Duquesne lost in finals of A-14 final, after stumbling to 4-5 finish to the regular season; Dukes lost 95-72 at Duke in their only game against ACC foe- they beat Radford (coached by Seth Greenberg's brother) 94-75, on Dec 10. Hokies are 1-1 vs A-14 teams, beating Richmond 62-48, losing to Xavier on half-court shot at buzzer on a neutral floor.

Miami is 4-8 in last dozen games, with last three losses by 13-10-18 pts; they split two games vs Big East, losing by 13 to UConn (+4) on neutral floor, winning by 14 at St John's (-4.5). Providence lost at BC 81-76 in its only game vs ACC foe- they're 6-3 in last nine games as a favorite.

Florida is in NIT second straight year, after winning consecutive NCAA titles; they're 5-7 in last dozen games, but went 12-2 outside SEC, with 78-57 win vs Stetson of Atlantic Sun, a team Jacksonville beat by 23-15 points this year. Dolphins lost to Florida State by 9, Georgetown by 2, Georgia Tech by 3, so they shouldn't be intimidated here.

Kansas State is 3-4 in last seven games, losing to Texas in first round of Big 12 tourney Thursday; Wildcats were 1-3-1 as a home favorite in Big 12 play, winning by 16-15-12-5-12 points. Illinois State has been off for 10 days since losing in OT of MVC finals; they started season 14-0, but are just 10-9 since then.

Bowling Green is 10-4 in last 14 games, covering five of last six tries as an underdog; they lost 78-65 at Illinois State in only game vs MVC foe. Creighton has been off since losing 11 days ago in MVC semis, ending 11-game win streak; Bluejays are 3-6 in last nine games as home favorite.

Auburn won eight of last ten games, covering last five tries as a favorite- their loss to Tennessee in SEC semis ended 10-game spread win streak. UT-Martin is one of few top seeds to lose in conference tourney- they lost 91-64 at Tennessee in only game vs SEC opponent. Skyhawks are 3-1 vs spread in last four games as an underdog.

Northwestern lost last two games, scoring 47-53 points, after being 8-9 in Big 11; they went 4-5 as Big 11 road dog, covering last three chances. Wildcats beat SMU of C-USA, 66-55. Tulsa won seven of its last eight games, is 5-0-1 in last six games as favorite- they lost 48-44 to Illinois on a neutral court, in its only game vs Big 11 opponent.

Baylor had disappointing Big 12 season, then got to finals of tournament before losing by 13 to Missouri; Bears beat Providence by 16 in its only game vs Big East foe. Georgetown is 4-10 in last 14 games, 3-5 vs spread as an underdog- they went 9-2 outside the Big East, losing to Tennessee by 12 on neutral court, by 9 at Duke in mid-January.

St John's is 4-3 in last seven games, but they're 1-9 on road, winning at 1-19 DePaul 84-63; Red Storm is 6-4 outside the Big East, losing its last three non-league games to Va Tech, Miami, Duke. Richmond lost 76-71 at Syracuse in only game vs Big East foe; they're 3-5 vs spread in their last eight games as a favorite.

Wichita State won its last seven home games (4-3 vs spread); they're 6-5 outside MVC, beating NCAA teams Cleveland State, Siena. Buffalo lost in MAC finals; they lost 64-49 at Evansville in only game vs MVC foe. Bulls play good defense, holding 10 of last 13 opponents under 66 pts.

Green Bay is experienced team that went 9-0 at home in Horizon, with eight wins by 9+ points (6-2 as home favorite); somehow, they lost to a D-II team on neutral court in November. but was 9-4 outside Horizon. Vermont tied for top in America East; they're 14-2 in last 16 games, and play fast (#50 tempo team out of 344).

Charleston lost finals of SoCon tourney on other team's court; they went 8-2 outside league, beating South Carolina, losing to Temple by 5. Troy was on 12-1 run before getting beat by South Alabama 78-75 in Sun Belt tourney- they are 4-7 in non-league games. Cougars won six of their last eight games.

Houston split its last six games; they blew double digit lead at Arizona in its only game vs Pac-10 foe- they want to play fast, Oregon State will go at slower pace- they went 5-5 out of conference, 4-5 at home in the Pac-10, but they lost their last four games overall, by 10-25-16-8 points. Cougars went 3-5 in last eight road games.

Boise State went 3-5 in last eight games; they were 4-4 as road dog in its WAC games, losing on road by 14-14-4-6-14 points- they went 9-4 in its non-WAC games. Stanford is 4-10 in last 14 games; they were 5-1 as a Pac-10 home favorite, and went 10-0 outside Pac-10, but Northridge and Northwestern are only ones of the 10 victims to make postseason.

College Insider tournament
Mt St Mary's tied for second in NEC; they lost 72-60 to George Mason, in only game vs CAA foe. James Madison is 9-4 outside the CAA; they lost four of last five games, with losses by 3-18-14-8 points. Dukes are struggling on offense, scoring just 56.7 ppg in last three games-- they are 6-4-1 vs spread in last eleven games as a favorite.

Austin Peay had 7-point lead at halftime of OVC title game, but lost in 2OTs; Governors lost 70-62 at Evansville, 71-54 at Drake in its couple of games vs MVC opponents. Bradley was 5-2 as MVC home favorite; they beat OVC doormat SE Missouri State 75-62 Dec 14 (-18). Braves went 7-5 outside Missouri Valley Conference.

Belmont is usually best team in Atlantic Sun; they tied for 2nd this year, lost by 14 at Pitt, just 2 at Tennessee, so they're not bad, a senior-laden team that gets 39% of its points beyond arc. Evansville lost five of last six games, but was 6-3 at home in Valley games- they are 9-2 outside the Missouri Valley Conference, beating Western Kentucky by 32.

Portland hasn't played in 11 days; they lost three of last four games, are 5-3 as road underdog. Pilots beat Cal-Davis 75-72 in only game against a Big West opponent. Pacific just lost OT game in Big West final Saturday night, which ended five-game Tiger win streak. Pacific won its last five home games- they went 3-2 against WCC teams this season, but didn't play the three best teams in that league.

Drake lost last three games and 11 of last 15 games; they were 9-2 back in pre-conference play, and was 5-3 as MVC road dog, losing away tilts by 11-4-21-16-12-2 points. Idaho won five of last seven games, won six of eight WAC home games; they're 4-3 against spread as a fave this year.

Miami of Florida vs. Providence

The Big East solid as is the ACC. Providence is a top 80 team and they face a Miami team that is ranked in the top 55. The majority of the public, 62%, likes Providence though. Providence only beat Rhode Island by 1 point, 65-64 and Rhode Island was a top 70 team while Miami is a bit better. I can see this either way, but Miami beat Boston College, St. Johns and Kentucky on the road, so I don't think it's all that impossible for them to get inside the 2.5 or win this game outright.

Duquesne vs. Virginia Tech

Duquesne is a top 100 team that lost to the eventual Atlantic champ in Temple. Duquesne beat Rhode Island, Umass and Dayton to get to that game. This team to their credit did beat La Salle, Umass, St. Bonny and Robert Morris. Va Tech did not close the season out well though losing their last 7 of 9 contests. This team beat Virginia, BC and NC State all by less than 8 points at home, so I think the points could be nice here and who knows, if the Dukes get hot, they could win SU.

St. John's vs. Richmond

St. John's is a top 125 team that went 6-12 in the Big East that is just 1-9 on the road. Yet, the public seems to be split as this team beat Georgetown with some faithful in round one. But, after that, this team got crushed by Marquette in round two. The Spiders beat Xavier, Duquesne, Charlotte and Rhode Island all at home and come off a tough loss to Dayton. I just don't know if St. John's has enough offense to keep up here.

Charleston vs. Troy

How interesting is this game - you have a team in Charleston that lost a shocker to Chattanooga in a game they should have won but basically played it as a road game with terrible reffing. This team who is ranked in the top 175 will play a Troy team that is ranked in the top 200. Troy went 14-4 in conference play losing to South Alabama by 3 in the conference tourney. Troy has not beat much competition but did beat Western Kentucky at home. Of cuorse, Charleston had defeated South Carolina and Davidson on the road so its tough to call it either way. no thanks.

Bowling Green vs. Creighton

I'm not the one to lay points, but this will be a tough game for BG. Creighton is a top 75 team that is ticked they did not make it to the tourney. They beat George Mason at home by 13, but BG beat Akron and Buffalo on the road and only lost to Minnesota by 7 on the highway early in the year showing their potential. I can respect that and in a total of 132.5, the 11.5 points seem decent. If you think BG will play tough, you might want to give the over a strong gander as well as with such a big net, an active dog, can certainly push this total over.

Georgetown vs. Baylor

Props to Baylor. They came a long way in the conference tournament and I hope they don't lay down after losing in the Championship. You got to like this team shot 70.5% and this team will want to do the Big12 proud here vs. the Big East one would think. Sure, Baylor could win this game, but I just don't trust them and GT has a way of surprising, they did beat Villanova and Uconn on the road. A small lean on Baylor, but again, I'm just weary of them at home as remember, they were 2-8 coming into the conference tournament before going 3-1 in the conference tourney getting into the finals.

Portland vs. Pacific

Portland is no joke. They are a top 110 team and lost to St. Mary's who took care of business in their first round. Portland had actually beat St. Mary's earlier this year by 18 and Nevada at home who is a top 50 team. But, Portland has not won any significant games on the road. Pacific bat Cal State Northridge at home and Santa Clara at home as well. But, I can see this either way, as Pacific for the most part has not beat many top 150 teams. Again, I can see this both ways.

Drake vs. Idaho

Drake is a top 150 hitting the road who has beaten the likes of Iowa State on the road, Southern Illinois, Creighton and Northern Iowa. Idaho is a top 175 team but their wins outside of North Dakota State has not been all that impressive at home. I actually lean on Drake slightly here as the public is split. I think there are better games than this contest though.
