There are just two weeks left for teams to bolster their resumes as Selection Sunday looms on the horizon. We’ve got three games on Tuesday’s slate that feature programs still jockeying for position…two of which will be facing one another.
Cincinnati Bearcats at South Florida Bulls
--Cincinnati (18-11 straight up, 11-12 against the spread) picked a bad time to go on its latest slide. The Bearcats got torched in a prime let down spot as 8 ½-point road ‘dogs at Syracuse, 87-63, on March 1. Cincy kept close in the rebound category (32-36) but turned the ball over too many times (10-6) and shot an atrocious 37.3 percent (22-of-59) from the field in its third loss in its last four games. Dion Dixon scored 18 points and five boards in a losing effort.
--Luckily for the Bearcats, South Florida (8-20 SU, 14-13 ATS) is struggling to the finish line. The Bulls have dropped six straight contests. Even worse for bettors is the fact they’ve failed to cover the number in four of those matches. Things won’t get any better for USF the rest of the way now that senior guard Jesus Verdejo is gone for the rest of the season with a bad right foot.
--The Bearcats will have to prove that they can win away from home if they have any chance in making the NCAA Tournament. But a 4-7 SU and ATS mark on the road indicates that Cincinnati has its work cut out for them. Cincy has seen the ‘under’ go 7-4 in those matches.
--While the Bulls have been awful for much of the year, they’ve managed to go 6-7 SU and 6-6 ATS at the USF Sun Dome. South Florida has cashed the ‘under’ in eight of its 13 home tilts.
--Cincy has owned this series recently with an 8-2 SU mark. However, they’ve only covered the spread in four of the matches. The Bulls are on a 4-0 ATS run against the Bearcats.

Kansas State Wildcats at Oklahoma State Cowboys
--Kansas State (20-9 SU, 10-10 ATS) is doing what it needs to in order to stay in the field of 65, winning nine of its last 11 matches this season. The Wildcats’ most recent triumph came against Nebraska in Manhattan on Feb. 28, 77-72. Jacob Pullen paced the ‘Cats with 18 points, four rebounds and five assists. Unfortunately for bettors, K-State failed to cover as a seven-point home “chalk” to go 1-3 ATS in its last four matches.
--While the Wildcats are in the tourney field, they’ve played schools that are in the middle of the pack or are in the basement of some lower tier conferences in Division I. So if they are to falter during what’s left of the regular season and conference tournament, that sub-par schedule could very well come back to bite them in the backside.
--Oklahoma State (19-9 SU, 11-10-1 ATS) is slowly but surely locking up its first tournament berth since 2005. The Cowpokes were able to upend Texas as one-point favorites on Feb. 28, 68-59. Terrel Harris had 13 points and eight boards in a winning effort, while Marshall Moses poured in 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds on his own.
--The Cowboys have now won five straight games SU to bolster their resume. But for our purposes they’re doing well in covering the number in all five matches.
--Travis Ford’s squad is 5-2 Su and 4-3 ATS when playing at home against Big XII foes in 2008-2009. The ‘under’ is 4-3 during that stretch as well.
--It’s been a roller coaster for Kansas State when playing on the road this year with a 6-6 record SU and 4-6-2 mark ATS. They saw the ‘under’ go 7-5 in those matches.
--ESPN2 will have this game starting at 7:30 p.m. EST.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Maryland Terrapins – 9:00 p.m. EST
--The Deacons have won eight of their 12 fixtures that were played on the road or in a neutral setting, covering the number in five of them. Wake Forest (22-5 SU, 14-9 ATS), however, is 1-4 SU and ATS in its last four road tests in the ACC.
--Maryland (18-10 SU, 12-9 ATS) is making a late season charge at make the tourney with a 4-2 SU and ATS run in its past six games. That streak for the Terrapins includes an 88-85 upset over North Carolina and a 71-60 win over North Carolina State as four-point road pups on March 1.
--As good as the Terps have been playing recently it might all go for naught since ESPN is projecting them as one of the “Next Four Out” of the tournament.
--The ‘under’ has hit in two straight tilts for the Terrapins. Meanwhile, the Demon Deacons have watched the ‘over’ go 7-2 in their last nine contests.
--Wake might be having the better season, but Maryland has owned the recent series with a 5-1 SU and 3-3 ATS record since March 2004.
--The ‘under’ is on a 4-1 run in the last five head-to-head meetings.
--The Demon Deacons are 4-1 ATS in their past five visits to Maryland.
