win the ACC Tournament.

Free NCAA Basketball ATS Picks

Some players may take some time to round back into form, but Williamson is such a freak that he will likely make an impact from the moment he steps back on the court. Virginia may be the slightest of favorites, but the Blue Devils are the more talented team. At these odds, Duke is the easy pick to win the ACC Tournament in NCAA men’s basketball gambling.
